lamalexMorning ya'll13:02
nnnajigood afternoon ;)13:03
ionthat.13:07
coz_hey all13:13
htorquelamalex: hi, bug 693550 from yesterday is connected to bug 690461, so i guess its status is ok the way it is. :)13:16
ubot5Launchpad bug 693550 in unity (Ubuntu) "Unity panel and launcher show up on unlock screen (dup-of: 677705)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/69355013:16
ubot5Launchpad bug 677705 in unity (Ubuntu) "Unity appears on top of gnome-screensaver " [High,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/67770513:16
ubot5Launchpad bug 690461 in compiz (Ubuntu) "Menus in applications are hidden under the application" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/69046113:16
lamalexhtorque, ah ok13:17
lamalexcool13:17
vishlamalex: hey, can you update the gpm branch for the battery discharging bug? the one mterry rejected recently?13:17
vishlamalex: no rush, but reminding to add to your TODO ;)13:18
lamalexvish, yeah I'll try, I resubmitted but haven't heard back about what was wrong the second time13:19
vishcool..13:20
lamalexDoes anyone know what the default gsettings backend is, and how to tell?13:44
lamalexI would assume dconf..13:44
lamalexbut I'm not sure13:44
lamalexno it appears to be gconf13:45
lamalexwonder why13:45
akshatjlamalex, there is a service at startup that is used to migrate data from gconf to dconf13:49
akshatjso I assume it is dconf13:50
lamalexneither gconf-editor or dconf-editor look up to date13:50
lamalexwhat gives13:50
lamalexoh god. my ac adapter just stopped working.13:54
akshatj=-O13:56
htorquekenvandine: hello, would you know if custom indicators (not appindicators) are currently disabled for unity? it's showing up in the gnome-panel but not in unity's top panel.14:06
cyphermoxAmaranth, turns out the COMPIZ_PREFIX workaround actually works on buildds, or at least on my PPA.14:14
coz_ok breakfast time  ,, be back in a bit14:14
Amaranthcyphermox: Yay, it's my build system hero ;)14:14
cyphermoxAmaranth, I'll look at it again later to see if there is a cleaner way to do this, but for now it seems to work :)14:15
cyphermoxplus I managed to find a way to install manpages for unity with cmake :D14:15
cyphermox(I'm new to cmake)14:15
kenvandinehtorque, i don't think so14:18
kenvandinehtorque, but i am not as in touch with unity as i am the rest of the indicator stack14:18
cyphermoxhtorque, which indicator is this? I'm curious :)14:19
htorquekenvandine, thanks14:20
htorquecyphermox, right now it's just a copy of datetime ;) i'd like to copy the cpu indicator from the gnome-system-monitor applet - can't live without it :P14:21
cyphermoxah ok14:21
cyphermoxdatetime does show up here, but I'm not sure if that's relevant to what you were saying14:24
htorquecyphermox, yes it shows up here too, but i think there's a hardcoded list in which order they show up. before the integration of the window buttons it was like (custom, appmenu, ..., system) and it did show up back then but now it doesn't.14:29
htorquecyphermox, at least it shows up in the gnome-panel, so i can start working on it :) it's a good way to avoid meeting relati14:31
htorque*relatives over the holidays :P14:31
cyphermoxoh boy.14:37
cyphermoxhtorque, you got a point though, I recall reading about such a list. no idea where it is though . I'd suspect somewhere in gconf / gsettings14:38
kenvandinehtorque, actually i think it might be hard coded in the unity panel14:41
kenvandineso it loads the indicators it has defined14:41
kenvandinewhich includes the renderer for appindicators14:42
kenvandineso any appindicators show up14:42
htorquekenvandine, yes, it's in services/panel-service.c but the list hasn't changed. at least now i know where to look. :-)14:49
htorquekenvandine, do indicators need a reboot to show up? i just rebooted and my indicator shows up - plus, it's no longer on the left side (it was the first indicator in earlier versions) :-)15:02
lamalexhtorque, well the left side is a rediculous place for them so it makes sense it's not there now15:03
lamalexas for needed a reboot, sounds like a bug you should file15:03
htorquelamalex, thanks, will try to reproduce it and a file a bug then15:05
lamalexhtorque, that drop point mockup is nice15:07
htorquethanks :)15:08
htorquejust using already existing images ;)15:08
lamalexhtorque, did you try using the launcher icon itself but with dropped opacity, so it looks ghostly in place15:14
lamalexmight be neat15:14
OmegaYearThe AMA on reddit was quite informative.15:24
OmegaYearI was surprised to find it there :)15:24

nmarquesRAOF, I've ended fixing it without patching and adding some stuff to the build environment LDFLAGS :)17:04
nmarquesRAOF, thanks for pointing me way.17:05

APIhi, today I have updated Natty19:22
APIand now I can't login with gdm19:22
APIit seems that this is caused due a gnome-settings-daemon19:22
APIand I think that this is caused calling gtk_window_add_filter19:23
APII noticed that gtk was updated today19:23
APIhas anyone tested that?19:23
APIin which channel I should ask this?19:23
