EleanorUsing apt-get to install ubuntu-desktop, process has an ioctl error. Does anyone know of a nice way to break out of an endless loop and still continue with the installation, please?06:45
chestyEleanor: pastebin the message you're getting on the screen06:55
EleanorCannot do that - the troublesome computer is stck in a loop. Message says [some.number] sr0: CDROM (ioctl) error,command: Test Unit Ready 00 00 00 00 00 00 07:06
chestythat's good enough, i would guess the cdrom has some errors on it, I don't think you can recover gracefully from this point. you'd have to ctrl-c at the least07:08
EleanorI think you are right - will ^C it. My cdrom is alright, but the sr module has issues with it.07:19
EleanorActually,^C returned me briefly to the coomand prompt, but ten seconds later, the loop kept going. Better try removing modprobe.07:40
