mozilaAlguien puede decirme como agregar varios escritorios en kubuntu?00:00
apparlechristoph: you never used Ubuntu/Linux? are you using computer first time?00:01
apparlechristoph: or even Windows?00:01
christophi am using linux for the first time, yeah. with windows i never had these problems (go on flame me ..)00:02
apparlechristoph: in windows..... you never used Shift+Del?00:02
christophno why should i? trash always worked00:02
apparlechristoph: I never use trash, I just think twice before deleting and then just delete it. Why waste space in trash00:03
christophi never thought of an alternative, i always just put things into trash and then emptied it immediately00:04
apparlechristoph: :) next time use shift+del.00:04
christophyeah its nice, but it makes me crazy that the trash just wont work. its a matter of principle00:05
apparlechristoph: it works here fine.00:07
christophhm may it be a problem with using the same partition for the /home space and the /trash? just guessing here :)00:07
apparlechristoph: goto Settings in dolphin and check if there is somespace alloted for trash00:08
claydohapparle: christoph: there is a section in dolphin's config for this, a number of settings for size, warnings, etc00:12
christophnice i changed the settings from "warn me" to "delete biggest file in trash" and it works :) maybe there were some invisible files in my trash?00:12
claydohchristoph: possibly00:12
apparlechristoph: but again I think shift+del is better :)00:12
christophyeah ill remember that :)00:13
christophman im happy now00:13
christophi dont have to delete kubuntu :)00:13
apparle:D00:13
claydohyou can also llow a 'delete' entry for right-click in  the settings as well00:13
christophalso, i hate myself for not clicking the "settings" button in dolphin -.-00:14
christophseems so easy now :)00:14
claydohchristoph: aww, don't be a hater :)00:14
christophu mean that a right click always deletes a file automatically?00:14
westmiclaydoh, how is that done?00:14
westmioh settings00:15
westmiduh00:15
claydohno, but you can have dolphin add a 'delete' entry when right-clicking on a file00:15

solifugusOthers at my work are saying that it would, which is why they won't install kde.15:32
=== rackIT is now known as rackIT_AFK
BluesKajsolifugus, installing kde adds the default kde apps to the apps menu on gnome and vice versa if you login to kde (kubuntu-desktop), if that's what your friends call invasive then that's their problem, because I don't fing it so.15:48
BluesKajfind15:48
solifugusI don't know if they call that invasive.. they might.  But if that's all it does then I'll try to argue it more...15:49
BluesKajone can choose which desktop at login , that's what I've been doing on this server, but I'm about to drop gnome cuz I don't use it much15:50
DarthFrogsolifugus: When you install kubuntu-desktop on an Ubuntu system, the installer will ask you which Display Manager you wish to use.  It won't slam it from GNOME to KDE on you.  So you can tell your co-workers their fears are groundless.15:55
DarthFrogThe Display Manager (gdm, kdm) is what presents the login screen, BTW.15:56
solifugusright, gdm, kdm, or xdm (the ugly one)15:57

omniuniif you look in /usr/share/icons/oxygen/16x16/ is there a gtk-justify-left icon?17:35
omniuni(or a link to it?)17:35
omniunii know, you said you did it, i'm just double-checking17:36
craigzhengyes, there is. i did it for every available size17:37
omniunican you try:17:37
omniunisudo dpkg-reconfigure gedit17:37
omniunialso, let me know what the output of that is17:38
davidpikachohi guys17:38
davidpikachoi am new here17:38
davidpikacho:D17:38
craigzhengomniuni: no dice. same error still.17:40
craigzhengoh17:40
craigzhengoutput: update-alternatives: using /usr/bin/gedit to provide /usr/bin/gnome-text-editor (gnome-text-editor) in auto mode.17:40
omniunido you have gedit-plugins installed?17:41
craigzhengyes17:41
craigzhengshall i reconfigure that one too?17:41
omniunicraigzheng: can you try removing the config file at .gnome2/gedit/gedit-2?17:44
craigzhengsure17:44
craigzhengok now i'm getting this error right when i start gedit: http://pastie.org/124772917:45
craigzhengbasically the same17:46
omniuniCan you create a folder, and move the snippets plugin, so it would move from the file /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins/snippets/ to /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins-disabled/snippets/ ?17:49
omniunicraigzheng: it looks like the problem is with that plugin, so i'm trying to see if we can disable it17:50
craigzhengok, so it complains about not being able to load that plugin, and then show the "Could not load theme icon gtk-home: Icon 'gtk-home'" error17:53
omniunii goet the gtk-home error too, but gedit launches for me17:53
craigzhengsorry, i think i maybe misstated the problem. gedit is working. just not the plugin.17:54
craigzhengi was trying to get the plugin sorted because it saves me a lot of typing :)17:54
Peace-#kubuntu-offtopic17:55
omniuniah, i'm afraid that sounds like a gedit/gedit-plugins bug, not something with the kde config17:56
craigzhengok, thanks a lot. very much appreciated17:56

omniunicraigzheng: by the way, kate also has a a snippet plugin (though it may not work the same way) and kdevelop has some really great features too. You may want to check those softwares out.17:59
craigzhengomniuni: thanks. i used to use kate, and it's actually the snippets function that converted me to gedit. haven't tried kdevelop in a while though so i'll check it out. thanks again.18:00
yhtomit_hey everyone... I just upgraded to 10.10 and now whenever I run kde apps, like Kate for example, when I perform certain tasks (like opening a file), the kde app hangs and then says something about not being able to communicate with klauncher or kded18:15
yhtomit_anyone know anything about this?18:15

IppatsuManDarthFrog: for the record: upgrading qt from maverick-proposed did not help. The bug was due to the fact that I put the main KDE bar on the top edge of the screen. If it is on the bottom edge, it works flawlessly.21:31

seph321I have a quick question about the KDE wallet? When entering my WPA2 password, I get prompted to store it in the KDE Wallet. Will this then prompt me for the wallet password whenever I login? Is there someway to just remember the wireless password and never be prompted again?21:58
James147seph321: when ever a programs needs access to the wallet it will prompt you for your password (unless its already unlocked)... however the wallet is always locked on login so you will get prompted for your password...22:00
James147seph321: you can however configure network-manager to store its encrpytion keys n plain text (although this is considered more of a security risk, it is less of one then using a passwordless wallet)22:01
=== mren is now known as mren|off
seph321James147: Would this remove the need for entering a password? I'd like it to behave like network-manager in Ubuntu.22:02
James147seph321: also there have been usggestions about unlocking the wallet on login if the passwords match, but kwallet dosnt support this yet and I dont know the current state of it22:02
James147seph321: yes, storing it in plain text will remove the need to enter a password on login22:02
seph321Thanks22:04
