centaur5Is mythfrontend on other computers only meant to show recordings and not the movie library?01:33
tgm4883centaur5, you should see the movie library on all systems that you have mythvideo installed01:35
centaur5I wondered if I was missing a package.  Thanks!  I made the mistake of assuming mythfrontend would install all necessary components to access the backend.01:37
tgm4883nope, mythtv is very pluggable01:40

superm1hm i wonder if update-manager will pop up by default for 10.04 people03:41
superm1i dont think so, because LTS policy is generally LTS->LTS only03:41
superm1but they can run software-properties-gtk to do it i think03:41
zuixroHey, I'm on Mythbuntu 10.04. I just installed updates and my sound stopped working. The speakers are fine, PCM and Master are turned up in the mixer. Anyone know what the problem is?05:04
superm1zuixro, just to rule out a transient problem, have you tried to cold boot the box?05:38
zuixroYep. I've also restored the audio settings to the default using this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting05:48
Zinn[help.ubuntu.com] SoundTroubleshooting - Community Ubuntu Documentation05:48
zuixroVLC won't play an MP3...05:54
hot_wheelzhi guys06:31
hot_wheelzi am running mythbuntu 10.04 if I did a update-manager -d that would then install regular ubuntu right or would it only upgrade mythbuntu like it should?06:33
superm1hot_wheelz, it should just upgrade the mythbuntu stuff06:35
superm1you might need to change the LTS policy though (software-properties-gtk)06:35
superm1zuixro, if you've reset everything to default, i would say start exploring the possibility of HW problem...06:35
superm1check with a live disk to rule that out06:36
BernmeisterJust did a clean install of Mythbuntu 10.10.  I can "Watch TV" standard def channels, but HD channels cause the frontend to crash and I'm taken to a login screen.  Anyone else seen this?06:36
superm1Bernmeister, i've not seen it, but i think the best thing to do is enable apport (/etc/default/apport) so that the crash can be captured and reported06:37
superm1there was something i saw on a forum post similar to that today though06:37
Bernmeistersuperm1: Thanks...just enabled it.  What forum was this?06:39
superm1!forums06:39
ZinnThe Mythbuntu forums are located at http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=301.  If you aren't getting a timely response here, there are lots of very active individuals there that may be able to help.06:39
superm1over there06:39
superm1i gave the same answer to that person, to turn on apport and hopefully we'll catch it06:39
Bernmeistersuperm1: So when the frontend crashes, where/how does apport log it's information?  So far I'm just looking in /var/log/mythtv/mythtvfrontend.log.06:43
superm1Bernmeister, when apport is enabled, you start the service (or it starts on boot) and then it intercepts a crash and captures a core dump06:44
superm1it will capture to /var/crash06:44
superm1after it finishes processing it, you'll get a popup telling you to report it (or you can do it manually using the apport-bug command)06:44
zuixrosuperm1, I did another cold boot just to make sure that wouldn't fix it, and whadoyaknow, it fixed it.06:47
zuixrosuperm1, Thanks for your help06:47
superm1cool :)06:51

