I am new to the team and would like to introduce myself.. My name is Kevin McKinney and I am a masters student at Carnegie Mellon University [22:16] I am a C / C++ programmer (not an expert) and I am looking to help in any way. [22:16] I am interested in the gnome-device-manager package [22:18] is anyone working on this package?? Please let me know how I can help enhance this software. [22:20] kmckinney1: if you want to work on the upstream package you may want to contact the upstream author: http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/g/gnome-device-manager/gnome-device-manager_0.2-3/gnome-device-manager.copyright [22:21] kmckinney1: you'll find David on #gnome-hackers as davidz [22:22] but I'm sure he's not working on gnome-device-manager at the moment [22:23] if you want somebody to help you in your work, it's not the best package [22:24] okay, thanks milanbv [22:29] c_korn, thanks I will contact the upstream author [22:30] yw [22:33] i don't think nobody is working on gnome-device-manager. Unfortunately, it depends on HAL (which is deprecated now) [22:33] so, unless you're going to port it from HAL to udev, anything else you do to it will be wasted, as nobody will use it [22:35] yeah, I read that it needs to be ported to udev.. Do you have any How to documents you can share with me? [22:38] chrisccoulson, porting from HAL to udev seems like a major task, any information you can provide me would be great [22:49] kmckinney1: see for example http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/hotplug/gudev/ [22:49] thanks milanbv!! [22:50] good luck! [22:50] thanks
