kenniFYI, in case you haven't noticed, it seems like mythmusic from the autobuilds is broken (http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/9186)16:12
Zinn[svn.mythtv.org] #9186 (MythMusic Plugin Missing in Frontend) – MythTV16:12
kenni:)16:13

steviemanI'm having a proble getting my remote workingwith sdlmame and I'm wondering if I am in the right place for help20:18
castlecis anyone available that can talk me through getting my myth/mysql setup correct?  I've been trying to get a second front-end working and started with no upnp on it.  Now I've hosed my local frontend23:24
ChiwauwaI've upgraded from Ubuntu (Mythbuntu) 10.04 to 10.10 - work perfect except for the fact that autostart of mythfronend doesn't work anymore. MCC can not correct it ... disable/apply/enable. Editing custom.conf and .gnomerc doesn't work either. Any suggestions?23:25
Chiwauwacastlec, do you have the primary frontend working with the backend?23:26
castlecnot anymore.  I edited mysql.txt to change localhost to my ip and it decided it didn't want to work anymore even after changing it back23:26
Chiwauwacastlec, are they running on the same machine (backend/primary frontend)23:26
castlecyes, backend and primary frontend are on the same machine. i was attempting to add another frontend23:27
mrandcastlec: Check the .xml file and make sure it matches your mysql.txt file.  mysql.txt is slowly being done away with.23:27
castlecslowly.... ick :)23:28
castlecwhich config? each user has one correct?23:28
mrandeach user could have one, so each user that is launching a front end should match. .  And then /etc/mythtv has one as well I believe23:29
castlecso what is mysql.txt still used for?23:30
mrandmysql.txt is the old way.  It is the fallback if config.xml isn't present.23:30
castlecso, in actuality, I could delete it?23:31
mrandcastlec: I thought I understood that is not present on new installs (if done with 10.04 or 10.10)23:32
castleci upgraded from 9.04 so maybe it's a remnant23:33
castlecno dice on the config.xml update. It says unable to login23:33
mrandcastlec: so you're saying that your config.xml has the correct IP, username, and password?23:35
castleci believe so, yes23:35
castlectry to log in to mysql with it?23:35
mrandsure.  that'd be easy enough and would prove that out23:39
castlecgetting access denied messages23:39
castlecsuccessful to localhost rather than ip23:40
mrandyour remote frontend works?23:40
castlecnegative23:40
castlecsince i started messing with it, I now have no frontends working23:41
castlecso again, locally, I can get into mysql -u mythtv -h localhost -p password23:43
castlecbut not with -h ipaddress23:44
castlecmy.cnf, bind-address            = 192.168.1.223:44
mrandI was just about to ask about that23:45
mrandhttp://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-6.html#ss6.2 (Modifying access to the MySQL database for multiple systems )23:45
Zinn[www.mythtv.org] MythTV, Open Source DVR23:45
castlecthat's where I started and got myself into this mess :)23:46
mrandso you've done the grant all23:46
castlecquestion, what is the /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf for?23:46
castlec[mysqld]23:46
castlecbind-address=0.0.0.023:46
castleci did do the grant all, yes23:47
castlecmy guess is that the mythtv.cnf is overwriting my already set bind-address23:48
mrandhttp://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/316686 mentions the two .cnf files23:48
Zinn[www.gossamer-threads.com] Remote frontend not working - Mythbuntu Control Centre option greyed out? | MythTV | Users23:48
mrandI think you may be onto something there23:48
castlecdoes a mysql restart require a backend restart?23:49
castlecstill the same behavior23:50
mrandI assume that data corruption could occur if the backend is in the middle of writing something to the database, so my understanding is yes.23:51
mrandbut only for that reason23:51
castleci'll try the grant all again just to make sure23:52
castlecis there a way to check the address it is bound to?23:52
mrandsorry, we've about exhausted all of the mysql knowledge i have... I'll have to suggest you ask in #mythtv23:52
mranderrr23:52
mrand#mythtv-users23:52
mrandNOT #mythtv :-)23:52
mrandhaving said that, I am positive that others have encountered what you are, and have solved it, so it should be on the mythtv-users mailing list or forums.23:53
castlecaccidentally restarted :)23:57
castlecstill same behavior.  I can't access mysql with ip address23:59
