[17:19] mr_pouit, cody-somerville : I am considering a blueprint proposal for Natty that includes contrasting colors in the panels and windows. These themes without enough contrast are not okay for visually impaired users [21:26] KE1HA: Anything happening to the docs? [21:27] Yeah, been working on them a bit after I finished the ISO testing I was doing. [21:28] :-) [21:29] Had lots of crashes the last couple days, but seems to e smoothing out a fair bit. [21:29] heh, that's good [21:29] Maverick is coming together [21:32] Yeah, I hope they do something whit the art-work on Ubuntu, did care too much for that setup. [21:32] I seem to be doing great today. I have managed to not answer almost everything I tried to answer [21:32] did not .. [21:32] That is also in work [21:32] mr_pouit, cody-somerville : I am considering a blueprint proposal for Natty that includes contrasting colors in the panels and windows. These themes without enough contrast are not okay for visually impaired users [21:33] charlie-tca, as the default theme? [21:33] also pushing accessibility is high on my list [21:33] yes, cody-somerville [21:33] I need a theme that things show up in. As nice as Abatross and Bluebird are, the contrast is very low [21:34] I am also pushing to get a decent high contrast theme into the wiki preferences [21:34] My eyes are going nuts again [21:36] cody-somerville: I don't know why we could not be the distribution that disabled users flock to, with a theme they can use as default. [21:37] * charlie-tca puts on leader hat [21:37] If the default theme can look great while being highly accessible than I think that would be wonderful. [21:37] Of course, it may not be feasible for this to happen, since we could lose users trying to do that [21:37] * charlie-tca takes off hat [21:38] We just need to get more contrast in the panels and icons, and the text. It is a lot of work to do that. [21:39] Maybe we could work at it a little at a time. [21:39] A second highly-accessible theme in addition to the default will probably be needed for some users. [21:40] Of course, but there are high and low contrast themes that can be used. No matter what we do, not all users will be able to use the defaults. [21:40] But we should certainly be conscious of opportunities to improve the default theme's accessibility and reduce eye strain it might be causing. [21:41] I still have hopes [21:41] to achieve that, it is necessary to start "sooner" (e.g. for maverick it was definitely too late) [21:42] I am not very patient with it, which does make it harder for me to discuss reasonably [21:42] Yes, mr_pouit. I agree. That's why I want to start now discussing it for Natty. If we start with that in mind, it will be easier to work towards it. [21:50] A theme that is both accessible and nice would really gain users. [21:57] Here ya go charlie-tca [ awk '$0!="" && !seen[$0]++' *-cfg ] works a treat, got from the guys in the bash channe. [21:57] Great! [21:58] Need it fer docs ;-) among other things. [22:05] Oh, yeah. Got another news article in Ubuntu Weekly News. Trying hard to get one a month about us, at least. [22:08] The more the better. I saw several requests to Join this or Join that after the last posting, so it has a + affect fer sure. [22:44] well, we got to keep trying, that's all. :-)
