hjdHi. I have reported a bug, which I am unable to reproduce on other systems, so I'm starting to suspect the Ubuntu upgrades (every version from 8.04 to 10.04) might have caused it. I have commented this in the bug report, but should just change it to invalid?14:28
hjdbug 633425 for details14:30
ubot2Launchpad bug 633425 in klavaro (Ubuntu) "When attempting to reopen Introduction only a thin, blank window is shown (affects: 1) (heat: 50)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/63342514:30
charlie-tcahm, looking at the report, it appears it may have started with the 8.04 to 8.10 upgrade?14:32
hjdI'm not sure. I think I first noticed it some time earlier this year.14:37
charlie-tcaYou are the only one that can reproduce it?14:41
charlie-tcaI am not familar with klavaro, can anyone else reproduce the bug? If we can't tell developers how to do that, they probably can not fix it.14:42
=== CaioAlonso_ is now known as CaioAlonso
hjdseems like it. And I've only been able to reproduce it on one computer. Which is why I'm considering just setting it to invalid, since it seems like it will be hard (if not impossible) to reproduce.14:53
jcastrobdmurray: Unity section doesn't come up for me yet?14:57
charlie-tcaI would agree with that then. If someone can tell how to reproduce it later, it can be marked back to new14:57
joumetalshould bug #284325 be in package libpng as libpng3 is transitional package?15:06
ubot2Launchpad bug 284325 in libpng3 (Ubuntu) "libpng12-0 could do with an extra symlink for compatibility (affects: 7) (dups: 2) (heat: 22)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/28432515:06
hjdcharlie-tca: done. It's now set to invalid.15:06
charlie-tcaThank you for doing that. It is rare to have the reporter question such things.15:07
hjdYou're welcome.15:12
hjdAnother question: I've found bug 479233 and bug 671545 which are duplicates, but I'm unsure which should be kept.15:13
ubot2Launchpad bug 479233 in gnat-gps (Ubuntu) "gnat-gps doesn't have a menu entry (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/47923315:13
ubot2Launchpad bug 671545 in gnat-gps (Ubuntu) "GPS does not show in Applications Menu (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/67154515:13
charlie-tcaNormally, we want to make the report that is most complete the master. In this case, it is simply a desktop file to be built, so make the oldest report the master15:15
charlie-tcaIt should be tagged "desktop-file' too15:16
hjddone. +confirmed :)15:19
charlie-tcaThank you very much for helping15:24
hjdJust contributing a bit where I can. :)15:28
charlie-tcajoumetal: the application with the missing symlink is a .rpm file from outside the repositories?15:32
joumetalyes I think so.15:33
charlie-tcaThen we won't actually touch it15:33
charlie-tcaIf the missing link is something we use in Ubuntu, it is a valid bug. Otherwise, the report should not be against ubuntu. The reporter needs to report it against the rpm file instead15:34
charlie-tcahttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Packages%20not%20provided%20by%20Ubuntu15:36
* joumetal still thinks it would be easier to have that symlink.15:45

FanshaweHello, bug squad. I was looking for some clarification on the Evolution sound bug.17:04
FanshaweI can't get Evolution to play sounds on scheduled events.17:04
charlie-tcaFanshawe: what kind of clarification? If it is a bug, is it filed as a bug?17:07
FanshaweI believe so. But I couldn't find a fix. That's what I was looking for.17:08
FanshaweIn fact I think there are more than a few instances of the bug being reported.17:08
charlie-tcaA bug being reported means their is no fix yet17:09
charlie-tcaBy checking the report, you might find a workaround for the issue.17:10
FanshaweI see17:13
Fanshawewell thank you, I'll look around more17:13

blemishthis is the bug that's been keeping me up for days :-(20:06
bbordwellblemish, its very odd that it works on a live cd but not on his install20:09
bbordwellblemish, is this your bug or are you just trying to triage it?20:12

