bodhizazenthe US Ski Team is training @ Timberline02:01
bodhizazenHad a chance to meet Sarah02:02
bodhizazenhttp://www.usskiteam.com/alpine/athletes/athlete?athleteId=105302:02
seidoshi there bodhizazen02:09
seidosI've always wondered if it was possible to tell if someone was a really skilled athlete just by talking to them.02:11
bodhizazenseidos, well, I watched her train as well =)02:29
bodhizazenOlympic Athletes are extremely dedicated to their sport02:30
bodhizazenThink about it - Years of training for 15 minutes of fame =)02:30
seidosthat kind of dedication is foreign to me.  Makes me wonder where it comes from.  I used to snowboard, but it was for fun, and the more I pushed to improve, the more I realized it wasn't for me.  Improvement didn't seem to be worth the risk in pain.  But I never did slalom, it isn't really suited to snowboarding, or vice versa, I would think it is still dangerous though.02:34
bodhizazenyep02:36
bodhizazenIf you read the bio, Sarah missed an Olympic competition due to injury02:37
seidosI skimmed it02:37
bodhizazenAnd Lindsey Vonn broke her hand in a spectacular crash02:37
seidoswere they in this last Olympics?  I think I remember seeing that.02:38
seidosYeah, Lindsey Vonn sounds familiar.  She won a gold, right?02:38

nUboon2Ageduanedesign: I have a question about the forums you might be able to help me with.  I made a post, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=639966 , but when i search under 'Find all your posts' it doesn't show up, and at least for me when i go to Community Cafe, i don't see it near the top as i'd expect it to be.  Any ideas what might be going on?04:24
nUboon2Agekermiac: ^^^04:27
nUboon2Agekermiac: duanedesign: hmmm... i just posted to another thread in Community Cafe, and again i don't see it rising to the top of the list as i'd expect it too...04:33
kermiachey nUboon2Age, I'm not a forum regular so I don't know how much help I can be... have you got a link to your post?04:37
nUboon2Agekermiac: see above ^^^^ :)04:37
kermiacnUboon2Age: haha, I'm blind today :)04:38
duanedesignnUboon2Age: hello04:40
head_victimI'm no expert either but it would appear the latest update to the front page of all the ubuntu forum sections was 2 hours ago. Might be something with updating on the forum side04:40
duanedesignnUboon2Age: Do ant of your Community Cafe posts show up?04:41
duanedesigns/ant/any04:41
kermiacnUboon2Age: is it maybe because you "bumped" your own thread? Do you want me to post a comment & see what happens?04:41
kermiachey duanedesign :)04:41
duanedesignnUboon2Age: i know Community Cafe posts dont count towards your bean count. I am not sure if that also excludes them from your 'Find all Posts'04:42
duanedesignkermiac: hello!04:42
nUboon2Agekermiac: yes, please try posting to it and see if it bumps up.04:43
nUboon2Ageduanedesign: i did two and neither are bumping up.  Neither were 'my' threads.04:44
nUboon2Ageduanedesign: kermiac: i just did a third and its not bumped either.  i see what you said about the latest being 2 hours old.  yeah maybe there's something going on with the forum.04:45
kermiacah.. I think something's going on with the forums. It logs me in, redirects me back to the original page & then shows that I'm not logged in04:47
nUboon2Agekermiac: okay that kind of thing happened to me too.04:47
kermiaci think head_victim might be right, there's probably an update or something going on atm04:47

ronankI'm trying to boot a Eee from Ubuntu Netbook Edition on a USB stick, so that I can fix the messed-up installation on the SSD in the device, but it halts at "GRUB loading" with Error 15. Can anyone help sort this out?11:21
Silver_Fox_/boot/grub/menu.lst  might be pointing to the wrong partition for grub stage 1.5. Have you recently manipulated your partitions?11:23
ronankI had to power the netbook off because the keyboard wasn't responding, and my attempts to use fsck to fix the problem have just made it worse.11:25
ronankI haven't changed anything myself, but I guess fsck has damaged something11:25
hobgoblinronank: then I would suggest that either the usb is not right or the Eee is not set to boot from usb first11:39
ronankhobgoblin: I know the Eee is set to boot from USB, because if the stick is not inserted, it won't boot at all. There may be a problem with the USB - how can I test this?11:41
hobgoblinno idea I'm afraid - never had a usb set to boot from11:44
ronankhobgoblin: ok thanks.11:48
hobgoblinronank: not sure what you can do to check tbh - and you need somehow to reinstall grub I think11:50
IAmNotThatGuyEvening hobgoblin =]11:51
ronankhobgoblin: yes. I can't figure out how to boot it though. Does anyone else have any ideas?11:51
IAmNotThatGuyronank: boot failiure??11:52
hobgoblinronank: so what do you get when you boot without the usb - what error is it ?11:53
ronankIAmNotThatGuy: Yes, I'm trying to boot a Eee from Ubuntu Netbook Edition on a USB stick, so that I can fix the messed-up installation on the SSD in the device, but it halts at "GRUB loading" with Error 15.11:53
ronankhobgoblin: Nothing - it's a BIOS error. I'll check the text now.11:55
IAmNotThatGuyronank: is that similar too http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1414036?11:56
ronankhobgoblin: I'm wrong. Same GRUB error from the hard disk.11:56
=== IAmNotThatGuy is now known as Mohan_chml
ronankIAmNotThatGuy: that looks similar, I'll see if that helps11:57
Mohan_chmlokay ronank (:11:57
hobgoblinronank: hang on - are you saying that you have installs on both the ssd and the usb? if that's the case you are needing a livecd/liveusb to reinstall grub11:59
ronankhobgoblin: yes, I have both. The netbook was working fine from the SSD yesterday :-)12:00
ronankhobgoblin: I think I have a live CD on a USB stick and I want to boot that.12:01
hobgoblinif the usb is giving you error15 - either it has an install which is failing - or it is not being booted with - at least that seems a logical explanation12:02
ronankhobgoblin: I think I mis-diagnosed the problem. The error 15 is coming from the SSD installation. I'm now trying to boot from the USB and the BIOS says: "Reboot and Select proper Boot device", which I guess means that the USB is not bootable.12:04
hobgoblink - that makes more sense now :)12:05
hobgoblinyou need to do that then - unetbootin or whatever - not something I have done12:05
ronankhobgoblin: I'll recreate the USB bootable system. I made it on a Mac, that may be the problem12:07
ronankMohan_chml: I think the page you pointed me to will help12:07
ronankThanks12:07
hobgoblinronank: good luck then :)12:07
Mohan_chmlno worries ronank carry on with debugging (:12:07
Mohan_chmlhobgoblin: I said evening :(12:08
hobgoblinI assume you have the reinstall grublink already12:08
