qwebirc27041Firstly thanks in advance for any replys12:11
qwebirc27041I have the following configuration Radeon9200SE AGP , P4 1.7Mhz, 1.256 Gig Ram12:12
qwebirc27041I am currently having issues with live tv stuttering even on SD channels, my source is DVB-T card12:13
qwebirc27041The stuttering is constant and looks like the tv is only displaying 15 frames per second instead of 2512:14
qwebirc27041Any suggestions? Thanks again12:14

tzangerit really is a shame that a cutlist isn't supported by the DLNA spec15:20
mrandOnce you know the cutlist is correct, you could always transcode.15:22
tzangermrand: I never transcode recordings, they're transient15:23
tzangerI'm not going to watch a show twice to make sure the cutlist is good :-)15:23
mrandheh.  I'm not going to disagree with you much ;-)15:24
tzangeralthough I have determined now that I can transcode to iphone's format readily I'll be transcoding it over as it records for most of the shows15:28
qwebirc37403I run ubuntu, lucid, just installed Mythbuntu.. setup with the mythbuntu control center.. what next? :)17:41
tgm4883qwebirc27041, run mythtv-setup and set up your backend17:41
qwebirc37403i c17:43
qwebirc37403in mythtv-setup, not able to login to database, with root login info.  Do I need to manually create a mysql user, database?17:47
tgm4883qwebirc27041, no17:47
tgm4883In MCC, how did you install mythtv?17:47
qwebirc37403vague question.. don't remember each step.. just went down the list, when I get to mysql config it opens mythtv-setup17:50
tgm4883In MCC, on the system roles tab, what does it say for backend role?17:51
qwebirc37403secondary17:52
tgm4883do you have another mythtv backend on your network?17:52
qwebirc37403do..set to primary then ?17:53
tgm4883yea17:53
qwebirc37403*no17:53
qwebirc37403k17:53
tgm4883primary will install the mysql server for you and should set up the users17:53
qwebirc37403"mysql plugin not filled out"17:53
tgm4883hmm17:53
tgm4883superm1, ^17:53
qwebirc37403test connection was green before, now red17:54
tgm4883how was it green if you don't have another backend?17:55
tgm4883odd17:55
qwebirc37403i run lucid, i already have mysql installed17:56
qwebirc37403also get "cannot fine /.ICEauthority" on login17:56
tgm4883install mythtv-backend-master17:57
qwebirc37403when I first ran MCC, the mysql test was green... then I ran setup, wouldn't connect with default user info17:57
qwebirc37403changed to my login info, now red17:58
tgm4883to your login info?17:58
tgm4883that would be wrong17:58
qwebirc37403my root mysql login info17:58
tgm4883that still would be incorrect, although it should work17:59
qwebirc37403thought it'd need that to create user/tables17:59
tgm4883install mythtv-backend-master at the command line, then it should prompt you for your root mysql info17:59
tgm4883it will, but it might be having issues because you have mysql server installed already. MCC doesn't account for that I think18:00
tgm4883so you need to install mythtv-backend-master from the command line18:00
tgm4883it should set that up for you18:00
qwebirc37403only option in MBM is "automatically run mythfilldatabase"18:04
tgm4883MBM?18:04
qwebirc37403no  place to specify login info18:04
qwebirc37403mythtv-backend-master18:04
qwebirc37403:)18:04
tgm4883you installed that?18:04
qwebirc37403yes18:05
tgm4883did it install mythtv-database?18:05
qwebirc37403ahh.. yes18:05
tgm4883!mysql | qwebirc3740318:05
Zinnqwebirc37403: If you are having problems connecting to your mysql database, you can perform the following to reconfigure it: 1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 (pay attention to the root password you set, you will need it for the next step) 2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database 3. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common18:05
tgm4883you can probably skip step 1 of that18:06
