[01:38] hi there [01:39] hi [01:39] ScottL, did you have any feedback from Luke about the resolution of the foomatic iso install bug? I just got a pcmcia firewire card to test my audio gear and want to do some rt testing [01:39] cool [01:40] TI chipset? [01:40] ronj: nice, you remind mee, i also need to buy one express card with a TI chip.... [01:40] holstein, dunno yet, part of the fun will be to see whether it works or not... [01:40] hehe [01:40] i had a via one that worked well too [01:40] is it TI ronj ? [01:40] pci card with via chip [01:41] wait [01:41] can you give model and brand? [01:41] this is what I bought: http://www.pc-bits.co.uk/0069-900878-B000UZMZQW-Startech_1_Port_USB_20_and_2_Port_FireWire_ExpressCard_Laptop_Combo_Adapter_Card.html [01:42] it is a 34mm PCMCIA card [01:42] its the agere 's that i can get to do anything [01:42] great :) [01:43] and on my production machine it's whatever dell put and I never had any problem [01:43] eh [01:43] ronj: it might be cool [01:43] why are you interested in this? is this exotic? are there usually compatibility issues [01:43] i cant get my latency down because of the chipset [01:43] you never know what chipset they put in there really [01:43] yup [01:43] TI chipsets are the goods [01:43] for linux [01:43] TI is the most stable chipset for audio [01:44] oh sure, I guess some chipset are better than others [01:44] holstein: not only linux [01:44] ronj: nah [01:44] some just plain suck [01:44] ^^ [01:44] well wait let me boot a livecd and see what's in. what should I use for this pcmcia thing? lspci ? [01:48] TI XIO2200 [01:48] weeeeeeell good but I'm unable to see it in lspci :-/ [01:49] ooooooh: "expresscard: disabled" in the BIOS [01:49] must explain this [01:49] :) [01:49] lol [01:49] ronj: usually that is called an EPIC FAIL [01:50] lol [01:50] rlameiro, heh at least I realized it, so it must be a semi-EPICFAIL [01:51] well, on that you are very true [01:51] just FAIL then [01:51] hehe [01:51] well, most of people would shout out to everyone saying that linux sucks, that nothing works [01:51] etc etc etc.... [01:52] yay! FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments XI02200(A) [01:52] grrrrrrrreat [01:52] lucky boy [01:52] you got the nice stuff [01:54] oh by the way, [announce] I recently bought two control surfaces: a Korg nanoKontrol as a portable cheap mixer, and a Behringer FCB1010 as a foot controller for sampling / triggering. if anyone here has similar crap and would like to share tips/advice, would be great [01:54] Some BIOS implementations provide user interfaces to enable/disable parts so that folks who don't use stuff can save power. Often these are end-user adjustable. [01:55] cool ronj , you should announce that in #opensourcemusicians [01:55] ive seen chatter about that foot controller [01:55] holstein, thanks, didn't know this channel, is it on freenode? [01:55] yup [01:55] ronj: I have a FCB1010!!!! [01:56] rlameiro: i bet you were the one chattering about it ;) [01:56] ronj, i do not yet, i haven't heard from him but i'll give him a poke though :) [01:56] holstein: probably [01:56] thanks ScottL [01:57] ronj: its a pain in the ass to programm it, but there is some guys that make a firmware for it, and then its way more easy , and you can programm it on your computer :D [01:57] rlameiro, yup I just ordered a UnO chip [01:58] lol :D [01:58] 16euros, fine bugfixing and nice addons, I'm sold [01:58] i need to order mine [01:58] I just use the default settings it comes from factory [01:58] oh you have a FCB1010 too? [01:58] i love puredata :D [01:58] yes I have [01:59] rlameiro, cool. I'm just discovering it and am fiddling with sooperlooper and rakarrack. do you have interesting software / advice to share? [01:59] ronj: i use it on this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNsOtl8ia0k [02:00] ronj: my advice is puredata, but i know that that its not for everyone [02:01] well, need to go to bed, cya tomorrow, good luck ronj , bye holstein [02:01] rlameiro, I never ever tried puredata (quite intimidating at the beginning) but ok I take note [02:01] thanks rlameiro, good night [02:01] rlameiro: GN :) [09:28] ta souris commence à deconner [09:28] sorry [09:28] not the good window
