[01:12] funkyHat!!!! [01:12] fancy seeing you here [01:12] :) [01:12] hello everybody! [01:13] I'm buying a midi controller for USB for my laptop and midi keyboard -- do all of them generally work with ubuntu/ubuntu studio? or are there some to get or avoid? [03:58] Semitones: hey [03:58] i have an maudio [03:58] out of the box support [03:58] you dont have to buy it at a box store [03:58] BUT maybe you can take a laptop in and just make sure what your looking at works [03:59] OR make sure you can return it [03:59] just in case [04:53] Hello all. Using ubuntu 10.10 I followed the instructions found at (http://tinyurl.com/3a3r2vl), I added the last four lines to my 'default.pa' (http://pastebin.com/4k5aFrnd) in order to permanently merge a sink and a source, but its not working. I got the source and sink names with 'pacmd info' (http://pastebin.com/s8EdwEsr) I beg your help to figure this out, TIA! [04:55] holstein, thanks, the stores where I live are very limited when it comes to midi stuff, but that's great to hear that yours was supported out of the box [05:10] hey nimbiotics [05:10] what are you trying to do? [05:12] all i want to do is be able to record certain phone calls i make thru google voice. the instructions worked fine, excepti I cant make the changes persistent [05:12] holstein: all i want to do is be able to record certain phone calls i make thru google voice. the instructions worked fine, excepti I cant make the changes persistent [05:13] i know [lsd] over in #opensourcemusicians used skype with his podcast [05:14] that would have been with JACK [05:16] maybe you just need to script something [05:16] and have it run at startup [05:17] nimbiotics: is this for podcasting purposes? [05:18] yes, i run a radio show. at home or office we've no problem but when im on the road i use google voice a lot and I need to record (and many times transcript) lots of interviews [05:20] we've been using mumble [05:20] http://mumble.sourceforge.net/ [05:20] nice cross platform, low-latency kind of thing [05:20] i figured that much, i use it at home to play over the lan [05:20] with JACK support on the way [05:21] and an android client in beta :) [05:21] cool [05:21] nimbiotics: SO, you have to be streaming? [05:21] while in google talk? [05:22] can you just be in Gtalk [05:22] recording [05:22] and run a recorder beside it [05:22] what is Gtalk? [05:22] google voice or whatever [05:22] you got google voice running alreayd [05:22] already* [05:23] can you just fire up audacity? [05:23] and record? [05:24] yes but i can only get ONE side of the conversation so I've searched and searched and finaly hit something that works (http://tinyurl.com/3a3r2vl); I just cannot make the changes permanent even though it is explained in the tutorial [05:24] nimbiotics: which side? [05:24] your side? [05:25] holstein: i can get either [05:26] ask around over in #opensourcemusicians [05:26] i know they do it [05:26] and ive never needed to make it work [05:26] more than what we do with mumble [05:27] ok, thanks a lot, at least you gave me a hint, im geting scolded by ohsix at #pulseaudio [05:28] ;) [05:29] mumble is a GREAT product, I've been using it for over a year just to play over the lan at home with my son and neighbors. I love the fact that the server is light as feather [05:29] and easy to get going [05:30] yes it is [05:30] cross platform clients :) [05:30] agaian, THANKS A BUNCH & ttyl! [05:30] nimbiotics: laterx [13:34] hello there [13:43] I'm having problems getting midi to work with my ubuntu studio [13:44] Using MuseScore Midi seems to work, but using rosegarden no midi track can be heared. I tried using timidity's interface to load and play back a midi file but nothing either [13:45] I have the soundfonts installed and tried using rosegarden and timidity with and without jack [14:04] well I got it working using qsynth now. [14:35] hey der_On [14:35] thats what im familiar with [14:36] loading soundfonts in qsynth [14:37] check out http://wootangent.net/category/music/tutorials/ [15:22] holstein: do you know rosegarden well? [15:23] Ive just have another problem. I have a metronom running using qsynth now and trying to record multiple audio tracks, but somehow things get out of sync [18:12] der_On: i have minimal experience in rosegarden [18:12] BUT check out #opensourcemusicians [18:12] holstein: thx