qwebirc37403well it created the db, still showing no connection in MCC18:08
tgm4883don't worry about mcc at the moment18:09
tgm4883so you went through those steps I posted?18:09
qwebirc37403launching mythtv setup now opens the mythv-backend-master, which doesn't provide fields for specifying mysql login18:09
qwebirc37403step 1 isn't going to remove my databases, is it?18:10
tgm4883did you do the reconfigure on mythtv-database and mythtv-common?18:10
tgm4883<tgm4883> you can probably skip step 1 of that18:10
qwebirc66721yes18:11
tgm4883ok, so you have reconfigured both of those and are now in mythtv-setup?18:12
qwebirc66721yes << did all 4 steps18:12
tgm4883there was a step 4?18:12
tgm4883the mysql instructions have 3, mythtv setup has 6, so i'm not sure where you get 418:12
qwebirc667213 steps18:12
tgm4883ok18:12
tgm4883are you in mythtv-setup now?18:13
qwebirc66721yes18:13
tgm4883ok, then go though each step and then once you exit it we can worry about MCC stuff18:14
qwebirc66721lot of steps...18:14
qwebirc66721anything in particular I should change?18:14
tgm4883qwebirc66721, http://mythbuntu.org/wiki/installation-guide18:15
qwebirc66721ok, so nothing?  lol18:17
qwebirc66721the faq talks about mcc, not mbm18:17
tgm4883!read | qwebirc6672118:17
Zinnqwebirc66721: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6j8EiWIVZs18:17
tgm4883qwebirc66721, http://mythbuntu.org/wiki/mythbackend-setup18:17
qwebirc66721iI loved that show!18:46
qwebirc66721so yeah mcc doesn't look anything like mythbuntu-backend-master18:47
qwebirc66721everything looks proper in mcc18:47
tgm4883qwebirc66721, mcc isn't suppose to look like the backend setup19:08
tgm4883so now that everything is setup for the backend, the mysql tab should work correctly19:09

superm1tgm4883, i think there was a bug with that in lucid that recently reported about mcc19:55
superm1fixed for maverick though19:55
Moritz24Hi, i am pretty new to the whole Mythbuntu stuff. I am reading through the wiki atm because im planning a combined Backend/Frontend. I am a little confused when it comes to playing/saving HD content21:39
Moritz24is it possible to save Movies in 1080p resolution to my Harddisk?21:39
Moritz24Because the Wiki states that "Nearly any device you may wish to record HDMI from will also be using HDCP to encrypt the stream, and as such cannot be used. "21:40
tgm4883Moritz24, yes21:55
tgm4883kinda21:56
tgm4883Moritz24, where are you recording 1080p movies from? a tuner?21:56
Moritz24well i was planning on using 2 dvb-s cards21:56
Moritz24not an external tuner21:56
Moritz24the wiki says that you can record HD content with an external firewire tuner. but is it possible with any internal cards aswell?21:57
tgm4883using dvb cards, it would write whatever the dvb card receives21:57
tgm4883as long as the content isn't encrypted21:58
Moritz24well, i have a digital LNB and i plan on using an internal DVB-S card. I only want to record free-TV. Is that what you are referring to when you say "encrypted"?22:01
tgm4883free-TV probably isn't encrypted22:01
tgm4883but I don't know about dvb-s since I don't use dvb-s here22:02
Moritz24okay so stream in the above named sentence means the stream between satellite and satelite dish, right? So to speak the broadcasted signal22:04
tgm4883well stream means what is coming into the dvb-s card22:07
Moritz24okay yes that is what i meant. Sorry i'm not a native speaker :P22:09
tgm4883so yea, if that stream is encrypted when it goes into the dvb-s card then it won't be recorded22:10
Moritz24okay thanks alot!22:17
Moritz24and is basically every DVB-S card able to record in 1080p?22:18
tgm4883Moritz24, IIRC, DVB-S is like any other digital card in that it just writes the already compressed stream to disk. So it doesn't matter what it is in as it is just writing the data22:23
