terr_I want to intall Ubuntu in one of my computers and I think the ONLY way I can boot the thing is via a USB flash disc.  Does anyone know if there is a boot image I can install in the USB stick and where I might find instructions?19:33
phillwterr_: give me one moment :)19:34
phillwdo you have ethernet link for the computer?19:35
terr_phillw: the computer has ethernet.  I think windows is installed now but I'll be pulling that HDD.  Only other way I know is if I put the HDD into a different computer then move it once ubuntu is installed.19:36
phillwterr_: have a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick#USB%20flash%20drive it's a little outdated, but does explain about making a usb boot disk. The easiest way to do it is to have the usb-creator program on a machine and the lubuntu iso also there :)19:39
terr_phillw: what is a USB creator program?  I would typically just use DF and copy the boot image and MBR19:41
phillwterr_: sudo apt-get install usb-creator19:41
terr_phillw: won't work on this machine... its Debian Woody - way to old!  LOL19:42
phillwit does not ship with lubuntu as we have to keep the size and resources usage down.19:43
terr_phillw: I just looked up USB-Creator... yup - this appears to be what I need.  I'll read up and give it a go.19:46
