ryemahen, hi!08:35
diverse_izzueverterok, are you awake? :-)10:47
diverse_izzueapparently not :-) honk!10:55
ryediverse_izzue, hi10:55
diverse_izzuehi rye! i'm sorry, but i'm back :-/10:56
ryediverse_izzue, i will need some bits of context :)10:56
diverse_izzuei had an issue we looked at with facundobatista and verterok yesterday10:56
diverse_izzuethey are american time zone?10:56
ryediverse_izzue, yup10:57
diverse_izzuerye, if i update you, can we look at it?10:58
ryediverse_izzue, yes, however i need to do some bank-related stuff during next 30 minutes so i will be away10:58
diverse_izzuerye, then do that first. i have stuff to work on as well. when are the south american usually showing up?10:59
ryediverse_izzue, facundo should be here in 2 hours11:01
diverse_izzuerye, then i best wait for him, will be most time saving for all of us i think11:02
psypher246hi all12:03
psypher246honk\12:05
psypher246honk12:05
facundobatistaHola psypher24612:05
psypher246facundobatista: hello! if i log a bug and mark it as privtae do i actually have to come here and let someone know b4 it's gets picked up?12:05
facundobatistapsypher246, don't know exactly how private bugs work12:06
facundobatistapsypher246, I guess the project team could see people's private bugs, otherwise they would be useless12:06
psypher246thats what i thought12:07
psypher246cos i;ve had no response for over a week on a stability bug for the latest u112:07
psypher246https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+bug/67336812:07
ubot4`psypher246: Error: Bug #673368 is private.12:07
facundobatistaje12:08
duanedesign'lo all12:13
duanedesignpsypher246: yeah that is kninda the trafe off with private bugs. Not as many people can see the bug so you have less people who can triage it.12:18
duanedesigntrade off*12:18
psypher246duanedesign: so I have to let you guys know if i makeit private?12:19
duanedesignpsypher246: ideally you should not have to. But if it is an issue that is preventing you form using the software/service definetly you can come here to get more immediate help.12:22
facundobatistapsypher246, your problem is ubuntuone stability or at-login startup?12:24
psypher246ok, well it's not stopping me completely, it just deosnt;/ run as stable as it was before i installed the latest version via PPA, doesn't co9nnect automatically onstartup sometimes or requires a reboot to get connected12:25
facundobatistapsypher246, we should talk about that stability issue, startup connection depends of your configuration, and you should never reboot to get it connected; however, they are *three different* issues, and we should separate them12:32
psypher246facundobatista: ok12:33
psypher246the startup thing worked fine before the upgrade12:33
psypher246but traffic shaping was not working so i had to upgrade to fix it12:34
facundobatistapsypher246, ok12:41
facundobatistapsypher246, so, you don't have any current problem? the bug can be closed?12:53
psypher246no currently those are my problems12:53
psypher246since upgrading, shaping workes, but it broke auto startup and made it unstable12:53
facundobatistapsypher246, ok, let's talk about auto startup12:56
psypher246ok12:56
facundobatistapsypher246, you login to your computer, syncdaemon starts and doesn't connect, or does not start at all?12:56
psypher246I think syncdaemon starts, but when you look at the client it either says connecting or service not started (or solmething like that)13:00
alecuhi all13:01
psypher246then i have to click connect, and then it starts sycning or going through metadata13:01
larsemilwhats the status on the android storage app?13:04
facundobatistapsypher246, ok, we should know more specifically if it says connecting or what, for further debugging; how are you looking at the client?13:13
psypher246i am using the indicator applet mostly13:13
psypher246the logs i posted is before i click conect13:15
mandelChipaca, vds do we have an standup 2day?13:21
duanedesignlarsemil: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AndroidU113:22
duanedesignkarni: 6^13:23
larsemilduanedesign: whoa! thanks!13:25
facundobatistapsypher246, all the logs I checked in your bug end with "Not User With Network", which means that you still didn't tell the client to connect13:25
