damagednoobi have an audio cd that i can play in vlc on a mythtv installation. when i try and scan/import the cd inside the mythtv frontend, it doesn't find the cd. any ideas?09:10
chraistHi im using a hauppauge hvr-2200 card. I will use both the analog and dvb-t support on this card. Witch version is the best. 10.10 or the 10.04 lts? Anything better with the 10.10 release?12:14
chraistThinking of the 10.04 cause it's a LTS :/12:15
mrandchraist: Looks like you'll have to take a few (but easy) manual steps to get that card working on both 10.10 and 10.04: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware-nonfree/+bug/57978314:19
Zinn[bugs.launchpad.net] Bug #579783 in linux-firmware-nonfree (Ubuntu): “Hauppauge hvr-2200 firmware not included”14:19
mrand(I'm referring to the .deb that is attached to that ticket - just need to install that)14:20
mrandSo, the short answer is that I'd probably go with the latest version (10.10) in hopes that it includes a newer kernel with any possible bug fixes for that or any other device.  Also, you might do some searching - I don't know if analog support is complete on that card or not.14:24
patdk-wkI guess I should give my hvr-2250 a shot then, it's been on the shelf for the last year or so, since no analog drivers14:27
mrandpatdk-wk, chraist: looks like analog support may not be there yet: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-media/msg26406.html14:32
Zinn[www.spinics.net] Re: Hauppauge HVR-2200 analog -- Linux media14:32
mrandI believe 2.6.37 kernel is supposed to be in 11.04, so there *might* be driver support there for analog.14:35
chraistmrand: The analog is supported for linux. http://www.kernellabs.com/blog/?cat=3     I'll think i will go for the 10.10 version to test. thx.14:53

ZinnHi chraist, something I can help you with today?  I am a bot, use !help to see what I can do.14:53
tmktOla18:24
tmktLately...my myth box can't run more then a day without a full system lockup18:24
tmktanyone running into this?18:24
tmktusing 0.24 - this behaviour started about a month ago18:24
tmktversions of 0.24 previous to this were fine18:25
tgm4883tmkt, did you upgrade the mythbuntu version at the same time?18:26
tgm4883I haven't seen any issues like that with 0.2418:26
mrandI've seen some crashes, but no lockups.18:26
tmktyeah...have 10.0118:26
tmkt10.1018:26
tmktsorry18:26
tmktupdating everyday hoping that an update fixes it18:27
tgm4883tmkt, probably not an issue with mythtv then, likely an underlying OS issue18:27
tmktbut i was running 10.10 for a good month before with no issues18:27
tmktearly to mid december....lockups started18:27
tmkti had added a hvr-850 to the mix18:27
tmktbut removed that to see if that would help18:28
tmktand no go18:28
tmktasking here..before i download and format and reinstall18:29
rhpot1991smells like hardware18:29
mrandtmkt: hate to suggest it, but it might be memory or some other hardware problem that started up.18:29
rhpot1991lockup might be ram, I'd test that18:29
mrandjinks rhpot199118:29
rhpot1991heh18:29
tgm4883yep I agree18:30
tmktguess tonight i'll disable mythbackend/frontend18:30
tmktand see if it makes it through the night18:30
rhpot1991I wonder if I'm the only one who has been really confused by the keyboard logo thing on the latest ubuntu cd?18:30
rhpot1991booted up last night, said wait where is memtest18:30
tmktlongest uptime in the last month has been 4 hrs18:30
tgm4883entire system lockups aren't due to userland applications18:30
mrandtgm4883's right.   tmkt - you sure that the whole machine is locked up?  Can't ssh in?  Or switch to a different virtual screen (alt-f1 I believe)?18:31
tmktcan't ssh in18:31
tmktkeyboard status links blinking on/off18:32
rhpot1991blinking means crash IIRC18:32
tmkthardware crash?18:33
rhpot1991system18:33
tmktguess i can try the spare video card i have18:33
tmktand disable on board on18:33
tmktone18:33
tmktcan't find anything in the logs..guessing the crash happens before anything has a chance to write18:34
rhpot1991test the memory18:34
tmkton bootup..not getting any memory check errors18:34
mrandtmkt: with memtest86.  overnight preferrably18:35
mrandnot the bootup memory test18:35
rhpot1991I doubt you would18:35
rhpot1991you need to use it to find the issues normally18:35
tmktok..installing memtester right now18:35
rhpot1991tmkt: use an ubuntu iso, and use memtest from there18:35
rhpot1991may be on the mythbuntu iso too, I forget18:36
tmktcok18:36
tmkti'll give that a shot18:36
mrandI think most installs and live cd's have it18:36
tgm4883tmkt, blinking? thats a kernel crash18:36
rhpot1991if you have something bad you can start moving the dimms around to verify its a stick and not the motherboard18:36
tgm4883which IIRC isn't something mythtv can cause18:37
tmktyeah..blinking.18:37
rhpot1991tgm4883: keyboard led I think he is saying was blinking18:37
tgm4883rhpot1991, yep18:37
rhpot1991I've seen that once upon a time18:37
tgm4883it's a kernel panic18:38
tmktah yes...that memtest is in the menu before installing ubuntu18:39
rhpot1991tmkt: yep, on the newest one you have to hit something on the keyboard when the icon shows up, otherwise it goes right into install/try mode18:41
tmktwhat a pain18:46
tmktjust locked up again18:46
tmktjust glad i know it probably has nothing to do with the new tuner18:47
thopiekarhi19:02
thopiekarI got a problem using you distro.. maybe someone followed the discussion at #mythtv-users..19:03
thopiekarwhen pressing on a button e.g. the button "KEY_RIGHT" the mythfrontend is receiving on every button 2 actions..19:05
thopiekarthat means here that it gets 2 button pushes..19:05
thopiekarxbmc works well, doesn't have that problem there.,19:05
thopiekarirw also shows one feedback from the lirc socket for each button19:06
thopiekarcan you help me with that?19:06
thopiekarbtw. the .lircd/mythtv file which is linked to .mythtv/lircrc was created with mythbuntu-lircrc-generator19:07
rhpot1991thopiekar: what kind of remote?19:30
