[13:00] i wanted to play a game [13:00] I want to play WoW. GF disapproves :( [13:01] actually.. long story short.. Im having Sound Issues [13:01] and its effecting everything now [13:01] What issues? [13:01] it was isolated just to the game and Mangler [13:01] but now its affecting flash and local mp3 [13:02] well, the sounds skip or dont get played at all [13:02] which OS? [13:02] and video skips [13:02] or runs at double time [13:02] 10.10 [13:02] it used not to do it, but that was before i installed pulse audio [13:03] it was removed eariler in the year when i first installed 10.10 [13:03] due to this exact issue [13:03] but the program requires PulseAudio [13:03] :( [13:04] http://www.ubuntugeek.com/fix-for-all-pulseaudio-related-issues.html [13:04] Title: Howto solve all PulseAudio-related issues in Ubuntu | Ubuntu Geek (at www.ubuntugeek.com) [13:04] Might help :) [13:04] * SamuraiAlba is good at GoogleFu :) [13:04] * SamuraiAlba dances [13:04] * SamuraiAlba wants nachos now [13:05] Does that help, any? [13:10] I just googled, quickly. I have a knack for finding quick solutions, in most cases. [13:16] dont know yet. made pop tarts and oj [13:17] oooh [13:17] I'm making chicken enchiladas and rice. at 8:17am [13:19] mroning [13:22] Mornin! [13:23] funny.. [13:24] the link you gave SamuraiAlba... [13:24] 1. its for older version of ubuntu [13:24] poop [13:24] 2. it requires me to remove pulseaudio [13:24] Enter the following commands: [13:24] sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio [13:24] so in essence.. [13:25] poop [13:25] the fix for pulseaudio is to get rid of it.. [13:25] :O [13:25] that's...4 [13:25] stinky [13:25] but [13:25] it works [13:26] video is correct speed, flash plays music.. now to see if game works right, then to Mangler [13:31] working? [13:40] Well.. [13:40] game sound is working.. [13:40] but Mangler is not [13:41] so now i have to Wine+Vent which is a hassle. [13:41] i give up. [13:41] Which game? [14:08] Well. Any native game [14:08] for linux [14:08] i wanted to see how well they are [14:08] if not, then ill have to go back to Wine+Steam [16:23] So, after all that work I did to install Ubuntu on my work laptop and run Server 08 as a VM... I wiped it all out last night. It was just way too slow. [16:23] virtualization-- [16:25] I need a laptop with two entire computers built into it [16:26] I need a laptop that runs ESX, with a "graphical terminal" for viewing the VMs [16:26] You can install ESX onto unsupported hardware if you add the driver [16:26] So basically what you said, I guess, except the machine that owns the "screen" only has to act as a viewer. [16:26] But, I don't think it will be very convenient on a laptop. [16:26] ChinnoDog: ESXi doesn't display VMs. [16:26] ah right [16:26] theres no way to view them locally [16:27] I had Xenclient installed on the laptop. That was fast, but no linux support! [16:27] a "viewer" that could run on ESXi would make that model awesome ;) [16:27] ChinnoDog: maybe we could make something. [16:27] I briefly tried an experiment on my desktop at home to run ESXi and assign the video card to a VPC but that didn't work. My CPU was too old; no vt-d built in. [16:28] I have ESXi running on a bunch of xSeries in the basement. [16:28] But no good way to display it :P [16:28] and it's obviously not very portable. [16:29] In any case, virtualization sucks. The latency is bad. [16:29] I dream of virtualization at night. [16:30] I dream of better written software so you don't have to virtualize. [17:02] http://truthfulobfuscation.blogspot.com/ [17:02] Title: Networking, Network Security, Technology, and Truth (at truthfulobfuscation.blogspot.com) [17:50] hi SamuraiAlba [17:51] SamuraiAlba: why did you change your nick? [17:55] I no longer DJ [17:58] Why not? [18:01] Just... meh [18:01] Got bored of being an online DJ [18:01] And SamuraiAlba sounds cool. Maybe I'll go to Blackhat some day [18:02] I'm going for my assoicate in applied science degree for network security, then bach., then masters, then doc. [18:06] Downloading Debian atm. So much fun... [18:06] * SamuraiAlba chokes teh webernets connection at this place [18:08] All you need is a basic boot image, and then you can apt-get the rest. [18:09] I'm downlaoding all. V M time :) [18:12] https://launchpad.net/~ashnarofsargeras [18:12] Title: /dev/n00b in Launchpad (at launchpad.net) [18:13] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DevNoob [18:13] Title: DevNoob - Ubuntu Wiki (at wiki.ubuntu.com) [18:26] SamuraiAlba: I work in customer support at a small software company. [18:28] Type of software? [18:28] ERP [18:29] (I know, that is pretty broad...) [18:29] actually, my mind quickly went to "oh god, another acronym" [18:29] Then my browser went to google [18:45] The short answer: ERP (enterprise resource planning) software is generally defined as a framework with assorted applications that are able to share data with each other. [18:48] aka, internet [18:55] more like how you can generate a graph in excel and have word import it and screw up the formatting [18:56] lol [18:57] Yes, only more integrated so you can spread the fail around faster. [18:57] (At least, with Word...) [19:40] Dont get me started on Word [19:40] Damn thing locks solid whenever I change the page to landscape. [19:58] It was never stable enough in Wine for me to use it [19:58] I only use on Windoze [20:00] ChinnoDog: my business is ERP development (: [22:54] o/ [23:07] two more weeks, then i'll be back to living in PA full time again *sigh* [23:09] two more weeks and it will be BREAK :D :D [23:09] i also just got my first gig! so everyone should go. [23:11] maco: no sigh! you can get things going around pittsburgh :) [23:12] there's an active lug there full of ubuntu and slackware users [23:12] oh wait bethlynn joined fedora... [23:12] there was one release party where the lug and loco collaborated, but nothing since [23:12] oh i can just imagine how i will be swept into "you must do thingies for olf!!!" if im living that close to bethlynn... [23:13] hehe [23:13] by the way: lugs_that_require_driving_to_get_to_meetings-- [23:14] (dclug = get off the metro at farragut west or farragut north or foggy bottom and then walk 3-5 blocks) [23:14] hmm....or dupont circle [23:55] Long time no see, everyone [23:56] How are we all?
