[14:09] yo, when's ubu-studio 10.10 due? [14:12] I've also been waiting its release since last night but never heard... [14:13] was it supposed to be released last night? [14:15] we can download the dvd iso image from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntustudio/releases/10.10/release/ [14:16] but there is no notification at official website or mailinglist or IRC channel... [14:17] and i cannot find release note... [14:20] probably wise to wait a bit [14:53] i tried upgrading 10.04->10.10 using update-manager -d... but it says it wants to remove my jackd and not install it again [14:54] and some other audioapps [14:54] so.. is there a way i can do this without messing that up? [14:58] i think it due to the different version of jackd. in marveric the default version of jackd is 2, not 1. jackd1 is the default till lucid. [14:59] so the manager said jackd1 related packages should be removed. [14:59] so you can follow the notification of manager and after upgrading reinstall the needed packages. [15:05] hmms ok [15:05] i will try [15:06] But there are the lack of packages you need in marveric repository, i think. [15:08] oh? [15:11] now i write with marveric machine so i can search the packages which you mainly work on. [15:11] I hope not so much :-D [15:12] oh earthquake! i'm from japan :P [15:19] Maverick, Mocchi, not marveric. :D [15:20] oh, i often mistype this as marveric. marverick is correct. [15:21] Heheh, still not correct. No 'r' between 'a' and 'v'. Maverick. [15:22] mummm, maveric is really correct! [15:23] http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/maverick [15:23] oh wait [15:24] i know its meaning but misunderstood its spelling... thx [15:25] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MaverickMeerkat/ReleaseNotes [15:25] Sorry, there. :) [15:26] Yeah, apologies for being pedantic. Can't help it. :D [15:28] anyway thanks, astraljava! today i make some document in ubuntu japanese community and i think all of them includes this misspelling. terrible!!! [15:28] Heheh. :) No worries, people still know what it means. Not that big a deal. :) [21:04] Ok, I have an ISO of Ubuntu Studio. I am trying to write it to USB, but when it gets to the end, the program refuses to finish. [21:05] Does anyone know why this would happen? [21:15] bonjour, je viens d'installer ubuntustudio 10.04 32bit sur un dell mais impossible de voir l'aplet de la connection wifi ;) même après avoir installer network-manager. [21:15] c'est la première fois que j'essaye ubuntu studio d'habitude j'utilise ubuntu. je me sens un peu perdu ;( [21:16] AegNuddel: hey [21:16] i would probably just use the vanilla live iso [21:16] and convert it to ubuntustudio afterward [21:16] !vanilla [21:16] To install Ubuntu Studio on top of a vanilla Ubuntu install, read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/Installation [21:16] im not sure why you would be having that issue [21:17] unless its something to do with where grub wants to be written [21:17] and the alternate installer [21:18] yan_circus: you might have to go to #ubuntu-fr [21:18] and explain the network manager that ubuntustudio is using [21:18] OR install the gnome network manager [21:19] * holstein gotta run [21:19] bbl... [21:20] I installed network-manager but I still have nothing on the taskbar [21:20] no wifi icon [21:40] bon je pense que le probleme vient du driver wifi je vais creuser dans ce sens [22:45] I installed ubuntu studio 10.04 and updated it and then the computer would not boot; stuck at initramfs; please advise [22:46] ubuntnewb: what error message are you getting? [22:47] if you have an nvidia graphics card, i have a theory ;) [22:48] ok, I am sorry; i reinstalled with ubuntu 10.04 desktop and I am not havng any problem; but I think the message asked me about which device held the root? I am new to this and I should have taken better note of the error [22:49] my graphic card is integrated to the motherboard; I believe it is ATI because the mobo is a gigabyte [22:49] nah [22:49] in that case [22:49] i think grub was the issue [22:49] check out [22:49] !grub2 [22:49] GRUB2 is the default Ubuntu boot manager since Ubuntu 9.10. For more information and troubleshooting for GRUB2 please refer to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2 [22:49] thank you [22:49] should be some entries about recovering grub [22:49] for next time :) [22:49] OH [22:50] and check out [22:50] !vanilla [22:50] To install Ubuntu Studio on top of a vanilla Ubuntu install, read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio/Installation [22:50] for converting that normal ubuntu install into ubuntustudio [22:50] OR just adding some of the software [22:51] is there an open source (free) imaging software (i.e. ghost) that I can use to image my linux installation? [22:51] AH [22:51] let me think [22:51] i used to use clonezilla [22:51] but there are others that are more ghost like [22:52] http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/?p=2649 [22:52] i think ^^ is what i was thinking of [22:52] thank you, all for now
