aszpain2Let me reformule again: Imagine a .c program declares #include <gst/gst.h>, and you know that .h file is in gstreamer package, then u do: "apt-get install gstreamer-dev" , this copies .h file to /usr/include/packagename/gst/gst.h, and when u try to compile the .c file it doesnt work because the .h file must be in /usr/include/gst/gst.h not in /usr/include/packagename/gst/gst.h WHY?23:06

fleshpiketensorpudding : dont know how to solve it soo i thought about drivers23:50
aetaricbooting a thin-client ubuntu 10.04, it starts eth0 up, and then my cisco router(dhcp server) spews errors about malformed option 61. any ideas about how to solve?23:50
tensorpuddingfleshpike: if you had the problem in both, it's almost surely a hardware issue, not drivers23:50
tensorpuddingfleshpike: in which case, it might well be because the system is old23:50
vachotensorpudding: did that and logged out and then in .. still same issue.23:50
tensorpuddingvacho: but running "bash --noprofile" works?23:50
tensorpuddingvacho: are you sure that your shell is bash?23:51
fleshpiketensorpudding : when you mention old do you refer to much use?23:51
tensorpuddingvacho: before running bash --noprofile, tell me what you get when you do "echo $SHELL"23:51
vachotensorpudding: no im not.. im doign ssh23:51
tensorpuddingvacho: ssh just mediates a connection, it defers to the VPS user's shell for everything else23:52
vachoi get . /bin/sh23:52
tensorpuddingvacho: well that's why23:52
tensorpuddingvacho: sh doesn't support arrow keys23:52
vachotensorpudding: ok?23:52
fleshpikehello23:52
vachotensorpudding:  :)23:52
tensorpuddingvacho: run "chsh -s /bin/bash"23:52
tensorpuddingthen log out and in again23:52
fleshpiketensorpudding : the connection went down. do you read me?23:53
fleshpiketensorpudding : when you mention old do you mean to much use?23:53
tensorpuddingfleshpike: when i said old, it could well be that your memory has degraded and has errors, or that your video card is glitching23:53
tensorpuddingfleshpike: this is usually due to use, yes23:54
Thanos_b161hellon everyone23:54
tensorpuddingfleshpike: you can test the memory to figure out if that is the reason23:54
tensorpuddingfleshpike: using memtest86+23:54
vachotensorpudding: it works perfect now, care to explain what happened here?23:54
Thanos_b161ive got a little problem with alsa sound23:54
vachotensorpudding: 1000x thank you's23:54
fleshpiketensorpudding : what about the mother board agp port or the graphic card? can i test them to?23:55
tensorpuddingvacho: think of it this way23:55
tensorpuddingfleshpike: if you have a spare AGP video card that you know is functional, you can test it23:55
tensorpuddingfleshpike: if you use that card instead, and the problem persists, it's not the fault of your video card, otherwise it is the fault of the video card23:55
tensorpuddingvacho: when you run ssh, it basically does a login on the remote machine23:56
tensorpuddingvacho: the same as if you were at the console23:56
tensorpuddingvacho: which starts the default user shell23:56
fleshpiketensorpudding : thanks23:56
tensorpuddingvacho: for some reason, the default shell for users was set as /bin/sh, which is old and lacking in helpful features23:56
tensorpuddingvacho: in OSX, the default shell is bash, and the default shell for your admin was presumably bash also23:57
Thanos_b161my prob is that i can only hear sound from fron left and front right speakers but not from full 5.1 or optical23:57
C1iFFglx extension not working plz help! have tried lots of things but none work.23:57
tensorpuddingvacho: chsh -s /bin/bash set the default shell to bash23:57
vachook thanks23:57
vachow23:57
vachoit works perfect now thanks23:58
Thanos_b161does anyone have any idea23:58
tensorpuddingvacho: if you want to create other users, they will have sh by default still23:58
tensorpuddingvacho: you should probably fix this23:58