duffydackgot a DVB nova-T usb tuner, set it up in mythtv and scanned channels and it brings a list of around 80 or so, I tried to watch the first few, bbc1, bbc2 itv etc but I can only view the few bbc channels, they are the only ones listed in white, the rest are listed but sort of greyed out.. whats wrong?17:30
SteveGoodeyAre you able to get good reception of these channels outside of mythtv? Set top box, stand alone TV etc.17:33
duffydackSteveGoodey, yes, its the same aerial wire I use on normal tv.. I get approx 90-100 channels usually17:50
duffydackSteveGoodey, also I just scanned channels again and it  showed them all in white, but after viewing for a while its gone back to how it was17:50
duffydackonly bbc channels available.. rest are not viewable.  :(17:51
duffydackwhen scanning, I get lots of 'offset 2 - Timed out no signal and timed out no channels.  Its does find the 80-82 though17:55
SteveGoodeyWhen you say channels are white/greyed out can you tell me how you are viewing them in mythtv, are you selecting Watch TV from the main menu?17:57
duffydackI goto Watch TV, then it plays channel 2 by default, then I goto programme guide to see all channels/programmes and only the BBC channel names are in white, the rest are sort of green/blue, and I cannot view them..it just goes back to bbc218:01
duffydackafter a 2nd scan they were all white, and I could view them but after around 10-15mins viewing a few channels its back to how I just described.18:02
SteveGoodeySorry to appear dim but just to confirm, on your normal TV all channels are watchable, BBC and ITV, but viewing via the nova card only BBC are OK?18:02
duffydackyes18:03
duffydackRan another scan, and they are all viewable again.  Going to try my other lcd tv upstairs hooked to laptop..18:04
SteveGoodeyHow are you connecting the nova card to the aeriel, via a splitter? How is it unplugging the aeriel from the TV and taking it direct to the nova?18:05
duffydackits plugged in the same as it was into my set top box.18:08
duffydackexternal aerial18:09
duffydackas i say, its been fine with my tv/STB for years18:09
duffydackok so I had this laptop watchin itv1, all channels viewable.. I went to other laptop/lcd and the channel list is again unviewable.18:10
SteveGoodeyAm I right in thinking this tuner has an onboard amp, is that turned on? http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick18:12
Zinn[www.linuxtv.org] Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick - LinuxTVWiki18:12
duffydackjust checked it again on other laptop/lcd and its ok now :?   I did notice when I set a channel to record and viewed the guide again to switch channels the same happend again.. then when I stopped recording it was fine. I`ll just leave it be I guess18:27
duffydackonboard amp?  er, no I dont think so18:27
SteveGoodeyIf the amp is not enabled it could cause reception problems on the ITV muxes, they try to squeeze more channels than the BBC ones. Might be worth at least reading that web page I pointed to.18:32
duffydackits fine now.. for no reason18:36
duffydackis there a way to check if its enabled?18:37
SteveGoodeyForcing the activation of LNAs (Low Noise Amplifier)18:38
SteveGoodeyYou may have to force LNA to get this card working:18:38
SteveGoodeyIn /etc/modprobe.d/options add:18:38
SteveGoodeyoptions dvb_usb_dib0700 force_lna_activation=118:38
duffydackyeah, but how can I check if its already enabled?18:38
duffydackor is it not, by def18:39
duffydackall channels listed in prog guide are labelled in white, so they are alll watchable..  I dont know why it did what it did before.18:39
SteveGoodeyTry enabling it and see if reception improves, not easy I'm afraid. Could the reception have improved now it's dark. Sounds like magic doesn't it?!18:40
duffydackI dont have a problem with reception with this aerial18:41
duffydacknever have..18:41
SteveGoodeyOnly with this usb tuner. Got a friend nearer the transmitter?18:42
SteveGoodeyTry it there.18:42
duffydackwell, I have been playin around and its not done it again since.18:44
duffydackany way to improve pic quality?  im on a laptop with 1080hd and tv aint lookin too great..18:46
duffydackwell its 'ok' just a little compression artifact thing.  guess there is nothing I can do.18:49
duffydackwell, thanks for the help guys.18:50
Seeker`tgm4883: any idea where I can get a copy of tmdb.py from? there doesn't appear to be one on my system19:44
tgm4883Seeker`, you are using 0.24?19:44
Seeker`yes19:45
Seeker`I can't find any metadata grabbers on the system at all19:45
tgm4883you will have to pull them from trac/svn then19:45
Seeker`tgm4883: able to give me a hint as to where in the tree?19:46
tgm4883i'll have to look it up. There is a bug for it on launchpad with the right location I think19:46
Seeker`found it19:47
Seeker`trunk/mythtv/programs/scripts/metadata/Movie19:48
tgm4883that sounds right19:49
Seeker`tgm4883: got it on to the pc, now but mythtv claims no results found, yet wehn I run the same command from the command line, I get a load of XML back19:53
tgm4883Seeker`, permissions?19:54
rhpot1991smells like a location issue19:54
rhpot1991or permissions19:54
Seeker`hmm, no, mythtv is appending "0 0 " to the end of the command19:55
Seeker`so I guess I need to work out where the grabber string is stored and change it19:56
rhpot1991Seeker`: I'd venture its in mythtv's settings19:57
rhpot1991somewhere under media prob19:58
Seeker`hmm, can't find any "0 0" in the Movie*CommandLine or MovieGrabber DB keys19:58
Seeker`and can't find metadata grabber settings at all :/20:04
jovoxHow can I delete a input connections?20:19

rhpot1991jovox: the mythbuntu and ubuntu packages are the same20:24
jovoxno, nothing happends on i or m20:27
rhpot1991jovox: I'm assuming you are on mythtv-setup and not trying to do this from the frontend somewhere right?20:27
jovoxyes20:27
tgm4883hit the delete key?20:29
jovoxno, I tried that as well20:29
jovoxI don't see "Delete all input connection" either (I think it was there  in my previous installation)20:34
tgm4883jovox, what version are you running?20:35
jovoxmythbackend version: branches/release-0-23-fixes20:39

tgm4883xcrracer_, yes23:06
tgm4883note you cannot go back to 0.23.x without a database backup23:07
xcrracer_it must do a database upgrade?23:07
mrandxcrracer_: yes23:18
mrand0.24 uses new tables and you can't undo that, so the only way to revert to 0.23 is to restore a 0.23 database.23:19
