[05:11] hi [05:12] i have problems with ffado [05:12] firewire ERR: Error creating FFADO streaming device [05:12] cannot load driver module firewire [05:20] hey Splashman [05:20] what firewire device? [05:21] focusrite pro 24 [05:21] AH [05:21] i think you need a PPA for that [05:21] let me look... [05:22] ive got the dsp but they say wht is currently working without [05:22] thank u very much [05:22] https://launchpad.net/~autostatic/+archive/ffado [05:22] ^^ i think you need that [05:22] ive instaled the 2. 01 from sources [05:23] i know Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 works with it [05:23] ive got the sme chipset [05:23] the dice II [05:24] you can use http://ubuntu-tweak.com/ [05:24] there is a PPA purge function [05:24] Splashman: i have a presonus firepod [05:24] when i first fire it up [05:24] i run sudo qjackctl [05:24] to troubleshoot permissions [05:24] i have tweak [05:25] and make sure that its possible that the device will work [05:25] where imust look [05:25] Splashman: in tweak ? [05:25] yes [05:25] theres PPA purge in there somewhere [05:25] * holstein looking... [05:25] the ppa purge [05:26] Splashman: its in the 'Package Cleaner' section [05:26] i must reinstall [05:26] "purge PPA's" [05:27] ive installed the ffado lib 2.01 [05:27] is necessary reboot? [05:27] i would think so [05:27] at least loging out and back in prolly [05:27] i gonna see [05:31] i think is not working [05:32] holstein the light of sinc is off [05:32] you got the red light [05:32] OH [05:32] i dont know about the lights on that unit actually [05:32] only no light [05:32] Splashman: that is with the ffado from that PPA ? [05:32] autostatics? [05:33] firewire ERR: Error creating FFADO streaming device [05:33] cannot load driver modul [05:33] from the sources [05:33] Splashman: are you on 10.04? [05:33] yes [05:33] no [05:33] 10.10 [05:33] hmmm [05:34] that might be a problem [05:34] Build from svn needed to get my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 running. This is a svn checkout of the 2.x.0 branch, so NOT the 2.0.1 branch! This means my packages might not have support for the new FireWire (juju) stack, you need 2.0.1 for that [05:34] ^^ from https://launchpad.net/~autostatic/+archive/ffado [05:34] im not clear on what that means exactly [05:35] if that means the 2.0.1 build should support your device [05:35] ive installed the 2.01 becose they put support extra for focusrite [05:35] OR that the 2.x.0 verion in that PPA is the only one that'll work [05:35] and it wont work with ubuntu 10.10 [05:35] which AFAIK has the juju stack [05:35] Splashman: AH [05:35] cool [05:35] so dont worry with that PPA then [05:36] Splashman: you using the firewire driver? [05:36] in qjackctl? [05:36] if i have something else conected? [05:36] and trying sudo qjackctl? [05:36] try sudo qjackctl [05:36] and hit start [05:37] and http://paste.ubuntu.com/ me the errors [05:37] it opens [05:37] opens and starts? [05:38] nope [05:38] only opens [05:38] hahaha [05:38] what are the errors? [05:38] in the message window? [05:38] Ubuntu Pastebin [05:39] Splashman: where is that from? [05:39] Splashman: in qjackctl under 'setup' [05:39] thats from the console [05:39] uncheck that 'realtime' checkbox [05:39] nothing in the message window [05:40] in the setup tab is unchecked [05:41] still no go? [05:42] Splashman: if you like KDE [05:42] check out KXstudio [05:42] kx studio? [05:42] you might get the dev to add support for you :) [05:42] for that device [05:42] http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/ [05:43] i use the PPA's from there [05:43] but i dont like KDE [05:43] i just want sound [05:43] Splashman: im going to give you a couple suggestions [05:43] even ive got the two moors installed [05:43] #opensourcemusicians [05:44] the ffado and/or ubuntustudio mailing lists [05:44] and try and catch autostatic on here sometime [05:45] a lot of peolpe in that opensourse [05:45] :)
