tgm4883tzanger, what about the link that says "Add to Existing Ubuntu Install" that is right on this page http://www.mythbuntu.org/download-type02:09
tgm4883does that work for you :)02:09
tzangerhmm, is there any way to get mythtv's upnp server to show not only recordings but videos that are on the server?14:27
tzangershould I set up mediatomb for that instead?14:27
rhpot1991ComradeH1z`: I've used it once14:36
=== mvetketel is now known as bogus-
mrandgrrr.   So this weekend I realized I hadn't upgraded my production machine 10.04 (I think tgm4883 and I were having a mexican standoff on who could wait the longest)  I thought I had, but I guess I just strongly considered it and then didn't have time before go overseas (and I think the fact that 10.04.1 was weeks away factored into the decision).20:43
mrandNow that I'm back and the new release is about to come out, apparently I'm not supposed to upgrade to 10.04.1:   ERROR Dist-upgrade failed: 'The package 'ubuntu-desktop' is marked for removal but it is in the removal blacklist.'20:43
tgm4883mrand, you have to remove ubuntu-desktop20:44
mrandI don't want to.20:44
tgm4883superm1, ^20:44
mrandmore properly, why should I?20:45
* tgm4883 shrugs20:45
tgm4883I just know it works :)20:45
tgm4883i've seen other users report the same20:45
superm1do you have mythbuntu-desktop and ubuntu-desktop both installed?20:45
tgm4883removing ubuntu-desktop, then reinstalling ubuntu-desktop after upgrade20:45
mrandsuperm1: yes, I do have both installed.20:46
superm1sounds like an update-manager bug then20:46
mrandYeah, sounds like the one I reported before 10.04 even got released.20:46
splashdI'm using the Hauppage HD-PVR wih Mythbuntu 10.04, recording 1080i and 720p. WOrks fine, but stores in h.264. I am using ION based frontends and VDPAU. Does anyone have anyone know how to solve an audio lag problem? I suspect it is because of underpowered decoding, but is there a config I can use to make it less overhead intensive to decode H.264?21:28
rhpot1991splashd: verified its using VDPAU?21:29
rhpot1991the ION frontned21:29
splashdyes--I've set to VDPAU Slim, works great for my HDHOmerun HD setup, just has audio lag on the HD-PVR stuff21:31
rhpot1991splashd: ION should run VDPAU Normal21:32
rhpot1991try that21:32
rhpot1991mine runs HD-PVR content just fine21:32
rhpot1991splashd: did you go into your ION's bios and increase the dedicated video memory?21:33
rhpot1991and what kind of network?21:33
splashdrhpot1991, I will try VDPAU normal again, but I think it caused stuttering last time  did that21:33
splashdI did not mess with BIOS--good suggestion21:34
rhpot1991should bump it in there, to 512 if you can21:34
rhpot1991256 should do, but go 512 if you can21:34
splashd100MB wired--again works fine with higher bitrate MPeg2 from HDhomerun21:34
splashdstandby--I will try now21:34
rhpot1991may need to check that your bios is up todate if it wont let you set memory for video21:34
rhpot1991splashd: wired should be just fine21:34
splashdAFK21:35
splashdrhpot1991, This could take a while--a big mythbuntu update is downloading, so I'm waiting to reboot...I'll let you know if upping the buffering helps.21:47
splashdWhat did help a lot initially was updating to the latest Nvidia drivers21:47
mrandsuperm1: we thought we fixed the mythbuntu-desktop thing: Bug 55467622:03
ZinnBug 554676 in mythbuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu) "8.04LTS->10.04LTS upgrade failed: 'mythbuntu-desktop' missing meta-pkg?" [High, Fix Released] http://www.launchpad.net/bugs/55467622:03
superm1mrand, well it might be a similar manifestation of that22:12
apothegmI'm having issues getting my GYR3101 working via Lirc.  I followed the wiki instructions but something is awry.  IRW is saying connection refused.  lircd is giving me "lircd: can't open or create /var/run/lirc/lircd.pid"23:20
splashdapothegm, make sure you look in /etc/lirc and confirm that there is both an lircd.conf and a hardware.conf, and that you're running lircd service23:34
apothegmyup23:35
apothegmI followed those wiki instructions EXACTLY.23:36
mrandI should break out my gyration remote and play with it.  I don't know if I'll have time tonight, but we'll see.  What version are you on, apothegm?23:36
apothegmI found some bug reports related to the "lircd: can't open or create /var/run/lirc/lircd.pid" which suggested creating lirc under /var/run because it DID NOT exist.  after creating it I can run lircd from console, but it doesn't fix the problem23:36
apothegmMythbuntu 10.0423:37
apothegmI think LIRC is broken23:37
mrandlirc in 10.04 probably isn't broken in general... to many people use that.23:37
mrandthe bug reports related to the .pid file - where they on launchpad?23:38
apothegmmrand: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lirc/+bug/474701/23:42
Zinn[bugs.launchpad.net] Bug #474701 in lirc (Ubuntu): “Can't start lirc: "lircd: can't open or create /var/run/lirc/lircd.pid"”23:42
mrandapothegm: interesting.  I may have to take back that it isn't broken in general, although I can't immediately explain why such few users would run into this problem.  I just looked on my 9.10 system (what the bug was originally opened again) and that directory exists.  I have a few test installs on different release versions I can check tonight.23:47
apothegmand if I reboot my mythbuntu 10.04 box, it removes /var/run/lirc23:49
mrandIs lircd supposed to create that every run?23:51
mrandkinda strange, I know.23:52
mrandsuperm1: ^23:52
superm1i think it does23:52
mrandactually, I think that may be the case...23:52
mrandeverything in my /var/run is dated from the last reboot23:52
mrandapothegm: is lircd running?23:55
apothegmyes23:55
apothegmwithout lirc under /var/run, lircd from the console errors out23:56
apothegmand a reboot wipes that directory23:56
apothegmso I have to mkdir /var/run/lirc23:56
apothegmbut it doesn't help me anyway23:56
apothegmI think I've officially spent too much time messing with this.  might just go the xmodmap route23:57
mrandapothegm: be sure to subscribe to that bug so that if anyone finds a solution, you'll be notified.23:58
apothegmanyone else have a 10.04 install that can test it?23:59
tgm4883I do, but i'm not at home23:59
apothegmthis is practically a fresh copy of 10.04 from iso with little to no updates23:59
