LinuxPhreakI need to make an Alternate Install Disk out of my current Ubuntu Installation. I really don't know where to get info on how to do this. I've posted a quested on launch pad about this. All I really need is info on how to make my current installation into an Alternate Installation CD for my company02:25

aramorning all!10:24
araev, morning10:55
ograev, just fyi, i get proper -desktop in the preset hostname entry on armel now11:11
evgood morning ara and ogra11:18
evogra: wonderful, thanks!11:18
araev, have you seen this bug found during last week ubiquity testing? bug 64167611:18
ubot2Launchpad bug 641676 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "Ubiquity installer gives options to install non-free software during Install using Free-software only option (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/64167611:18
evI think I caught that over the weekend.  Fixing now.11:19
araev, thanks11:20
evRiddell: your implementation of the prepare page lacks the MP3 license notice.  Might I convince you to implement it? :)12:15
evit should appear just beneath the install non-free stuff checkbox12:16
evand the text is ubiquity/text/prepare_foss_disclaimer_extra_label12:16
Riddellev: an alternative would be to remove gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 from kubuntu-restricted-addons12:17
RiddellI don't know why it's in there, we don't use it12:17
evwhat do you use?12:17
Riddelllibxine1-ffmpeg12:17
Riddelland I should add kopete-gcall too12:18
evah, fair enough12:19
evI'll leave it as is then12:19
CIA-28ubiquity: evand * r4374 trunk/ (debian/changelog ubiquity/plugins/ubi-prepare.py):12:31
CIA-28ubiquity: Disable the non-free software option if multiverse and restricted12:31
CIA-28ubiquity: are disabled via preseed (LP: #641676).12:31
CIA-28ubiquity: evand * r4375 trunk/debian/changelog: LP bug reference.12:31
=== rgreening_ is now known as rgreening
Riddellev: what's the relationship between ubuntu-restricted-addons and ubuntu-restricted-extras ?14:37
evubuntu-restricted-extras = ubuntu-restricted-addons + MS fonts + multiverse gstreamer plugins + unrar + and a few other bits14:38
evubuntu-restricted-addons is the stuff that legal was happy hiding behind a checkbox14:38
Riddellev: do you think I can add kopete-gcall to kubuntu-restricted-addons?  depends on libmediastreamer0 which depends on libavcodec5214:42
Riddelllibxine1-ffmpeg also depends on libavcodec52 so that should be fine14:42
evyeah, libxine1-ffmpeg is in main and kopete-gcall is in universe14:44
evsounds reasonable14:44
evthough if you're concerned, check with legal14:44
evAndrew specifically, as he's the one that's helped us with all of this while Amanda has been on other projects14:45
Riddellev: I take it the css installing bits didn't happen?14:56
evRiddell: correct14:57
Riddellev: if I tick the tickbox during install it should end up with kubuntu-restricted-addons installed but not kubuntu-restricted-extras?15:57
evRiddell: indeed15:58
Riddellev: hum, I ended up with both installed15:58
evah, yikes16:00
evfixing now16:00
Riddellev: what caused that?16:01
CIA-28ubiquity: evand * r4376 trunk/ (debian/changelog ubiquity/plugins/ubi-prepare.py): Install kubuntu-restricted-addons, not kubuntu-restricted-extras.16:02
Riddellev: bug 64361416:02
ubot2Launchpad bug 643614 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "KDE frontend installs kubuntu-restricted-extras (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/64361416:02
evRiddell: we were telling it to :)16:03
CIA-28ubiquity: evand * r4377 trunk/debian/changelog: LP bug reference.16:03
Riddellmm, yes16:04
* Riddell wonders what http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu is16:08
Riddelland why I don't have the repo key for it16:08
CIA-28ubiquity: evand * r4378 trunk/ (debian/changelog ubiquity/plugins/ubi-usersetup.py): Clear hostname error when fixed (LP: #640661).16:13
cjwatsonRiddell: mvo is on it, there'll be an ubuntu-extras-keyring or similar16:18
cjwatsonRiddell: it's the third-party applications repository for software-center16:18
cjwatson(free software, I'm told)16:18
Riddellstill not enabling partner by default I see, I'm surprised none of our clients have complained about that16:21
Riddellev: do you know if there's a reason why libdvdread4 isn't in restricted-extras/addons ?16:22
evshould be.  gstreamer0.10-plugins-{bad,ugly} depend on it16:23
Riddellah, but that doesn't do it for Kubuntu, I'll add it directly16:23
cjwatsonRiddell: deliberate - software-center copes even if it's disabled16:24
cjwatsonI'd rather not turn on something that includes non-redistributable software by default; it will take a very explicit and authoritative instruction to get me to do that16:25
Riddellcjwatson: due to ethical or practical considerations?16:26
cjwatsonethical16:27
cjwatsonwell I suppose sort of practical, but it's over a boundary for me I think16:28
CIA-28ubiquity: evand * r4379 trunk/ (debian/changelog scripts/plugininstall.py): Deal with broken /cdrom symlinks (LP: #642274).16:33
ScottKRiddell: The extras thing is for software that's so urgent to get available to users it can't wait for the development cycle to complete, but that is also not good enough to be in Ubuntu.17:02
