dpmgood morning all08:14
gtriderxchi08:32
dpmhey gtriderxc :-)08:34
gtriderxconce again I'mm gonna need some help of Yours...09:04
gtriderxc   1. Ubuntu09:04
gtriderxc   2. Natty (11.04)09:04
gtriderxc   3. Translations09:04
gtriderxc   4. “gnome-power-manager” source package09:04
gtriderxc   5. Template “gnome-power-manager”09:04
gtriderxc   6. Polish (pl)09:04
gtriderxc%s waiting to charge09:04
gtriderxcCopy text 09:05
gtriderxc%s waiting to discharge09:05
dpmgtriderxc, it's easier for us (and for you :) if you send us a direct link to the string09:05
gtriderxcwaitin to DISCHARGE???09:05
gtriderxchttps://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+source/gnome-power-manager/+pots/gnome-power-manager/pl/+translate?show=untranslated09:05
gtriderxchow can one wait to discharge??09:05
gtriderxcain't it easier to say discharging or charging??09:06
gtriderxc2. "%s" - "larger than 12 hours remaining TRANSLATORS: the device is discharging "09:06
gtriderxcwhat do they gave us the information for??09:07
dpm1. I think it refers to a laptop battery or another device (e.g. wireless mouse). I'm not sure what the context is, but I believe the "waiting" might be needed there. I think there are the "discharging" and "charging" strings already09:07
gtriderxcdoes it mean i should put my own description there or just leave %s09:07
gtriderxc??09:07
dpm(btw, you can send direct URLs to translations using the link in the small magnifier icon to the left, e.g. https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+source/gnome-power-manager/+pots/gnome-power-manager/pl/400/+translate )09:08
gtriderxc:) how can one wait to discharge a bettery??:)09:08
gtriderxc*battery09:08
dpmI'm not sure, either, so the best thing might be to ask the gnome-power-manager developers. Or perhaps on the Ubuntu Polish translators lists someone knows more09:09
dpm2. You should just leave it as %s09:09
gtriderxcOK, i;m gonna find it out before translating09:09
gtriderxcok THX09:09
dpmthe comment just tells you that %s is going to be replaced by the translation of "discharging"09:10
dpmit simply gives you a bit of context09:10
dpmnp :-)09:10
gtriderxcthats how i got it but wasn't sure09:10
dpmgtriderxc, nice video you posted on the translators FB page :-)10:01
gtriderxcpretty useful10:01
dpmyeah, it was really cool10:02
gtriderxcespecially if You can see some of the apps which You translates10:02
gtriderxc*translate10:02
dpmhm, yeah, that's a good point10:04
gtriderxcI could see for example the element of Software Center I ask 3 days ago about10:05
gtriderxcI made an upgrade and have an old soft Cen10:05
dpmcool10:28
dpmtranslators: there is still time to get your maverick language pack updates tested and released:11:15
dpmhttps://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-translators/2010-December/004258.html11:15
TLEgo go go11:27
gtriderxcupdate in progress. that was the deeper sense of my yesterdays question on Videocast12:14
gtriderxctoo deep and too hidden:)12:16
andrejzdpm, you there?12:21
dpmhey andrejz, yes. Can I help with anything?12:22
andrejzyes. One of the users is complaining about some strings in Lucid 10.0412:23
andrejzHe is using language pack PPA12:23
andrejzand even thought the errors he mentions were fixed in august / september12:23
andrejzhe still sees them12:23
andrejzhis language pack version is   language-pack-sl               1:10.04+20101210               translation updates for language Slovenian12:23
andrejzit's a minor thing (poor spelling) but it's quite visible and also 10.04 is LTS and hence important to us12:24
dpmandrejz, could you give me more details? Do you know the particular string or the application/package it comes from?12:27
andrejzyes, both are gnome pakcages12:27
andrejzone is from gnome menu and the other gnome-applets12:27
andrejzThis is one of those strings - https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/gnome-applets/+pots/gnome-applets-2.0/sl/770/+translate12:28
dpmlet me see...12:29
andrejzThis is one more - https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/gnome-menus/+pots/gnome-menus/sl/50/+translate12:29
dpmandrejz, ah, unfortunately these might be strings that cannot be updated in language packs. Look at the "Located in ../desktop-directories/Settings-System.directory.in.h:1" line of the second URL. I believe .directory files are not supported by language packs, but I'd have to re-check. So there is no easy way to update that one other than patching the package. The first one, regarding the trash applet, I'm not sure. But I could think that the tras12:33
dpmh applet might also be special in a similar way12:33
dpmSo no easy way of updtating them, sorry :(12:33
andrejzok, no problem just wanted to check if it's a bug or something12:34
andrejzit's ok. we reached 99% for 10.10, so now we have a year and a half to check, recheck and then check again in fix all issues before next LTS12:35
andrejz:)12:36
gtriderxcAT LAST! IT WORKS! MY SOFTWARE CENTER SPEAKS POLISH!12:37
gtriderxc\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/12:37
gtriderxcafter 9 months:)12:37