psypher246so what makes the client sometimes connect on it's own but mostly not?13:26
larsemilduanedesign: alltough maintenance so i cant check it out. :D13:27
alecumandel, I think we do, 30 minutes from now.13:27
facundobatistapsypher246, is it connecting automatically at some point? it should never connect automatically IIRC13:28
Chipacamandel: yes, of course13:28
psypher246it used to start up automatically no problem13:28
facundobatistapsypher246, in the bug you say "never connected"13:28
psypher246and no, it doesn't connect at all, i can leave it all day and it womn't connect13:28
mandelalecu, Chipaca, I was just wondering since I did not know hoe many were on holidays13:29
Chipacafacundobatista: it should start and connect automatically unless it's not selected in starup applications13:29
facundobatistaChipaca, so, if it starts automatically, it should connect automatically?13:29
psypher246yes and sometimes no matrer how many tiems you say connect or disconnect and reconnect, or restart or kill all the processes and start up again, it just won't connect, then i reboot and it connects by itself on starup13:29
Chipacafacundobatista: yes. there is a bug that got fixed :)13:29
Chipacafacundobatista: about it not connecting when started automatically13:29
psypher246when was that fixed?13:30
Chipacapsypher246: how many files do you have?13:30
facundobatistaChipaca, do you have the bug number?13:30
Chipacarye: what's the bug number of your famous "oops i committed this fix without an actual review"? :)13:30
ryeChipaca, bug #651237 - I have it in my "Hall of fame"13:32
ubot4`Launchpad bug 651237 in ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu Maverick) (and 4 other projects) "ubuntuone-launch fails to start syncdaemon if dbus call times out (affects: 3) (heat: 70)" [Undecided,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65123713:32
Chipacapsypher246: facundobatista: rolled out in 1.4.5-0ubuntu113:33
=== JanC_ is now known as JanC
Chipacapsypher246: nevertheless, syncdaemon should *eventually* accept your connect request. Are you willing to help us debug this?13:35
psypher246yeah sure13:35
facundobatistapsypher246, so, you have the client in that "not connected state"?13:36
psypher246today was one of those days where it connected it self and started going thorugh metadata13:36
psypher246i would hav e to reboot to see13:36
facundobatistapsypher246, you can just disconnect it13:36
psypher246yeah but mostly then it works, but i will try13:36
facundobatistapsypher246, in your bug, any of the attached logs was not connected, and you told it to connect?13:36
Chipacarye: how do you dump the cache? something about a 3 into some proc file somewhere :)13:37
psypher246yeah after i8 pulled the logs, cos then it works, wanted to showe the state before have gin to manually connect13:37
ryeChipaca, sudo sysctl vm.drop_caches=313:37
Chipacapsypher246: after you quit syncdaemon, purge the disk cache like that ^13:37
Chipacapsypher246: that should increase your chances of repeating post-reboot behavior13:38
psypher246ok currently, it's the the disconnected state cos it's still running through several thousand files13:38
psypher246so whats the best way to stop it now?13:38
facundobatistapsypher246, to fully stop it? u1sdtool -q13:39
psypher246done13:39
psypher246indicator applet says service not running13:40
psypher246cleared cache13:40
psypher246should i connect now?13:40
facundobatistapsypher246, you should start the client first13:41
psypher246started13:41
facundobatistapsypher246, what answers u1sdtool -s13:42
facundobatista?13:42
psypher246u1sdtool -s13:44
psypher246Oops, an error ocurred:13:44

psypher246Failure: dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of com.ubuntuone.SyncDaemon timed out13:44
Chipacapsypher246: yeah, that's the source of many headaches13:44
Chipacapsypher246: but it's not as bad as it sounds; it's merely that syncdaemon is busy during startup and can't get to answer dbus in time13:44
Chipacapsypher246: wait a while and try again, and at some point it should start answering (unless file sync has been disabled)13:45
psypher246no it's enabled13:45
facundobatistaChipaca, I filed a bug about giving a better message there13:46