blemishdont know what though20:55
blemishbrb20:55
blemishbbordwell: ok, I'm back21:05
bbordwellblemish, alright I am not immedietly seeing anything, but just to be sure have you checked alsamixer and made sure all the sliders are up?21:06
blemishbbordwell: yes. and the alsa modules are loaded21:11
bdmurraysense: did anybody take care of your membership yet?21:12
sensebdmurray: Not yet.21:12
bbordwellblemish, alright, do you have a integrated sound chip as well as the pci card?21:13
bdmurraysense: you are all set now21:14
sensebdmurray: Thank you!21:15
blemishbbordwell: yes, but the integrated chip is disabled in bios21:20
blemishbbordwell: sound works in windows 7, which is set up on another hdd21:21
bbordwellblemish, in sound settings>hardware what is selected in the drop box?21:22
blemishca0106 Soundblaster - the only option21:23
bbordwellblemish, below that, under where it says "setting for selected device"21:24
blemishAnalog Stereo Duplex21:25
bbordwellblemish, sounds right...21:26
blemishbbordwell: what about the input settings21:34
bbordwellblemish, afaik input settings are just for recording21:34
blemishI see21:35
blemishout of curiosity: which option do you have set?21:35
bbordwellblemish, I have it set to my onboard sound cuz I never bothered to change it to my x-fi21:36
bbordwellblemish, have you tried playing changing the profile under output setting just to see if it has any effect? stereo duplex should be right but you never know, perhaps analog stereo?21:38
bbordwelloops delete playing out of that sentence21:38
blemishbbordwell: to analog stereo output?21:39
bbordwellblemish, ya just try a few other setting to see if it has any effect, i doubt it but worth a try21:40
blemishbbordwell: nope, didn't work21:44
blemishbtw, what's the difference between anallog and digital outputs?21:44
njinhello, verified: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/67469221:53
ubot2Launchpad bug 674692 in ubuntu "Ubuntu Software Center should indicate that Ultraedit is a trial version (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Undecided,Confirmed]21:53
njinIs a wrong version?21:54
njinyofel: sorry, ^^^ we have in the repo software wothout licence and in trial version21:57
njinpersia: hello, sorry if disturb, ^^^^sorry, ^^^ we have in the repo software wothout licence and in trial version22:00
persianjin, Are you sure?  I don't see ultraedit available.22:01
yofelwell, it's in partner, so under canonicals maintenance22:01
persiaOh, that's not our repo then.22:01
yofelhttp://paste.ubuntu.com/530904/22:01
persiaYeah, not ours at all.22:02
ScottKYes.  I assigned the bug to the correct package.22:03
njinAh, thanks for the explication, i've enabled partner22:04
* persia wishes that assign-bugs-to-PPAs was working, and https://blueprints.launchpad.net/partner-packaging/+spec/partner-to-ppas was implemented, to resolve the semantic confusion of that being a bug against "uex (Ubuntu)"22:08
yofelI would really like to see that you can one day assing a package to something like 'packagename (PPA name)'22:16
persiaDunno if it will, but would be nice to have as part of https://dev.launchpad.net/LEP/DerivativeDistributions or https://dev.launchpad.net/SoyuzArchiveDerivatives or https://dev.launchpad.net/VersionThreeDotO/Soyuz/PPAUI22:20
persiaDoing it right really requires someone to engage the LP team with a clear vision and rationale, supported by either someone willing to do the coding or some overwhelmingly good arguments why someone else should do the coding.22:21
blemishcan anybody help with this bug22:48
blemishhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/67117822:48
ubot2Launchpad bug 671178 in alsa-driver (Ubuntu) "[CA0106 - CA0106] ALSA test tone not correctly played back (affects: 1) (dups: 1) (heat: 12)" [Undecided,New]22:48
blemishit's driving me nuts22:48
blemishno sound for weeks22:48
blemishor at least if you can point me to an expert in the field22:48
calaen0Maybe this is the right place  to ask this question. If not, pardon me....23:47
calaen0I have a custom-compiled arcmsr module that I want to try to resolve some issues with the arcmsr module that ships with Ubuntu. I have it built and it is in /lib/modules/*/extras/ However, when I restart the machine, the default module in /lib/modules/*/drivers/scsi/ gets loaded. How do I tell Ubuntu to load the module from extras/ ? I want to see if it solves a hangup bug.23:47
