alouriegood morning07:43
alourieara: good morning08:10
aramorning alourie08:10
alourieara: I have a question if you don't mind08:10
araalourie, go ahead08:11
alourieara: I've been thinking about the new website, and beyond the bug I already opened on the landing page, I think it needs a bit of reorganizing. How can it be done? I mean, how do I tell the ideas I have?08:12
alourieopening a bunch of bugs doesn't seem to fit here08:13
araalourie, have you seen that I fixed the landing page to show a motto?08:13
alourieoh?08:13
araI fixed that yesterday08:13
alouriewow, I haven't even noticed :-)08:14
alouriehold on, I'll refresh the page08:14
araalourie, and about the changes, what I am thinking of doing, is to put the content of the wp site as a LP branch, and you can do your changes and propose merges08:17
arathe wp-theme is already there as a branch, so if you want to make changes to the wp-theme you can branch that and propose your changes08:17
arasuggestions are great, but it is better if you actually implement them08:18
alourieara: if you put it as a branch, I will work on it :-)08:18
araalourie, the wp-theme is already as branch08:19
araalourie, and the content, I will try to put it today08:19
alourieara: that would be great. Btw, will it include the layout as well?08:19
araalourie, the layout is the theme, and that's already in LP08:20
aralp:~ubuntu-qa-website-devel/ubuntu-qa-website/wp-theme08:20
alourieara: ah, that's great08:22
aragood morning jibel08:27
jibelGood morning ara!08:27
alourieara: I'd have to install wordpress to test changes, right?08:33
araalourie, indeed08:33
alourieara: cool, thanks08:34
arajibel, can you check my comment at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-qa-website/+bug/651250/comments/208:41
ubot4Launchpad bug 651250 in ubuntu-qa-website "qa.u.c home page is missing title, description and favicon (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Medium,In progress]08:41
araplease08:41
sulumarGood morning08:48
aramorning sulumar08:48
jibelara, I agree with the keyword meta tag, it's pretty useless for google.08:48
jibelHi sulumar08:48
jibelbut the description is used by the search result snippets08:48
arajibel, OK, I will add the description, then08:49
jibelara, great! many thanks.08:50
arajibel, now I have changed the landing page a bit and placed a "fixed post" stating what Ubuntu QA is08:50
jibelthat's better. it makes the site look less like a planet.08:52
jibelyou dropped the menu on the right panel ?08:53
arajibel, yes I did, I felt it was a bit redundant08:53
arawe have the menu on the top, anyway08:53
arajibel, do you want it back?08:53
* jibel is navigating to see if it makes sense to add it back08:54
jibelwhat's annoying is that it never changes while it should change with the context.08:59
arajibel, what do you mean?08:59
jibelthe sub-menu always displays the archive of the posts. When I'm on another section than the home page it's a bit confusing.09:01
jibelbut I agree that the previous menu was redundant with the main navigation.09:01
arajibel, what would you like to see? a submenu like the one we have at uds.ubuntu.com?09:02
araI agree that would be nice to have09:02
arawanna implement it?  ;-)09:02
jibelI don't see any submenu at all on uds.u.c, is it my lack of coffee this morning ? :-)09:04
arajibel, it is my lack of coffee! I have seen it somewhere, maybe it wasn't uds.u.c :)09:05
jibelmaybe, the right menu should be displayed only on the home page, and use the whole page for the content in other sections.09:05
arawow, the colour at uds.u.c. is way too orange09:05
jibelyeah, not enough aubergine, indeed09:05
arajibel, the page with the submenu is www.ubuntu.com09:08
jibelara, that's it. But there's a lot of content on www.u.c, so it makes sense use a submenu. I don't think you can apply the same to qa.u.c because the site map is flat. There is only 1 level.09:13
jibelara, my feeling is that we don't need that sub navigation excepted on the aggregation page.09:13
jibeland you could use the full width for the content like on other *.u.c web sites.09:14
jibelexcepted on the home page of course.09:14
arayes, that makes sense09:15
alouriejibel, ara: I think that the current sidebar should appear only with planet09:18
alourieand09:19
alourieara: should I open bug to remove comments form from the pages?09:20
araalourie, you can open a bug, but that's also changeable in the theme, so you can implement the changes09:21
alourieara: ah, great09:21
sulumarjibel, could you give me the links to start SRU pls09:23
sulumartrashed a vm by accident and lost the history09:24
jibelsulumar, here it is : http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/pending-sru.html09:24
