commodoorduffydack, it's a bug in maverick13:09
commodoorduffydack, it happens when starting the pc13:09
duffydackbeen using it for a week, not noticed it before13:10
commodoorbug 65123713:10
ubot4Launchpad bug 651237 in ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 4 other projects) "ubuntuone-launch fails to start syncdaemon if dbus call times out (affects: 3) (heat: 18)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65123713:10
commodoorduffydack, i have it sinds i upgraded to maverick13:10
commodoorduffydack, i also have to keep connecting manually13:10
duffydackmine connects after boot, and has only just started disconnecting like, today.. it connects now and then13:17
commodoorduffydack, maybe it's not the same bug. i don't see rye here he knows more13:36
commodoorduffydack, you should ask him13:36
duffydackmy client does say disconnected, its tried to connect and failed.   watching the indicator it says negotiating connection, then authenticating, and stays like the for 15-20 seconds, then gives up.13:38

enblocdoes ubuntu one understand symlinks? If I create a symlink in my public folder, will it descend into that? can I share a whole directory like that?13:53
enblocand do they need to be ubuntu one customers?13:53
commodoorduffydack, waht does it say when ou try > u1sdtools --connect13:54
duffydacknothing13:54
commodoorenbloc, if you want to share a folder you can press right click and share with ubuntuone. it works for everyone13:54
enblocand how do I give people links to that?13:55
enblocbecause I have no option for it that I can see13:55
commodoorduffydack, i think there is something wrong with your client13:55
duffydackwhy today13:56
commodoorenbloc, first you have to share the folder with U1 then the option share will be enabled13:56
commodoorduffydack, does it sometimes connect or not at all13:56
duffydackbeen fine since I installed maverick last week, till today13:57
duffydacklooking at the indicator, its trying to connect at intervals, and fails13:57
duffydackheh, clever.  No command 'u1sdtools' found, did you mean: Command 'u1sdtool' from package 'ubuntuone-client' (main)13:58
commodoorduffydack, damn my mistake lol13:58
duffydackthats what ubuntu told me13:58
duffydackuts becoming self aware :)13:59

duffydackyup14:08
commodoorduffydack, i think you have the same bug as me14:08
duffydackmy config is the same it was a week ago..14:09
duffydackjust today its playing silly beggars14:09
commodoorduffydack, i also seeing this since maverick14:09
duffydackfirst Ive seen it14:09
enblocokay - so I'm synchronizing a folder (outside of Ubuntu One/Public), and I right click 'Share on Ubuntu One' .  It asks me 'Share With' and it won't take blank or nobody for an answer14:10
commodooryou put the mail there14:10
enblocok I don't think this will work for me14:11

commodoorthen you have to use public link.14:14
commodoorenbloc, i'm using dropbox to share public files and U1 for personal things14:15
commodoorenbloc, but with both you can't share a folder14:16
commodoorenbloc, or you have to make it a .zip14:16

