Kurdistan:) I fixed my own problem21:19
Kurdistanformat it to ex3 solved my issue21:19
Kurdistanlubuntu maverick here I come :)21:20
Kurdistanbrb21:20
gosi need a menu like gnomenu for lxde21:27
phillwgos: that would require more 'eye candy' and therefore greater resources of the computer it is running on. The constant battle to maintain "A Pentium II or Celeron system with 128 MiB of RAM is probably a bottom-line configuration" is not easy for the developers to comply to, but the decision is that lubuntu must be able to run on such a machine.21:28
gosok but my computer have 2g of ram and 2mhz cpu21:29
phillwgos: you are welcome to install whatever you want, have a quick look at http://forum.phillw.net/viewforum.php?f=18 to see some of the crazy things we've done to our lubuntu installations :-)21:31
gosphillw, I also have modified it a little Lubuntu: http://picasaweb.google.es/112370194056728732538/Gos?authkey=Gv1sRgCMri5qmjk5-2vQE#slideshow/552075486397033997021:35
phillwI'd like to link that to the 'crazy things we do' on my forum, with your permission.21:37
gosok21:37
gosyou have my license21:38
phillwwould you email me the pics to phillw@phillw.net, with a quick note to say it is okay to use them.21:39
phillwand when you get the time, would you email me with how you did it. It will not be in the official area, but as you can see; I do keep some unofficial stuff on the lubuntu area of my forum.21:40
gosok now im very tired but i will do it more later21:41
phillwthanks gos21:48
gosphillw, gnomenu developer should make a cool menu for lxde21:50
phillwgos: we don't use gnome, too resource hungry.21:51
phillwbut work is being carried out on things like lxappearance etc.21:52
gosyes because the lxde menu is very ugly  and minimalist21:53
phillwgos, as i stated earlier; that is a resource issue. Eye candy uses RAM and processor power, there are fully fledged ubuntu with full gnome stuff. that is not the target for lubuntu.21:58
gosphillw, but Lubuntu  is faster, boots faster, lighter, saves more energy in the battery, which ubuntu, but have to work hard on your desktop to be as usable as a desktop in ubuntu21:59
floatingthinking of installing a linux os to a netbook and thought i try lubuntu. i read this log mentioning a bug and problems installing 10.10 beta/alpha from the usbstick.. should I install 10.04, or wait some days til 10.10 is released, or just try the beta now21:59
phillwfloating: for some it is working fine, but it is still a pre-release. Either use the 10.04 or wait until 10th October (possibly 11th for lubuntu 10.10).22:00
SeqI've installed Lubuntu 10.10 Beta 2 successfully from a USB stick today and it worked well, except that the USB stick showed a command prompt22:01

phillw10.04 is a stable release, 10.10 is in its final test phase.22:05

Seqand Lubuntu 10.04 is not a LTS release (although it will be provided with Ubuntu related updates anyway)22:06

phillwTimo_: in all fairness, we are not officially adopted, it was nice of them to approve of the channel having it.22:08
Timo_yup, but this is yet another step forward into getting it adopted!22:09
Timo_Question! I've got lubuntu beta 1 on my desktop, can I upgrade to beta2 from within the system? I think yes?22:09
phillwYup, I do not the us knocked back on something silly.22:10
phillwTimo_: the updates will come automatically to you.22:10
gosi have lubuntu 10.04.1 lts land my distribution  is lubuntu22:10
phillwgos: the extra .1 was added by ubuntu as part of the continued support of an LTS (even though lubuntu 10.04 is not LTS).22:11

phillwgos: the kernel system will be supported as per a LTS, but the lubuntu part is still evolving.22:15
nhandlerphillw: I didn't do much with either of those things ;)22:18
gosLubuntu applications will be reviewed or corrected?22:18
murathey guys22:19
murat:) I use lubuntu22:19
=== murat is now known as Guest12315
phillwgos: any serious bugs are corrected, I'm not too sure on the adding of extra functions during an LTS series. I do know it requires heavy testing to get something altered for an LTS.22:19

Kurdistanhey again22:20
KurdistanI want to report a bug22:20

phillwnhandler: I'll OP myself.22:21
Kurdistanwhen I use the opensource nvidia drivers it is fast22:21
nhandlerphillw: You don't need to OP yourself to run that command22:21
phillwKurdistan: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Developers/Maverick/Beta/2 has the known bugs in the beta222:21
nhandlerphillw: Might I also suggest doing: /msg chanserv flags #lubuntu *!*@freenode/staff/* +votiA       ? That will give freenode staff access to intervene in an emergency if the channel operators are not around22:22
phillwnhandler: let me try...22:22

Kurdistanmake computer run slower and ubuntu splash screen comes up when you make restart22:23

hyperairi mean if the situation arises where this privilege is needed22:39
Timo_why would such event happen, we're on freenode! Only nice blokesi n here! :D22:41
* phillw has had a good read of http://freenode.net/catalysts.shtml as per a request made to me. Hopefully things never to come to the point of having to kick, but as lubuntu gets a wider audience it is sadly inevitable we will get trolls.22:41
