JamesWStubbsHello, is porting Ubuntu to a mobile device (Apple iPhone) considered appropriate in this room?11:01
tjaaltoncan't see why it would be11:06
JamesWStubbsI was advised to ask here about mu problem11:07
JamesWStubbsWhat does the x stand for in #ubuntu-x ??11:07
tjaaltonX.org11:07
JamesWStubbsMy query is xorg related11:07
tjaaltonmake that X.Org11:07
JamesWStubbsBasically, I've gotten the screen to display and accept input using fbdev and evtouch, for the sake of screen estate I need to rotate the screen to landscape. If I use the option Option "Rotate" "CW" the display will rotate perfectly fine, but as soon as the screen's touched X11 will close. I've also tried adding Mode "480x320" in a subsection of xorg.conf but then xrandr doesn't show that rotation is possible.11:10
JamesWStubbsI can't release my images while the screen's portrait, applications are unusable.11:11
JamesWStubbsIs my query X.Org related? Or should I look elsewhere?11:17
tjaaltonso it crashes. have you tried debugging why?11:18
tjaaltondoes fbdev support rotating the screen?11:18
JamesWStubbstjaalton: I've tried debugging nothing grabbed my attention, fbdev should support rotation11:19
tjaaltonyou could try on #xorg-devel11:20
JamesWStubbsIt isn't a relevant query according to them11:21
JamesWStubbsI've asked them questions over the course of developing Ubuntu on the iPhone11:22
tjaaltonyeah, it's silly anyway ;)11:23
JamesWStubbsWhat's silly the idea behind the port? or the issue with X11?11:24
tjaaltonthe port11:24
JamesWStubbs:) Why do you think that?11:24
tjaaltoni thought it was a capable phone as is11:25
tjaaltonso why brick it :)11:25
JamesWStubbsThe process is very safe, it uses loopback images so the host partition isn't effected11:25
JamesWStubbsThe only issue I've had up to now is that it seems to reset the time and date, I'm working on that.11:25
tjaaltonsounds like evtouch makes the server crash11:27
tjaaltonwhy not use evdev?11:27
tjaaltonevtouch is unmaintained anyway11:27
JamesWStubbsI used evdev, worked perfectly in landscape11:27
JamesWStubbsBut it doesn't support right-click11:28
tjaaltonworks fine with my mouse11:28
JamesWStubbsIt's a touchscreen11:28
tjaaltonyes?11:28
JamesWStubbsRight click has to be emulated11:29
JamesWStubbsLong press for right click11:29
tjaaltonso add support for it in evdev11:29
JamesWStubbsMy co-developer is working on that11:29
JamesWStubbsWhile I try to sort evtouch11:29
tjaaltonsounds like you should move on ;)11:29
JamesWStubbsUntil one of us solves the problem with either driver, I shouldn't move on.11:30
JamesWStubbsThere's a patch for right click he's working on compiling.11:31
tjaaltonwell, that's my advice anyway11:31
JamesWStubbsOk11:31

JamesWStubbsHello, im trying to compile evdev from source, I have a patch I need to apply https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=321924&action=diff&context=patch&collapsed=&headers=1&format=raw , I have used apt-get source xserver....evdev15:37
JamesWStubbsHow would I merge the two .diff ?15:37
JamesWStubbsSo they're both applied when I compile?15:37
cndRAOF, do you know when the new xorg-server will be uploaded?19:06
