mdeslaurfta: I thought he just got it to build...is it in the sound menu now?00:51
ftamdeslaur, hm, doesn't look like it01:23
mdeslaurfta: ok, I'll fix it01:32
mdeslaurfta: fixed rhythbox uploaded01:39
ftagreat01:40
ftamicahg, funny, i packaged bluegriffon like 2 years ago01:41
micahgfta: oh, cool :), do you think it would be good to have in Ubuntu?01:43
* micahg is just fixing the build system for xul2.0, not packaging bluegriffon01:43
ftamicahg, iirc, i never uploaded it, something with upstream, i don't remember01:43
ftadon't stop that guy if he's willing to do it ;)01:43
micahgI still would like to get songbird in the repos one day :-/01:44
micahgfta: no, I wanted to help, but had no time01:44
micahgbut my helper disappeared into the ethos01:44
ftadpm, hi, why is there green there: https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/chromium-browser/translations/+lang/eu   it's all supposed to be purple14:40
dpmhi fta, that's a change in Launchpad that was announced (and applied) yesterday. Purple is going away, as it was causing confusion:14:43
dpmhttps://lists.launchpad.net/launchpad-users/msg06183.html14:43
dpmand there is ongoing work on sharing upstream translations with ubuntu packages that might make this obsolete anyway14:43
ftahm, in my case, it's confusing. i guess i have to generate my own stats14:50
dpmfta, yeah, I can understand that in your particular case. I'd suggest asking danilo in #launchpad to see if there are any alternatives15:00
ftamdeslaur, hi, the rb is still missing in the sound indicator here15:18
fta-the15:19
mdeslaurfta: even after starting it once?15:19
ftamdeslaur, just rebooted15:19
ftamdeslaur, i used to start it from there15:19
mdeslaurfta: let me try rebooting15:20
ftayep, it appears when started manually15:20
mdeslaurhmm15:21
ftano more covers though15:21
mdeslaurfta: It appears in the menu for me after a reboot, but the cover art is missing15:30
mdeslaurfta: and I also have two banshees, and when playing something in banshee, it shows it as playing in rhythmbox, etc.15:30
ftamdeslaur, i fully upgraded, rebooted, it wasn't there15:30
mdeslaurfta: you need to start it once for it to appear15:30
ftayep, not a big deal for me, but it will probably confuse some users15:31
mdeslaurfta: I don't know how to fix it.15:32
mdeslaurfta: actually, I think that's on purpose15:36
mdeslaurso there's only one default media player, and in natty, it's banshee15:36
ftaoh, sad. they should detect which media player is the default in the gnome prefs15:37
mdeslaurfta: once you've started rhythmbox just once, it'll always appear, even after a reboot15:37
mdeslaurso it's no biggie15:37
ftaok15:38
ftagrrr, i can't use dconf and can't change anything with dconf-editor15:41
mdeslaurfta: yeah, that appears to be broken15:45
mdeslaurfta: try gsettings get com.canonical.indicators.sound interested-media-players15:45
mdeslaurfta: could you please confirm bug 69344515:51
ubot2Launchpad bug 693445 in d-conf (Ubuntu) "[natty] dconf-editor won't allow certain values to be modified (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/69344515:51
ftadone15:52
mdeslaurfta: thanks15:53
ftadpm, translation erros keep pilling up16:33
ftaerrors16:33
dpmfta, I'm wondering if you could send an e-mail to each particular team with the error report. If you know the language code of the translations with errors, figuring out the team's name should be relatively easy (lp-l10n-$LANGCODE) and you can get the e-mail through the LP api16:36
dpmif not, I'd send another heads up with the report to the launchpad-translators list16:36
ftadpm, i'll think about it. current situation is not ideal, it's not correlated to the translators workflow16:37
ftadpm, ideally, lp should have a way to tag a string as needing review *with* a reason16:38
ftadpm, all that using the api16:39
dpmfta, another option is what danilo was suggesting the other day: make the %{VARIABLES} use gettext-like syntax and you'd get syntax checking for free16:39
dpmfta, yeah, but there isn't a translations api yet :(16:39
dpmwell, just a partial one16:39
ftadpm, is there any plan for improving the api?16:40
ftadpm, if i change the %{}, that would mean zillions string changes16:41
dpmfta, there isn't any plan for the api, due to lack of resources in the LP team to work on that. There was some community work on implementing API for reporting: https://dev.launchpad.net/Translations/Specs/ReportingAPI - however, it's been on hold for a while now due to the guy working on it being busy with other projects16:43
dpmfta, yeah, I agree changing the strings would not be optimal, just pointing it out as an option16:46

micahgjdstrand: my chroots didn't work right and virtualbox doesn't like me at the moment21:51
jdstrandmicahg: ack21:54
micahgjdstrand: is it easy to mount shares with kvm and libvirt?21:54
* micahg doesn't want to clone qa-regression-tools in each vm21:55
micahg*testing21:55
micahgjdstrand: also, how much space does each image take?21:55
jdstrandmicahg: the VMs?22:05
micahgjdstrand: yes22:05
jdstrandmicahg: mine are 5G with 512M ram each22:06
jdstrandmicahg: I have 2 for each supported release (i386 and amd64 installs)22:06
micahgjdstrand: can they grow as need or is the space preallocated?22:06
micahgjdstrand: do I need to test both archs?22:06
jdstrandmicahg: I use qcow2 with snapshots and let them grow22:06
jdstrandmicahg: for seamonkey-- no22:06
jdstrandmicahg: for a supported package, yes22:07
jdstrandmicahg: while growable, they max at 5G22:07
micahgjdstrand: so, the max size is predetermined or is 5G it?22:08
jdstrandmicahg: it is however you set it up22:19
micahgjdstrand: ok, can you mount local dirs in the vms?22:19
jdstrandmicahg: I use https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/TestingEnvironment22:20
jdstrandmicahg: you can with samba, but I don't bother. I just use scp22:20
micahgjdstrand: ok, thanks, I guess I'll give this a try then22:21
jdstrandmicahg: most of the security team uses kvm/libvirt22:22
jdstrandmicahg: sbeattie uses virtualbox22:22
jdstrandmicahg: you might also like virt-manager if using kvm/libvirt22:23
* micahg has been using VirtualBox for years for Windows VMs22:23
jdstrandmicahg: mdeslaur and kees uses virt-manager22:23
jdstrandmicahg: well, I am not advocating change per se, but we do use virtualization for most if not all testing22:23
micahgwhich makes sense, also the overhead should be lower with kvm/libvirt I imagine22:24
