RAOFvish: Does unity load if you add CLUTTER_VBLANK=none to the environment?07:29
vishRAOF: hi, i'v been trying from the live dailies, i tried that once but dint work..  should i try with Sarvatt's ppa?07:41
RAOFvish: Yeah.  The live dailies don't have mesa 7.9; there are still some problems with the packgaing, and some regressions I need to deal with.09:47
vishRAOF: so i just need to add it to /etc/environment and restart session?09:50
RAOFI think that should work.09:51
vishok , /me tries again.. :)09:51
RAOFI do it by starting a regular desktop session and running unity manually.09:51
vishRAOF: you add it to the ~/.profile? or the enviroment?09:52
RAOFI start unity with “CLUTTER_VBLANK=none unity” in a terminal.09:55

ari-tczewdo developers plan fix nvidia issue? bug 61602314:57
ubot4Launchpad bug 616023 in nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 1 other project) "nVidia card : X won't start since 1.9 update, no screens found (affects: 81) (dups: 3) (heat: 434)" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/61602314:57
jcristauari-tczew: it's something only nvidia can fix14:58
jcristauafaict14:58
ari-tczewjcristau: assigned to tseliot14:59
Sarvattspeaking of, 256.52 is out with xserver 1.9 support15:11
Sarvattoh should have read the scrollback, bjsnider already mentioned it :) it's in x-updates at any rate15:31
ari-tczewSarvatt: I'll install 256.52 and I'll give feedback whether it works15:50
Sarvattbjsnider: if you need a quick patch for backporting maverick+ nvidia-current to lucid - http://sarvatt.com/downloads/patches/nvidia-graphics-drivers-lucid-backport.patch16:10
Sarvattjcristau: you're hitting that annoying  problem where dist upgrading is bringing in fglrx/nvidia too in debian now? i can't for the life of me figure it out, dropping the breaks: for the last ABI from xorg-server is the only thing I can find that fixes it16:16
jcristauSarvatt: removing lenny from my sources.list fixed it16:17
Sarvatti need to get a machine in that state again and try replacing the breaks with a conflicts16:17
jcristauSarvatt: it's totally weird16:17
Sarvattoh? hmm16:17
jcristaui had to downgrade a machine from squeeze to lenny to test a stable update, and when upgrading back apt decided to pull in random crap16:18
jcristauand now intel is giving me grief16:22
bjsniderSarvatt, to lucid? you backport the drivers to lucid, not me. i stop at karmic16:27
Sarvattbjsnider: oh, why don't ya copy the ones out of x-updates into your PPA then? I remember you saying people were complaining about that16:29
Sarvattdarn, intel's ddx isn't split up as much as radeon's. was thinking it'd be easy to make Shadow default to on on 8xx generation but all of the options are handled in src/intel_driver.c16:40
jcristaushouldn't be too hard.16:41
jcristauthere's an IS_I8XX macro ;)16:42
bjsniderSarvatt, i tell them to go to the x-updates ppa, because i don't want to have drivers spread out all over the place. they do what i tell them to do16:48
ari-tczewSarvatt: Your package works fine - nvidia17:55
