[12:52] using the indicator, it keeps going grey (not connected) and says when I click on it, "waiting for everything to settle" whats that? [13:08] duffydack, are you on maverick? [13:09] yup [13:09] duffydack, it's a bug in maverick [13:09] duffydack, it happens when starting the pc [13:10] been using it for a week, not noticed it before [13:10] bug 651237 [13:10] Launchpad bug 651237 in ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 4 other projects) "ubuntuone-launch fails to start syncdaemon if dbus call times out (affects: 3) (heat: 18)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/651237 [13:10] duffydack, i have it sinds i upgraded to maverick [13:10] duffydack, i also have to keep connecting manually [13:17] mine connects after boot, and has only just started disconnecting like, today.. it connects now and then [13:36] duffydack, maybe it's not the same bug. i don't see rye here he knows more [13:36] duffydack, you should ask him [13:38] my client does say disconnected, its tried to connect and failed. watching the indicator it says negotiating connection, then authenticating, and stays like the for 15-20 seconds, then gives up. [13:39] duffydack, can you put your log ~/.cache/ubuntuone/logs/syncdaemon.log in http://paste.ubuntu.com/ [13:42] http://pastebin.com/LbfVGdu6 [13:44] duffydack, looking [13:47] duffydack, have a minute? [13:47] sure [13:50] duffydack, can you do > u1sdtool --status [13:50] duffydack, in terminal [13:51] http://pastebin.com/9sfj96kA [13:53] does ubuntu one understand symlinks? If I create a symlink in my public folder, will it descend into that? can I share a whole directory like that? [13:53] and do they need to be ubuntu one customers? [13:54] duffydack, waht does it say when ou try > u1sdtools --connect [13:54] nothing [13:54] enbloc, if you want to share a folder you can press right click and share with ubuntuone. it works for everyone [13:55] and how do I give people links to that? [13:55] because I have no option for it that I can see [13:55] duffydack, i think there is something wrong with your client [13:56] why today [13:56] enbloc, first you have to share the folder with U1 then the option share will be enabled [13:56] duffydack, does it sometimes connect or not at all [13:57] been fine since I installed maverick last week, till today [13:57] looking at the indicator, its trying to connect at intervals, and fails [13:58] heh, clever. No command 'u1sdtools' found, did you mean: Command 'u1sdtool' from package 'ubuntuone-client' (main) [13:58] duffydack, damn my mistake lol [13:58] thats what ubuntu told me [13:59] uts becoming self aware :) [13:59] its* [13:59] i'm helping 3 people at one time so i;m tyoing fast :P [14:00] I`ll reboot , internet also..see what happens [14:04] Nope :( [14:05] duffydack, when you open u1 preferences do you see your device? [14:05] yes [14:06] duffydack, is the button connect disabled? [14:06] nothing has changedno [14:07] oops [14:07] No. [14:07] clicking connect does nothing [14:07] its working now... [14:07] we can also re-authorize your computer [14:07] took a long time and a few authenticating/negotiating [14:08] duffydack, i you are getting a time out [14:08] sync complete. [14:08] duffydack, is it now connected? [14:08] yup [14:08] duffydack, i think you have the same bug as me [14:09] my config is the same it was a week ago.. [14:09] just today its playing silly beggars [14:09] duffydack, i also seeing this since maverick [14:09] first Ive seen it [14:10] okay - so I'm synchronizing a folder (outside of Ubuntu One/Public), and I right click 'Share on Ubuntu One' . It asks me 'Share With' and it won't take blank or nobody for an answer [14:10] you put the mail there [14:11] ok I don't think this will work for me [14:11] enbloc, why? i have donw this to and it worked [14:11] I want to be able to share half a dozen files in a directory with several strangers on IRC [14:12] enbloc, oow you mean share public link [14:12] yes [14:13] enbloc, i don't know if you can share a folder with public link, but files you can sync with symlink [14:13] I don't even know if they have ubuntu one [14:14] then you have to use public link. [14:15] enbloc, i'm using dropbox to share public files and U1 for personal things [14:16] enbloc, but with both you can't share a folder [14:16] enbloc, or you have to make it a .zip [14:23] ugh. trying to debug a geda schematic->netlist with sub components [14:24] zip it is [14:24] tbhanks === Pilif12p|afk is now known as Pilif12p [16:55] are there any U1 android users? === Pilif12p is now known as Pilif12p|afk === Pilif12p|afk is now known as Pilif12p [17:40] oh.. question to me, and I didn't make it to respond :< [17:50] Guys, I am having a problem with Ubuntu One, the computer has been linked to the account but it says disconnected. When I click connect it says "Synchronization in progress..." then after a few seconds goes back to disconnected [17:51] ok, it seems to have fixed it self [19:15] honk ? :) [19:15] my syncdaemon is stuck at uploading files [19:42] honk [19:42] jamdatadude, hi [19:42] hello [19:44] I keep getting ssl handshake failures [19:44] jamdatadude, yes, me too, pinging admins [19:44] ahh sweet [19:44] I decided today to convert from dropbox [19:45] jamdatadude, this is really strange as I was getting perfectly stable connection just 2 hours ago [19:45] was freaked out it wasn't syncing [19:45] yeah same here rye [19:45] I moved a few files [19:45] earlier, but when I got back from lunch tried to move the full box over [19:47] ooh I'm moving again :) [20:07] anybody got auth succeeded? SSL setup is now ok [20:09] mine keeps trying to auth today.. been fine since install of maverick last week..then today, bam [20:11] ok, got past auth now, monitoring... [20:12] what does 'waiting for everything to settle' mean [20:12] duffydack, it is now "Waiting before reconnect..." in trunk, i know, it is an awful description. [20:12] I get that, then checking client version, then negotiation, then auth and after 15-20 secs just gives up. [20:12] duffydack, basically syncdaemon waits for existing connection to be reset [20:13] duffydack, wow, i got to Synchronizing! [20:13] after a while it 'just worked' for a while and then went back to being sucky no worky [20:13] is this down to some new auth system being implemented then ? [20:20] Hi I just upgraded my Ubuntu One account and I am not able to sync my files to the service. Looking at the client it connects and stays connected for about 30 seconds and disconnects, then reconnects. It synced all the folders that I checked to sync but the files are not transferring. [20:22] honk [20:22] tstreit, we are aware of this issue and are investigating this at the moment [20:23] Okay so it's not just my computer? [20:24] tstreit, no, it is a service performance drop and we are checking what can be done now. Earlier the connection was being dropped and client tried to disconnect/reconnect constantly due to SSL handshake timeouts. This is now fixed. Currently the processing times are higher than usual and this is what is being investigating now [20:25] Okay thanks, I was going mad trying to figure out what was wrong on my end. [20:43] aha, sync complete.. its connected finally [20:48] ugh, no its not.. still synchronising..a long time for 30k :) [21:47] oops, and there it goes again. off [21:48] this ubuntuone-indicator is very useful indeed :) [21:48] woudnt know this was happening otherwise, unless I loaded the client, and why would I do that... [21:49] where did you get that [21:50] perhaps would be useful to me as well [21:53] it should be included by default with ubuntu.. :) [21:54] sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rye/ubuntuone-extras [21:54] sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntuone-indicator [21:54] you`ll find it in 'Other' [22:04] Thanks for that duffydack [22:04] thank rye [22:05] Well thank you both. ;-) [22:14] ok, anybody seing weirdness in file sync speed now? [22:14] only seeing sync [22:14] for 2 hours with a 33k file [22:19] Still not syncing, but staying connected much longer. Should I click restart? [22:35] Can't connect again. [22:46] Okay I am able to reconnect after restarting my computer. Now just waiting for it to cache all the files. [22:46] sync complete. impressive.. 3 hours for 33k [22:46] :) [22:47] lets see how long it stays connected [22:47] Good for you. :-) I am trying to sync my music folder which I know it will take a long time but I have been waiting four hours for it to just start syncing. [22:51] okay looks like something is happening, I will let you all know [23:21] duffydack, could you please re-test your sync performance? [23:21] k [23:22] edited my little txt file, added a carriage return, saved. bang on. [23:23] duffydack, so it means that it worked for you well, right? [23:26] yup :) [23:26] I wouldnt even know without your indicator. [23:27] seriously, get this thing in ubuntu/main [23:27] I'm having trouble syncing my contacts with ubuntu one in Evolution [23:28] the wiki says it's working again, and I still can't sync [23:29] Can anyone help me? [23:30] eweissge, what Ubuntu version are you running? [23:30] 10.10 [23:30] 64bit [23:32] duffydack, well, being out of the distro it should be able to adopt to the needs of the people using it faster. I still hope somebody comes up with some kind of network activity indicator which will be able to house such services as Ubuntu One, firefox downloads, heh, even wget things and only show "Uploading / Downloading" things and doing nothing. [23:32] eweissge, are you able to access the contacts using evolution? [23:33] my local contacts yes [23:33] couchdb no [23:33] well, its just plain SILLY that we dont know something is wrong unless we use the u1 client.. and why would we wanna run that ?? [23:34] people only run that to change settings or add their pc.. run of the mill stuff, never. [23:35] duffydack, yes, exactly. If we (as a community) come up with something that is so awesome the team accepts to be a proper solution for the problem then i am sure we will have this in upcoming versions. [23:36] if they can include gwibber, they`ll include this.... [23:36] duffydack, for example until I started implementing the estimation readings we were not aware that syncdaemon did not actually provide any useful info regarding the queue size in bytes. [23:42] What should I do? [23:42] eweissge, is evolution-couchdb package installed? [23:42] yes [23:44] ver 0.5.0-0ubuntu1 [23:45] I've tried several different fixes with no success [23:45] eweissge, ok, could you please look at ~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/desktop-couch-replication.log to see whether there are any fatal errors? [23:47] I find lots of errors, but the string fatal doesn't show up, the log is huge [23:49] eweissge, ok, lets clean it up, please run /usr/lib/desktopcouch/desktopcouch-stop [23:49] eweissge, then killall desktopcouch-service [23:50] eweissge, run rm ~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/*.log to clean-up all the logs [23:51] k done [23:51] eweissge, after that... run http://people.canonical.com/~roman.yepishev/ubuntuone-scripts/desktopcouch-futon.py script - it will start desktopcouch which will start couchdb and then log you into futon management interface [23:52] eweissge, replication process will also be started then and you will be able to look at ~/.cache/desktop-couch/log/desktop-couch-replication.log with less noise [23:54] ./desktopcouch-futon.py [23:54] Traceback (most recent call last): [23:54] File "./desktopcouch-futon.py", line 10, in [23:54] { "desktopcouch": "basic" }) [23:54] gnomekeyring.NoMatchError [23:55] eweissge, hm, have you ran ubuntuone-preferences? Were all the fields there filled with data (i.e. not Unknown) ? [23:55] yes [23:56] eweissge, ok, let me try this [23:57] rye, I agree, shuttlecock loves his indicator system and this is the perfect built in applet, alongside the silly indicator-me and sound menu. To NOT have this load after you setup your U1 account, is as ridiculous as not having a sound indicator for your sound. [23:59] I know they disliked the bubble notification because it was 'too noisey' or whatever, but this is the perfect inbetween
