MossyfunkI have lubuntu 10.04 on a bootable flash drive but cant boot from it..... is there a way to install from running another live cd?03:40
head_victimIs there a place I can download a Lubuntu 10.10 ISO anywhere? I realise the beta2 was taken down for space reasons so I don't mind an older one if it's available.10:48
bioterrorhead_victim, torrent should work11:06
head_victimbioterror: ah k, I'll look into it then. Any suggestions for torrent program to use? I've never used torrents before.11:07
bioterrorfor which operating system11:08
head_victimUbuntu11:08
bioterroryou should have transmission by default11:09
head_victimbioterror: cheers, not as hard as I anticipated. My local mirror doesn't carry lubuntu is all.11:11

KukuNutlubuntu ?day to go?15:13
OwaisLhi, I am trying to install lubuntu 10.10 beta2, but I can't start the installer from live cd. It is asking for root password.15:40
leszekOwaisL: try to start with sudo from within the terminal15:41
leszekit shouldn't ask for a password as there is no one set15:41
OwaisLand that would be sudo ubiquity-gtk15:41
OwaisL?15:41
leszekI think so15:42
zer067Hi to everyone17:05
Tir_Eoghanuh oh, think I'm officially breaking my os hehe18:05
nothingspecialMark76: I see you got my message :)18:44
Mark76Yeah, I did. Thanks :)18:45
nothingspecialMark76: Sorry I missed you18:45
Mark76No problem18:46
Mark76So what brings you to this room?18:49
nothingspecialMark76: Just because I have lubuntu on one of my boxes18:50
Mark76Do you swap openbox for something snazzier too?18:51
nothingspecialNo18:51
nothingspecialI kind of like it, plus I have a very heavily edited rc.xml18:52
Mark76Fair enough18:52
Mark76I find it a bit too basic18:52
nothingspecialAs you know, I have full blown gnome as well. But it runs very well on my netbook18:53
Mark76That's cool18:53
Mark76What specs does your netbook have?18:53
nothingspecialI tried it because someone was having difficulty in a forum I moderate... and I like it18:54
Mark76Gnome?18:54
nothingspecial1gig ram, and one of those atom things that is going to break anytime soon18:55
nothingspecialNo lubuntu18:55
Mark76Oh right18:55
Mark76I have 1 gig of RAM too18:55
Mark76And I'm on a desktop :(18:55
nothingspecialI have various old and broken pcs that do jobs for me. Four of them cost a combined £2018:56
nothingspecialpcs = pc/netbooks18:57
Mark76A thousand pounds!? It's outrageous. I shan't pay it18:57
nothingspecialha ha18:57
Mark76God, I love that show18:57
Mark76And I'm way outside the target demographic18:58
nothingspecialAre you very old or very young?18:58
Mark76I'm 4418:58
Mark76But good comedy is good comedy no matter what time of day it's broadcast18:59
nothingspecialYour only 9 years older than me, I though you were going to say 7618:59
Mark76Heh18:59
Mark76No18:59
nothingspecialCan`t beat Faulty Towers in my book18:59

mmaksimov#join #lubuntu-offtopic20:38
semitonesis there such a channel?20:52
semitonesguess there is :P20:53
semitonesI thought lubuntu was going to be official for 10.10. Did they decide depending on the official repos was too much hassle?20:53
mmaksimovughm, I believe lubuntu just couldn't get into schedule for being official in 10.10. It is still a goal, but probably for 11.04 cycle ;)21:05
mark76What are the chances?21:08
mmaksimovnot sure, you may ask on the maillist or wait until Julien Lavergne appears here on the channel21:10
=== lubuntu is now known as gnubuntu
mmaksimovpersonally, I'm quite comfortable with setting up several PPA-only packages.... however, I haven't yet switched to lubuntu on my "working" machine...21:11
mark76Probably best not to for now21:21
mmaksimovwhy? the only feature I actually miss at the moment is locking the system when restoring from suspend/hibernate21:25
mark76Well if the developers don't think it's ready to become an official buntu21:27
mmaksimover.... the developers of which component?21:29
mark76Ubuntu21:31
mmaksimovcan't remember anything "official" regarding lubuntu being (not) ready...21:33
mark76Okay21:34

Tir_Eoghanso lubuntu 10.10 is getting released in two days right?23:23
phillwTir_Eoghan: lubuntu can run a dayor so behind, as it cannot be built until the ubuntu release comes out.23:27
Tir_Eoghanphillw, ah, good to know23:28
Tir_Eoghanphillw, thanks for giving me all the info and confidence to try lubuntu. Finally have 10.04 installed and it runs beautifully.. well that is until I installed flash, but thats kind of expected *grin*23:28
phillwlol, flash is a problem accross the entire system. with 10.10 comes our own set of restricted extras which include flash etc.23:29
Tir_Eoghanflash is a problem in windows too..23:30
Tir_EoghanI installed it then started getting the old familiar flash errors in websites.. and remembered what it was like, at least when flash crashes in this system it doesn't take down the whole os. just itself23:31
Tir_Eoghanstill, I can't wait to upgrade and remove flash entirely..23:31
Tir_Eoghaninstalled it as an experiment to see if my puter could watch streaming video on this light of a os, naturally doesn't matter how light the os is, flash is just a flawed program23:32
phillwTir_Eoghan: you-tube are running a trial with html5, which chromium supports. no need for flash at all :)23:34
Tir_Eoghanphillw, ooh, nice.. That will be a good improvement.. now if they can just work out the problem with all the content being poor in youtube it might be worth watching.23:35
phillwlol, lubuntu cannot do anything about what people post up ;)23:36
Tir_Eoghanonly so many times one can watch cats falling off couches before one goes completely insane23:36
Tir_Eoghanlol23:37
phillwbut as proof of concept it is useful.23:37
Tir_Eoghanalthough wouldn't that be a brilliant update. "Lubuntu, now adds taste and quality to content providers content"23:37
Tir_Eoghan"Tried watching an Uwe Boll movie in theaters? Now, try watching it on Lubuntu, and see the improvement. The OS that makes the media seem competent"23:39
Tir_Eoghanjust a little flight of fancy there..23:40
phillwlol23:41
Tir_Eoghanjust wish hulu would switch to html5, hulu occasionally has decent content23:43
Tir_EoghanI think I'll give 10.10 beta 2 an install this weekend23:45
Tir_Eoghannow that I've gotten used to not being afraid of updates (windows), I feel like having the updated version.23:47
Tir_Eoghanthanks for the info, I'm heading out to do some errands23:55
