avoHey. So I've got a simple python TCP socket client/server thing going. Except when I try to restart the server soon after it shutting down (like 20 seconds), I get the error: socket.error: [Errno 98] Address already in use. What gives? Thanks!01:52
ebroderavo: That's a "feature". You need to set the SO_REUSEADDR socket option01:53

ubottumalte: You should avoid noisy away messages and -nicks in a busy channel like #ubuntu, or other Ubuntu channels; it causes excessive scrolling which is unfair to new users. Use the command "/away <reason>" to set your client away silently.  See also «/msg ubottu Guidelines»09:50
gesercjwatson: if you have some time after UDS, could you sponsor my vim merge (bug #662276)? It's a classical debdiff as the packaging branch is out-of-date for some time due to an UDD bug.09:59

cr3what might be an appropriate project to report a bug against dbconfig-common?16:27
crimsuncr3: as in a Launchpad project or another source package in Debian/Ubuntu?16:29
cr3crimsun: I was thinking Launchpad but, if I should report a bug elsewhere, I'm easy16:30
crimsuncr3: I might be misinterpreting your question (I interpreted it as "what package might rdepends dbconfig-common?")16:31

nemo'cause surely if others were getting X11 sucking up a gigabyte almost of memory after a few days of use, you'd have a lot more bugs17:02

mallecan someone tell me, what debian/libgtk-2.0-0.symbols does?22:14
malleI need to do some of it on gentoo, too and I'm a little stuck here, cos I don't know how the file works22:14
tumbleweedmalle: it's a list of symbols included in the library, used to pick up ABI breakages and generate correct versioned dependancies22:19
tumbleweedsee the deb-symbols manpage22:19
malletumbleweed: thanks22:38
malletumbleweed: I'm a little stuck here... I want to port appmenu to gentoo and gtk+ just won't compile. on #ayatana I was told it could have something to do with the mentioned file22:39
tumbleweedmalle: pastebin your build failure22:40
malletumbleweed: hang on22:41
malletumbleweed: http://pastebin.ca/197320022:46
malletumbleweed: the same happens with gtk+-2.22.022:46
tumbleweedmalle: I don't know much about gtk+ but that's not in any way releated to .symbols files (which are called by the debian build process, outside the makefile you are using). Looks like missing library headers.22:49
gesermalle: looks like you missing a include or some declarations: "error: ‘ubuntu_gtk_menu_shell_activate_mnemonic’ undeclared here (not in a function)"22:54
=== dendrobates is now known as dendro-afk
malletumbleweed & geser: I thought that, but I can't find any patch among the ubuntu patches that contains that function except for the ubuntu menu proxy patch wich I already applied22:56
gesermalle: see http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/natty/gtk%2B2.0/natty/annotate/head:/debian/patches/043_ubuntu_menu_proxy.patch23:04
mallegeser: that's the patch I applied23:11
mallegeser: wait, I used different revision - lets see23:14
mallegeser: the differences are minimal, though23:14
mallegeser: same failure, as expected23:16
gesermalle: perhaps you have more luck in #ubuntu-desktop next week (when everyone is back from UDS)23:25
mallehm, I'll try23:26
mallegeser: unfortunately I don't understand much of C, so I can't actually interpret the messages well23:26
mallegeser: thanks for your help anyway23:26
