djr013Did Maverick intentionally get rid of the inactive window titlebar transparency effect?01:25
djr013Just wondering, I noticed it was gone...01:26
coz_djr013,  I know who is online right now here other than me01:26
coz_many logged on though01:27
djr013coz_: Huh? You mean nobody else is, or just that you know who is?01:29
coz_djr013,  I dont know who is actually at their systems right now01:29
djr013coz_: I'd be quite surprised if you did! :P01:30
coz_djr013,  depending  on you time zone   most of these guys are in europe01:30
coz_djr013,  I have been on the community art team since nearly day one  and still havent figured out the busy time here :)01:30
djr013:)01:31
coz_I do know a few are working on the compiz unity project at the moment01:31
j_baerivanka: Are you available?09:58
woutervddnhey guys, I'm searching for a program to create animations.. I used adobe flash before but is there an equivalent for linux?13:28
leoquantwoutervddn, blender maybe?13:29
woutervddnhmm.. I'm installing that right now.. but I've searched a bit and it seems blender is more like an alternative for illustrator13:30
leoquantvia google: KToon and Pencil13:31
woutervddnhmm.. apperantly it wasn't a good idea to run blender in fullscreen and then try to change desktop -_-'13:42
woutervddnleoquant.. I also found those but I was wondering which ones are good.. :)13:43
leoquantwoutervddn, sorry I have no exper. with them13:46
woutervddnI'll guess I'll be trying some until I find a good one :p13:46
woutervddnthx anyways guys..13:46
leoquantindeed ツ13:46
thorwilwoutervddn: i had no problem with running blender fullscreen and switching workspaces in the past. might be a regression, it's certainly not inherent to blender14:12
woutervddnit might be because I'm using two screens and both with another resolution..14:12
woutervddnanyways.. my system stalled.. but it's like a one time adventure.. once you know that's gonna happen you use the windowed mode..14:13
thorwilwoutervddn: blender is a 3d suite, might be compared to 3ds max, cinema 4d or maya (how well it fares in comparison depends on your needs or who you ask)14:13
thorwilwoutervddn: the situation regarding animation on linux is rather sad14:14
thorwilwoutervddn: have a look at synfig. closest we have no Flash's animation capabilities, though pretty rough ui14:14
thorwillast time i looked, pencil and ktoon appeared to be rather dead14:15
woutervddnthorwil I just saw a video on youtube about pencil.. I think it will be the closest to flash.. but will let you know14:16
woutervddnktoon looks nice but only when all artwork is done in gimp allready.14:16
woutervddnI'd love to use something else then flash, but it's not easy.. there isn't another "protocol" that does what flash does..14:17
woutervddnI mean, gif if far to narrow and java or C is to wide..14:17
thorwilaside of the format, we have no authoring tool that is half as nice14:19
woutervddntrue.. for websites html5 is a bless but that still doesn't solve the problem for all other stuff..14:20
woutervddnthere must be someone out there with the knowledge and the time..14:20
thorwilthere was an attempt at an outright clone called flash4linux. project got stuck and died14:21
thorwilso no, so far no one with the knowledge and time14:22
woutervddnyes.. I heard about that.. but uira derived from the ashes.. although that wasn't a succes either..14:22
thorwilmeanwhile, synfig has a great concept, but stability issues and ui from hell14:22
woutervddnjust found a project called cooties "our goals is for cooties to kill flash"14:22
woutervddnsound like the spirit -_-' xD14:23
woutervddnall programs have massive downsides.. cooties can't handle color transitions14:25
woutervddnand pencil doesn't know how to add text..14:25
woutervddn:s14:25
woutervddnI guess I'll go for synfig.. seems the most decent one..15:08
cozziemotowoutervddn,  there is apng15:21
cozziemotowoutervddn,   although the you have to make each frame by hand15:21
cozziemotoand then animate it via apng15:21
coz_or maybe openlazlo?15:34
woutervddnI don't know them, will try them out..15:37
coz_woutervddn,  I have never used openlazo  or tried to compile it15:40
coz_woutervddn,  apng is actually a firefox plugin... that loads separate png image frrames you create,,,then atnimates them and saves them as a .apng file ..single file that will run with anything that can use it ,,,I have only used it to show ideas of animations  via firefox15:41
woutervddnuhu..15:43
djr013Anyone know if the inactive titlebar transparency effect was intentionally disabled in Maverick?18:35
vishdjr013: yea19:13
djr013vish: It was?19:13
vishdjr013: it was too much, and nearly transparent.. hence reverted19:13
vishdjr013: its just a setting in metacity, you can set it yourself from the gonf19:14
vishgconf*19:14
djr013vish: Oh, I see, I'll check, thanks. :)19:14
vishnp..19:14
djr013vish: The setting is under metacity even when running compiz? :/19:15
darkmatterw00t! finally settled on a wallpaper! now I can start the gtk/windeco/icon work!19:16
vishdjr013: yup..19:16
vishdarkmatter: no, we wont ask for a sneak peek..! pls dont show us! ;)19:16
darkmatterwasn't planning too :P just took a week to find one :P19:17
vishthanks :)19:17
woutervddndarkmatter it is hell to find a decent wallpaper out of all the junk.. so I made my own yesterday..19:18
djr013vish: I don't see any settings which seem related. The closest I can find is compositing_manager...19:18
vishdjr013: just a sec19:18
darkmatterwoutervddn: :)19:19
djr013darkmatter, woutervddn: Wikimedia Commons (IIRC) has some nice wallpaper-quality stuff. :)19:20
vishdjr013: it's /apps/gwd/metacity_theme_opacity    and so on..19:21
djr013vish: Oh, I see. :) I didn't think it was under ../metacity/...that would be an odd place for compiz to read from.19:22
djr013Anyone here using Lucid? What's your /apps/gwd/metacity_theme_opacity setting in gconf set to?19:23
vishdjr013: default is 1 , anything less than 1 will turn the border more transparent.. ;)19:24
djr013vish: Well yeah I know. :) That's why I'm asking for anyone from Lucid to check, so I can see what it was before it was changed to 1 in Maverick.19:25
vishdjr013: it was always 1.. :)19:25
djr013Oh.. :/19:25
djr013Then...why was it semitransparent in the past?19:26
vishdjr013: never always, it was only during beta and then it was reverted..19:26
vishdust theme used to change the setting..19:26
vishnice oxymoron! 'never always' ;p19:27
djr013Oh. :D I had no idea... Not sure how it got to mine, I wasn't using beta on this comp. But, perhaps due to ppa's or something.19:27
vishdjr013: or maybe it was reverted later.. i'm not sure of the exact update date..19:28