yurchorJust of curiosity. Why networkmanager-cli is so high in the list of packages (first page)?12:38
andrejz@gtriderxc: congrats :)12:38
dpmgtriderxc, great, good work! :-)12:39
gtriderxcif I knew it works this way I'd test it better12:40
dpmyurchor, hm, let me have a look, I don't remember having put it there, but it might be because it's got Ubuntu modifications and it's quite visible?12:41
gtriderxcI mean with that proposed apdates12:41
gtriderxc*updates12:41
yurchordpm: More visible than GNOME-applet? ;)12:41
dpmgtriderxc, yeah, that's the nice thing about language packs12:41
dpmyurchor, I don't know, perhaps someone else put it there for a good reason. happyaron, have you been prioritizing templates in the imports queue recently? do you know about networkmanager-cli?12:43
dpmit's just a matter of setting the priority, if it does not belong to the first page, we can just give it a lower priority12:43
dpmthanks for the heads up yurchor12:43
yurchordpm: Thanks for your answer. Can I ask just one more question?12:44
happyarondpm: nope, I have not touched launchpad translations for roughly a month12:44
dpmthanks happyaron12:44
dpmyurchor, of course!12:44
dpmyurchor, btw, where do you see it in the first page? It's not on mine: https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+lang/ca12:45
yurchordpm: It's networkmanager itself (in fact CLI).12:46
dpmyurchor, networkmanager is the only template we've got, and it's on the second page https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+lang/ca/+index?start=50&batch=50 - where do you see this -cli template? can you give me the URL?12:48
dpmor do you mean that the 'networkmanager' template contains only CLI translations?12:48
yurchordpm: Yes.12:49
dpmok, gotcha12:49
dpmin that case, and if they are not shown in the UI in a visible way, we might want to put it further down the list12:49
dpmbut we should make sure that those translations are indeed not used in the UI12:49
dpmare you sure about that?12:50
yurchordpm: GNOME coordinator told me so.12:50
dpmyurchor, ok, great. Let me see where we should best put it...12:50
dpmdone12:52
yurchordpm: Thanks.12:53
dpmit's now in the region around 18. according to our priority guidelines: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/TemplatesPriority12:53
dpmyou're welcome, thanks for the heads up12:53
gtriderxccan the Polish translations be also added to the list if they are tested?? whom should I contact in such cases?12:53
andrejz@gtriderxc: add it to the wiki page12:54
dpmgtriderxc, you don't have to contact anyone. If you have tested them, you just add the feedback to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/LanguagePackUpdatesQA and they will be uploaded12:54
andrejzthat's the link i was looking for, dpm just beated me ;)12:55
yurchorI want to ask about KDE destktop-files. It seems that they are not exported for Natty. Delayed for KDE 4.6? Maybe something wrong export lists?12:55
gtriderxcshould I have some special permission to do that?? cause it seems that I'm unable to add anything12:56
andrejz@gtriderxc: you must sign in12:56
gtriderxcyes I am12:56
dpmgtriderxc, under the "Translations LanguagePackUpdatesQA" title on that page you should see an "Edit" link. Can you see it?12:58
gtriderxcok, now I see12:58
dpmcool, let us know if it works12:58
gtriderxcdone:)13:00
gtriderxcthank You 4 help13:01
dpmgtriderxc, great, thanks! That's the greatness of community. Just think that what you've just done with your translations and the test will bring new Polish translations to thousands of users13:02
dpmthat's just awesome13:02
gtriderxc:)13:03
dpmbtw, your earlier exclamation of joy has just been featured in the Ubuntu translators Facebook page ;)13:03
gtriderxc:-)13:03
dpmanyway, lunch time :)13:12
yantrashilpihello dpm: are you around? Need some tips.19:35
dpmhi yantrashilpi19:35
dpmhow can I help?19:36
yantrashilpihe got the email about the translation blog.19:36
dpmah, good :)19:36
yantrashilpiThe link seems to have converted into a reference number [2]19:36
yantrashilpiam I missing something?19:36
dpmyantrashilpi, I cannot check because I sent the e-mail through Launchpad's "Contact this user" feature (I could not find your e-mail), but the link in [2] was:19:37
dpmhttps://davidplanella.wordpress.com/2010/12/17/natty-translations-plans-ii-translations-training-sessions/19:37
yantrashilpidpm: ah great... now will you be publishing the translations on the same website or should I create one?19:38
dpmyantrashilpi, we've got two options:19:39
dpma) if you have a blog, you can publish a translation of the post and I'll update my post with a link to yours19:40
yantrashilpii definitely don't have one at the moment.19:41
dpmb) If you haven't, just send me the translation per e-mail and I'll write a new blog post in Kannada crediting you as the translator19:41
yantrashilpigreat. so I'll do taht for now.19:41
dpmfantastic :)19:41
dpmthanks a lot19:41
yantrashilpiI think there are a couple of active translators on the kannada team. I've finally gotten in touch with them.19:41
dpmoh, great19:42
yantrashilpiI'll try to have them review it as well.19:42
dpmawesome19:42
