Catoptromancyalt-f# to a tty and "sudo reboot", on the reboot a single user system loses most group permissions03:49
CatoptromancyI manually added my user back to the groups, maybe got them all03:51
Catoptromancymaybe...03:55
Catoptromancythe reason why I had to reboot from a tty was the actual reason03:55
Catoptromancymouse moved fine and could select irssi, but every other button, window, workspace was nonresponsive03:56
Catoptromancyill test that in a bit heh03:56

njinpedro_: every on hollydays fellow, are you around ??16:07
pedro_njin, i'm around yes :-=16:07
njinpedro_: welcome back, when i right click on a file and select open with another app and appearing much icons of the same application (sometime with a little difference in the name) at wich application assign to ?16:11
pedro_njin, at the application showing those icons16:11
pedro_njin, nautilus just shows what the application is registering there16:11
pedro_njin, didn't we talked about a similar bug a few weeks ago?16:12
njinpedro_: i'm thinking that this bug is running from years ago16:12
njini don't remember16:13
njinit was in xp too16:15
pedro_njin, so you're tracking windows reports too ? :-P16:17
njinpedro_: noo, i remember only the old times when i cannot understand what they are meaning ! :-D, but i don't know at wich packages assign, and in the cases that we have a dulicated icon with a different name (manager - reader) ?16:21
pedro_ah ok :-)16:21
pedro_njin, ask the user to launch that application and give you the name of the application that it opens, it might give you an idea to which package you need to assign that report16:22
njini've got this bug too, and with differents applications16:23
charlie-tcapedro_: we scheduled a bug day for 2010-09-3016:24
pedro_charlie-tca, i saw that on the meeting log! Thanks a lot !16:24

charlie-tcahggdh: ping17:38
hggdhcharlie-tca: at your service, sir17:38
charlie-tcaMaverick Ubuntu installed today17:38
charlie-tcafloppy drive fails in Ubuntu. There is an entry in /etc/fstab for it, but when you click on it in Places, nothing happens17:39
charlie-tcaIt does have a folder in /media though17:39
charlie-tcaIt just seems to give an error when accessing after the first attempt. "Unable to scan Floppy Drive for media changes"17:42
charlie-tcaOpening it in /media/floppy0 shows an empty folder, and I can not paste files into it17:42
charlie-tcaIt really is pretty much useless, apparently17:46
hggdhcharlie-tca: can you please comment out the floppy entry in fstab, and try again?17:49

Flare183I think I've found a solution to bug #36644817:53
ubot2Launchpad bug 366448 in ubuntu "[needs-packaging] Nosefart (heat: 10)" [Wishlist,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/36644817:53

charlie-tcahggdh: same error accessing the floppy from Places17:54
hggdhdarn!17:54
hggdhcharlie-tca: could you please open a bug on this? You are the only one with the hardware, and dmesg will probably help...17:55
charlie-tcaheh, Okay17:55
charlie-tcaI will do it17:56
hggdhFlare183: a man page is not a patch... and I am unsure on how it helps on packaging nosefart17:57
Flare183hggdh: Read the last comment before mine17:57
Flare183"I've unassigned myself. I plan to look at it again once, someone creates man pages for the software."17:57
Flare183I've created the man page for it17:57
hggdhFlare183: oh, I see, sorry...17:58

Jordan_UI'm encountering a lot of people running into a bug where ubiquity sees their drive as having no partitions, just completely unallocated space. I think the bug is in parted, and I haven't encountered it myself but one person I'm working with now almost lost an entire hard drive's worth of important files because of it.20:28
Jordan_UI haven't found it reported already from searching though I may have missed it. Does anyone know if this has been filed already?20:29
njinpedro_: assign to grub or update manager ?https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/64315420:39
ubot2Launchpad bug 643154 in ubuntu "upgrade to maverick interrupted due to overlapping dialog box (affects: 1) (heat: 454)" [Undecided,New]20:39
charlie-tcanjin: does it work if you don't try to enable Visual Effects? If so, it is VBox bug20:43
charlie-tcarather, RVWare bug20:43
charlie-tcaVMware?20:43
njincharlie-tca: i don't understand, the problem is that the grub config window is under the update manager window and is not recallable over this one, but i think is better to test this on real hardware20:50
charlie-tcaafter attempting to enable visual effects in VMWare. If that failure to enable the effects made the keyboard malfunction so you can not select the window later, it is VMWare causing the bug20:51
charlie-tcaIf you can do the install and the keys work without attempting to enable the visual effects, it is VMWare causing this issue20:51
njincharlie-tca: sorry, i've understand the visual effects of ubuntu20:52
charlie-tcaThis doesn't exist on real hardware.20:52
njinbetter, i mark as invalid then20:53
charlie-tcano, it is valid in vmware perhaps. As to have it reproduced without trying visual effects20:54
njinwe give support for vmware then ?20:55
charlie-tcaWe don't actually know where the bug exists yet, do we?20:57
charlie-tcaIf it is an installer/update-manger bug, we will fix it20:58
njintomorrow i will test it on a real hardware20:59
njinGood night everybody21:01