jibelsulumar, don't hesitate to ask if you need help.09:24
sulumarthx09:25
jibelsulumar, there is one in lucid that I'm failing to reproduce - bug 53336909:25
ubot4Launchpad bug 533369 in debootstrap (Ubuntu Karmic) (and 2 other projects) "Fails to debootstrap squeeze chroot due to missing apt-get (affects: 1) (heat: 34)" [Undecided,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/53336909:25
jibelmaybe you'll be luckier than me09:26
araalourie, you can open a bug and link the branch your working on with it, then request a merge09:27
sulumarill try09:29
jibelsulumar, the 2 kde bug 656195 and bug 656196 are easy target too.09:29
ubot4Launchpad bug 656196 in kdebase-runtime (Ubuntu Natty) (and 2 other projects) "add new Indian Rupee Unicode symbol (affects: 2) (heat: 20)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65619609:29
jibelThe second is trivial while the first needs to recompile kdevelop.09:30
sulumarill try to understand and reproduce debootstrap on 10.10 and 10.04 if needed09:33
alourieara: can you give me the lp link again for the theme branch?09:33
alourieI reconnected and lost history09:33
ara lp:~ubuntu-qa-website-devel/ubuntu-qa-website/wp-theme09:36
jibelsulumar, the problem with deboostrap only exists in lucid when you try to create a debian squeeze chroot with a buildd variant. If you don't know debootstrap too much, you can start with easier tests.09:36
sulumarin fact i dont know debootsrtap at all but that allows me to learn it09:39
alourieara: thansk09:49
jibelsulumar, you'll find documentation about debootstrap here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebootstrapChroot and here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebootstrapChroot09:49
sulumarthx09:50
sulumarok ill try something else to start10:15
sulumarbootstrap is a bit too complicated to learn in paralel with windows10:16
sulumarthink im not good enough to do sru AND a course10:21
jibel:-)10:33
jibelsulumar, I proposed bug 65786510:35
ubot4Launchpad bug 657865 in josm-plugins (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 1 other project) "josm-plugins cannot be installed with maverick version (affects: 1) (heat: 10)" [High,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65786510:35
jibelsulumar, the current version in maverick is not installable because of conflicting files between josm and josm-plugins10:36
jibelsulumar, the version in -proposed fixes that by removing the conflicting files from josm-plugins.10:36
sulumarill check that10:37
jibelsulumar, so with -proposed enabled josm-plugins and josm should be installable together.10:37
sulumarJosm even pulls josm-plugins10:44
sulumarwith -proposed enable it is fixed$10:47
jibelthat's because josm-plugins is a recommend of josm and recommends are installed by default10:48
sulumarso with the bug in launchpad i do what now ??10:49
jibelsulumar, add a comment with the result of the test and set change the tag verification-needed to verification-done10:51
jibelsulumar, the bug number on the pending sru list will become green when the page is refreshed (every hour)10:51
jibelsulumar, then the sru manager will publish this version to maverick-updates and every user of maverick will benefit of that fix \o/10:52
jibelsulumar, I've verified it too, that was not a conflicting file but a version bump in the conflict rule.10:53
sulumaras long as its fixed10:54
jibelsulumar, do you have an ipod ?10:55
sulumarTagchanged, VM Trashed10:55
sulumarnope10:55
sulumarsorry for the ipod, im not that apple10:56
jibelno problem. There is a bug that requires an ipod.10:56
* jibel picking another report.10:58
jibelsulumar, do you use empathy ?11:03
sulumari do11:04
jibelthere is bug 654981 then. You just need to use it as you usually do and ensure that is still work as expected.11:07
ubot4Launchpad bug 654981 in empathy (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 1 other project) "SRU empathy to 2.32.0.1 in maverick (affects: 2) (heat: 16)" [Low,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65498111:07
jibelbug 615045 in lucid is well documented, and is a good candidate.11:07
ubot4Launchpad bug 615045 in man-db (Debian) (and 2 other projects) "Running catman makes man display junk data (affects: 1) (heat: 64)" [Unknown,Unknown] https://launchpad.net/bugs/61504511:07
sulumarusing the proposed empathy11:36
sulumarseems to work11:36
jibelsulumar, you need to use it for some time. Do you see the same behavior than Martin in comment 2 ?11:39
sulumarnot at all11:42
sulumarthe window is the same as before11:43
sulumarcan move and resize it any way i want11:43
sulumarand i tested empathy with an ALICE bot to force conversation11:52
sulumarit seems to work11:52
