HewDoes natty exist for UNE atm? I can't find any isos.09:30
nperryHew: No, Desktop CD has unity as default.09:53
Hewnperry, is desktop replacing UNE for 11.04? or is this just temporary?09:55
nperryNope replacing it.. UNE only had different window manager and chromium as default (iirc_09:56
Hewnperry, UNE never had chromium (for release anyway)09:57
HewUNE is a different release..09:57
nperryHew, couldn't remeber if it did ship with chromium. I know it was spoken about.09:58
Hewlooks like you're right about no more UNE isos though, amazing! https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/packageselection-desktop-n-bringing-desktop-and-netbook-image-closer10:00

andrew___hi, i'm on natty live cd..i'm trying to remove ahci module with rmmod but it says that's in use.. but i have no mounted partitions..is there a way to remove it?17:11
andrew___or.. if it's simplier.. how to disable the hdd so i can remove the module easly?17:16
andrew___no idea?17:19
IdleOneandrew___: what version are you running?17:21
andrew___natty? daily build. kernel? 2.6.37-5-generic17:21
IdleOneok, please don't ask natty questions in #ubuntu17:21
IdleOnealso cross posting is ugh17:21
andrew___btw..17:23
andrew___well. that solution probably will work also here..and there are more people there that can help..17:23
nperryIdleOne: this is #ubuntu-+117:23
nperryWe can ask natty questions here17:23
IdleOnenperry: yes17:23
andrew___nperry: i've asked also in #ubuntu17:23
IdleOnebut he also asked the same support question in #ubuntu17:23
nperryAh my bad, will now shut up :)17:23
IdleOnehehe no problem17:24
andrew___IdleOne: btw, because i've a ahci module file that can support my hdd17:24
IdleOneandrew___: I don't know the answer to your question unfortunately17:25
andrew___so inserting on livecd lets me install on my hdd17:25
andrew___:( my bad..17:25
andrew___i'll wait tomorrow.. when alpha 1 will be released17:25
andrew___easier question :) where can i download the source from this kernel is built?17:28
nperryHow come I can't aptitude change unity17:28
nperrySays doesn't exist :S17:28
BUGabundoit doesn't17:29
BUGabundoits not called like that17:29
patdk-wkyou can't remove ahci, it's needed to access your harddrive17:29
patdk-wkso you need to tell your bios to disable ahci, then linux kernel won't use ahci, and it won't load17:29
andrew___patdk-wk: mmhh.. i've 2 hdd, one sata-2 and one sata-3...with patched ahci.c module i can see the sata-3.. if i disable the sata-2 (that can be used now) the ahci module will not be used right?17:31
patdk-wkno, it all has to do with your bios settings17:32
andrew___so i can unload ahci, insmod the new one and use the sata-3?17:32
patdk-wkoh, you want to use the new module vs the old one?17:32
patdk-wkgoing need a reboot17:32
andrew___right..to install on sata-3 hdd17:32
andrew___patdk-wk: i have no chanche to do that'17:36

linuxfreakerandrew__:Is Ubuntu 11.04 coming up with two days back released 2.6.37-rc417:56
andrew___is that a question?17:56
linuxfreakerandrew__: Just amazed to find that it contains 2.6.37-rc417:56
andrew___well... i need this patch to see my hdd http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-natty.git;a=commit;h=238701fba4a491b8c97cd3bbe1083fedb530f7ed17:57
linuxfreakerandrew__:The link yu mentioned says that UBUNTU: re base to v2.6.37-rc417:58
andrew___the 7th link is that patch.. and if it's included in alpha build i'll have that patch on it and i can install..either..no..17:59
linuxfreakerYeah I talked to ubuntu-devel..they say its rc318:00
shcherbaklinuxfreaker: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/natty-desktop-i386.iso18:00
andrew___the alpha? so no patch?18:00
linuxfreakershcherbak: I read that Ubuntu is not going to follow rolling release(daily releases)..how come the daily build comes in picture18:02
shcherbaklinuxfreaker: i gues they like to compile often (that alpha is very often changed so instead of updated you have dailies )18:04
shcherbaklinuxfreaker: more-less18:04
andrew___btw, i'll try to replace the module compiled with the same kernel version in the live cd.. :/ i hope that works18:05
andrew___i mean by hand in the casper boot image18:06

nperryWould you say this is a bug/paper cut - not to sure if its reported22:02
nperryI've got two terminals open at the moment, #1 and #2. When I'm in #2 and swap to another window, say chromium, it defaults back to #122:03
nperryWhich is the first one i've open, not the last one was used.22:03
leagrisnperry, yes noticed compiz is unstable. Hope this will be fixed. Compiz zoom is my best helper as a visually impaired (10% sight). As a temporary workaround i switched to 800x600 resolution. Guess what, even standard window layouts don't fit even 1024 pixels wide. :) Thanks and sorry for the very late answer.22:20
yofelerrr, does firefox 4 install addon updates without asking? One of my addons suddenly started working again without me ever getting a notice of that...22:35
vishyofel: i think there is an auto-update option22:42
vishrather there is..22:42
vishyofel: you might have the addons update set to 'auto'22:42
yofelaaah, found it22:43
yofelI would have expected that to be in settings->updates and not in the addons page though...22:44
vishyofel: lol! i too realized just now that one of my addons just started working!22:48
