[13:34] you might want to try lubuntu. :D [13:34] http://lubuntu.net/ [13:36] yeah i know it :P i mean a lightweith live cd (to put it in a 1GB mp3 player) [13:38] lubuntu 500MB vs Slax 200MB [13:42] it seem that the mini.iso is about 13M, so, you might want to try the minimal install --->> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/DocumentationHelp/MinimalInstall [13:44] i'll check it [13:45] ;) thx [15:24] this must a be a joke [15:24] file roller cannot extract .iso -files [15:25] ouch :( [15:25] I'm really about to purge lubuntu from my desktop [15:25] :O [15:26] ): [15:27] bioterror: whatever you decide..you're still my fwend. :P [15:29] bioterror: let gilir know, that's pretty much a show stopper problem. [15:29] yeah, and best thing is that pcmanfm only shows usb drives, but no sata and pata drives ":DDDDDDDDDDDD" [15:29] :O [15:29] gilir, wakeup! ;D [15:31] I have to navigate to /media everytime I want to access my inner drives [15:31] nice! good night! XD [15:31] yeah, sweet LXDE dreams, JoeMaverickSett ;) [15:31] lol [15:32] bioterror: i dream mostly GNOME+LXDE dreams. :P [15:32] :D [15:33] i think GNOME and LXDE don't like being used together =\ [15:33] hyperair: well in dreams you can. :D [15:33] lol! [15:33] XD [15:34] goog nightg! i'm gonnag dreaml myl LXDE+GNOME dreams! :D [15:47] hyperair, no, GNOME doesn't like to be used with any other DE ;) [15:49] bioterror, and extracting file from .iso just work for me [15:49] not for me [15:50] I tried "extract here" and Xarchiver [15:50] it's working with file-roller [15:51] works for me, too [15:52] Don’t work for me in Natty [15:52] Archive type not supported on natty [15:53] and maverick? [15:54] dunno about maverick [15:55] if it's under natty, and if you can reproduce it directly with file-roller , just report a bug [15:56] gilir: point taken. (see the miserable ol shell) [16:17] is here someone else using 11.04 and can confirm that he cant extract .iso files [16:20] Yup [16:21] bioterror, yes [16:21] Yorvyk, do you still ahve your password issue? [16:22] pip, no [16:22] also, sorry to be PITA could someone direct me to the full list of bugs please [16:22] ok, how did you fix that? [16:23] it fixed it’s self with an upgrade [16:23] hahaha [16:23] it's hard to report a bug [16:23] right, I'll take that cautiously [16:23] * bioterror cant find a link "report a bug" :D [16:24] sorry I thought I saw a link to a full list on friday in here. I'm probably mistaken though as i'm a clown [16:24] pip, https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/~lubuntu-packaging/+packagebugs [16:25] bioterror, I’m reporting it [16:25] thanks [16:25] Yorvyk, thanks mate [16:25] Yorvyk, do you have more than one hard drive in your computer? [16:25] yes [16:25] sata drives? [16:26] pata [16:26] does your pcmanfm see them? [16:26] yes [16:26] mine doesnt [16:26] I get only usb drives [16:27] they don’t show in the side pane I have to Go > My Computer [16:27] yeah [16:27] should show [16:31] is it a feature? [16:32] I call it a bug [16:33] The file-roller iso problem was fixed in dapper http://www.mail-archive.com/desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com/msg59566.html [16:33] nautilus and thunar shows on side panel [16:36] use "ubuntu-bug the_name_of_the_package" to report a bug [16:42] gilir, is the non appearance of other drives/partitions in the side pane a feature or a bug? [16:44] Yorvyk, it's a bug IMO, but I saw a fix for this in last changes of pcmanfm, which version do you use ? [16:44] 9.8 [16:44] 0.98 rather [16:44] on natty [16:45] Yorvyk, ok you can report it, I'll probably publish a newer version of pcmanfm in PPA to test if thoses issues are solved upstream [16:46] gilir, OK [16:53] haaa [16:54] worksin 10.10 that .iso [16:54] yep, works in ubuntu natty but Xarchiver fails in Lubuntu Natty [16:54] :D [16:55] Bug #689317 [16:55] Launchpad bug 689317 in file-roller (Ubuntu) "Archive type not supported when opening an iso" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/689317 [16:56] * Yorvyk Me thinks there’s a missing dedependencyf both file-roller and xarchiver fail [16:57] wait [16:57] this my laptop is 11.04 :D [16:58] and my desktop is 64bit [16:59] I'm missing 7zip from my desktop [17:03] Bug #689324 [17:03] Launchpad bug 689324 in pcmanfm (Ubuntu) "Auto mountable drives/partitions not displayed in side-pane" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/689324 [17:04] hi [17:05] hello leszek [17:05] hmmm [17:05] Yorvyk, is your system 64bit? [17:05] no [17:16] bioterror: I do recall that I had add it on, back in the distant past. I thought it had been sorted? [18:10] Yorvyk_, installed 7zip >> extracting iso :D [18:16] bioterror: raise it as bug for gilir hopefully it can added in for the a2 [18:18] bioterror, phillw I’ll add that to the bug report [18:30] hello guys [18:30] i wanna use sudo in a small script how can i do that ? [18:30] as in no need for the psw ?? [18:36] sudo su and run that script [19:33] I want to intall Ubuntu in one of my computers and I think the ONLY way I can boot the thing is via a USB flash disc. Does anyone know if there is a boot image I can install in the USB stick and where I might find instructions? [19:34] terr_: give me one moment :) [19:35] do you have ethernet link for the computer? [19:36] phillw: the computer has ethernet. I think windows is installed now but I'll be pulling that HDD. Only other way I know is if I put the HDD into a different computer then move it once ubuntu is installed. [19:39] terr_: have a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick#USB%20flash%20drive it's a little outdated, but does explain about making a usb boot disk. The easiest way to do it is to have the usb-creator program on a machine and the lubuntu iso also there :) [19:41] phillw: what is a USB creator program? I would typically just use DF and copy the boot image and MBR [19:41] terr_: sudo apt-get install usb-creator [19:42] phillw: won't work on this machine... its Debian Woody - way to old! LOL [19:43] it does not ship with lubuntu as we have to keep the size and resources usage down. [19:46] phillw: I just looked up USB-Creator... yup - this appears to be what I need. I'll read up and give it a go.
