[17:10] <geirha> It depends on the brand and model of the wireless interface. Some work out of the box, no fiddling needed. Some are just plain hell to get working because the manufacturer doesn't bother with drivers for linux.
[17:12] <geirha> ndiswrapper sort of "translates" a windows driver into a linux driver, so it allows you to use the windows driver in linux ... which sometimes work.
[17:13] <geirha> equivocate: You should be able to find the brand and model of the wireless interface in the manual that came with the laptop, or on the manufacturer's website.  If you can find that, we can look it up and see if it's problematic in linux or not.