karnioh.. question to me, and I didn't make it to respond :<17:40
russjr08Guys, I am having a problem with Ubuntu One, the computer has been linked to the account but it says disconnected. When I click connect it says "Synchronization in progress..." then after a few seconds goes back to disconnected17:50
russjr08ok, it seems to have fixed it self17:51
kklimondahonk ? :)19:15
kklimondamy syncdaemon is stuck at uploading files19:15
jamdatadudehonk19:42
ryejamdatadude, hi19:42
jamdatadudehello19:42
jamdatadudeI keep getting ssl handshake failures19:44
ryejamdatadude, yes, me too, pinging admins19:44
jamdatadudeahh sweet19:44
jamdatadudeI decided today to convert from dropbox19:44
ryejamdatadude, this is really strange as I was getting perfectly stable connection just 2 hours ago19:45
jamdatadudewas freaked out it wasn't syncing19:45
jamdatadudeyeah same here rye19:45
jamdatadudeI moved a few files19:45
jamdatadudeearlier, but when I got back from lunch tried to move the full box over19:45
jamdatadudeooh I'm moving again :)19:47
ryeanybody got auth succeeded? SSL setup is now ok20:07
duffydackmine keeps trying to auth today.. been fine since install of maverick last week..then today, bam20:09
ryeok, got past auth now, monitoring...20:11
duffydackwhat does 'waiting for everything to settle' mean20:12
ryeduffydack, it is now "Waiting before reconnect..." in trunk, i know, it is an awful description.20:12
duffydackI get that, then checking client version, then negotiation, then auth and after 15-20 secs just gives up.20:12
ryeduffydack, basically syncdaemon waits for existing connection to be reset20:12
ryeduffydack, wow, i got to Synchronizing!20:13
duffydackafter a while it 'just worked' for a while and then went back to being sucky no worky20:13
duffydackis this down to some new auth system being implemented then ?20:13
tstreitHi I just upgraded my Ubuntu One account and I am not able to sync my files to the service.  Looking at the client it connects and stays connected for about 30 seconds and disconnects, then reconnects.  It synced all the folders that I checked to sync but the files are not transferring.20:20
tstreithonk20:22
ryetstreit, we are aware of this issue and are investigating this at the moment20:22
tstreitOkay so it's not just my computer?20:23
ryetstreit, no, it is a service performance drop and we are checking what can be done now. Earlier the connection was being dropped and client tried to disconnect/reconnect constantly due to SSL handshake timeouts. This is now fixed. Currently the processing times are higher than usual and this is what is being investigating now20:24
tstreitOkay thanks, I was going mad trying to figure out what was wrong on my end.20:25
duffydackaha, sync complete.. its connected finally20:43
duffydackugh, no its not.. still synchronising..a long time for 30k :)20:48
duffydackoops, and there it goes again.  off21:47
duffydackthis ubuntuone-indicator is very useful indeed :)21:48
duffydackwoudnt know this was happening otherwise, unless I loaded the client, and why would I do that...21:48
jamdatadude where did you get that21:49
jamdatadudeperhaps would be useful to me as well21:50
duffydackit should be included by default with ubuntu.. :)21:53
duffydacksudo add-apt-repository ppa:rye/ubuntuone-extras21:54
duffydacksudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-indicator21:54
duffydackyou`ll find it in 'Other'21:54
tstreitThanks for that duffydack22:04
duffydackthank rye22:04
tstreitWell thank you both. ;-)22:05
ryeok, anybody seing weirdness in file sync speed now?22:14
duffydackonly seeing sync22:14
duffydackfor 2 hours with a 33k file22:14
tstreitStill not syncing, but staying connected much longer.  Should I click restart?22:19
tstreitCan't connect again.22:35
tstreitOkay I am able to reconnect after restarting my computer.  Now just waiting for it to cache all the files.22:46
duffydacksync complete.  impressive.. 3 hours for 33k22:46
duffydack:)22:46
duffydacklets see how long it stays connected22:47
tstreitGood for you. :-)  I am trying to sync my music folder which I know it will take a long time but I have been waiting four hours for it to just start syncing.22:47
tstreitokay looks like something is happening, I will let you all know22:51
ryeduffydack, could you please re-test your sync performance?23:21
duffydackk23:21
duffydackedited my little txt file, added a carriage return, saved.  bang on.23:22
ryeduffydack, so it means that it worked for you well, right?23:23
duffydackyup :)23:26
duffydackI wouldnt even know without your indicator.23:26
duffydackseriously, get this thing in ubuntu/main23:27
eweissgeI'm having trouble syncing my contacts with ubuntu one in Evolution23:27
eweissgethe wiki says it's working again, and I still can't sync23:28
eweissgeCan anyone help me?23:29
ryeeweissge, what Ubuntu version are you running?23:30
eweissge10.1023:30
eweissge64bit23:30
ryeduffydack, well, being out of the distro it should be able to adopt to the needs of the people using it faster. I still hope somebody comes up with some kind of network activity indicator which will be able to house such services as Ubuntu One, firefox downloads, heh, even wget things and only show "Uploading / Downloading" things and doing nothing.23:32
ryeeweissge, are you able to access the contacts using evolution?23:32
eweissgemy local contacts yes23:33
eweissgecouchdb no23:33
duffydackwell, its just plain SILLY that we dont know something is wrong unless we use the u1 client.. and why would we wanna run that ??23:33
duffydackpeople only run that to change settings or add their pc.. run of the mill stuff, never.23:34
ryeduffydack, yes, exactly. If we (as a community) come up with something that is so awesome the team accepts to be a proper solution for the problem then i am sure we will have this in upcoming versions.23:35
duffydackif they can include gwibber, they`ll include this....23:36
ryeduffydack, for example until I started implementing the estimation readings we were not aware that syncdaemon did not actually provide any useful info regarding the queue size in bytes.23:36
eweissgeWhat should I do?23:42
ryeeweissge, is evolution-couchdb package installed?23:42
eweissgeyes23:42
eweissgever 0.5.0-0ubuntu123:44
eweissgeI've tried several different fixes with no success23:45
ryeeweissge, ok, could you please look at ~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/desktop-couch-replication.log to see whether there are any fatal errors?23:45
eweissgeI find lots of errors, but the string fatal doesn't show up, the log is huge23:47
ryeeweissge, ok, lets clean it up, please run /usr/lib/desktopcouch/desktopcouch-stop23:49
ryeeweissge, then killall desktopcouch-service23:49
ryeeweissge, run rm ~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/*.log to clean-up all the logs23:50
eweissgek done23:51
ryeeweissge, after that... run http://people.canonical.com/~roman.yepishev/ubuntuone-scripts/desktopcouch-futon.py script - it will start desktopcouch which will start couchdb and then log you into futon management interface23:51
ryeeweissge, replication process will also be started then and you will be able to look at  ~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/desktop-couch-replication.log with less noise23:52
eweissge./desktopcouch-futon.py23:54
eweissgeTraceback (most recent call last):23:54
eweissge  File "./desktopcouch-futon.py", line 10, in <module>23:54
eweissge    { "desktopcouch": "basic" })23:54
eweissgegnomekeyring.NoMatchError23:54
ryeeweissge, hm, have you ran ubuntuone-preferences? Were all the fields there filled with data (i.e. not Unknown) ?23:55
eweissgeyes23:55
ryeeweissge, ok, let me try this23:56
duffydackrye, I agree, shuttlecock loves his indicator system and this is the perfect built in applet, alongside the silly indicator-me and sound menu.  To NOT have this load after you setup your U1 account, is as ridiculous as not having a sound indicator for your sound.23:57
duffydackI know they disliked the bubble notification because it was 'too noisey' or whatever, but this is the perfect inbetween23:59
