[06:37] So what would be a reasonable means of submitting a bug in regards of: I just had a laptop freezing insanely, just trying to install an application, with an average system load at a peak of 13, and averagely 11. [06:37] With update-apt-xapian-index raping the processor, and software-center and various dpkg tools taking top priority of harddrive usage, making the system completely unusable. [06:37] on 10.10 [06:38] Happens pretty much anytime installing an application or doing updates. [06:39] and in totem, with basic audio playback, there's occasional stutters; while VLC is completely unusable in regards of stuttering endlessly. [16:04] Psychodelius: Many of us simply run the ISO images in a virtual machine. It saves destroying the installation we use daily. [16:05] Some, myself included, use VirtualBox but also have a separate computer to allow hardware testing, too. [16:10] some of us have multiple sets of HW to test on and don't tend to both with the VM's [16:11] There's also a tool called checkbox that some of us use for system testing [16:11] And there's a lot of ad-hoc specific testing we do without specific testing tools for it, just written test cases [16:17] alright, thank you all very much for your advice. i'll look into all these [16:18] I live in an apartment where space is a premium [16:18] Psychodelius: If you're interested in helping to test ISO images (in a virtual machine or otherwise) you might be interested in the ubuntu-qa-tools package [16:19] I had to throw away so much hardware previously (til my heart bled) [16:19] It has (among other things) scripts to automatically keep images sync'd to the latest version [16:19] fader_: thank yo. Yes, I am looking into it right now [16:19] Cool :) [16:21] alright, going to bed now [16:21] see you all [16:21] later === yofel_ is now known as yofel
