highvoltagehi, any feedback on bug #683833?15:41
ubot2Launchpad bug 683833 in ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) "Unity should be in recommends, not depends for ubuntu-desktop (affects: 1) (heat: 96)" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/68383315:41
faganhighvoltage: I always thought the default interface was always in depends15:41
fagan(for ubuntu-desktop)15:42
highvoltagefagan: indeed, but that was when it just provided one interface15:43
faganhighvoltage: well its just a metapackage so it doesnt really matter too much if its installed or not15:44
faganother than upgrading from release to release that changes some apps around15:45
highvoltagefagan: it does, because edubuntu-desktop depends on it15:45
highvoltagefagan: and the alternative would be to maintain all of the pretty much in the edubuntu-desktop package, which would be kind of sucky in terms of maintenance15:46
faganhighvoltage: or you could do the edubuntu package as a minimal set of apps that edubuntu depends on and reccomend ubuntu-desktop15:47
faganor kubuntu-desktop...etc15:47
highvoltagefagan: that's how it works at the moment, except that ubuntu-desktop will install unity15:47
highvoltagefagan: which we just want to make optional in the installer15:48
faganhighvoltage: well its an option at login anyway for classic or unity15:48
highvoltagefagan: yes, but that's not the same, and not good enough15:49
faganhighvoltage: I dont think you get what i mean you could have the option for using which desktop environment in the installer and set that as the default for the login15:50
highvoltagefagan: I realise we can do that, it would just be ideal to match what we have in Maverick15:52
highvoltagefagan: and it's kind of pointless installing something that's bound to have updates that won't be used15:52
faganhighvoltage: hmmmm well after they pick which one they want to use you could hold back the other one in the installer but id say that would take a little more hacking15:53
* JackyAlcine is up and about; and missed school. O.O16:16
gesermterry: Hi, can you review/sponsor https://code.launchpad.net/~geser/ubuntu/natty/gssdp/gir1.2-transition/+merge/45601 and https://code.launchpad.net/~geser/ubuntu/natty/gupnp/gir1.2-transition/+merge/45602 when you've time?16:23
mterrygeser, looking16:26
mterrygeser, for gssdp, it would be better to file a sync request for 0.8.2-1 from Debian experimental I think.  That way we don't have a delta16:29
mterrygeser, same for gupnp actually?16:32
mterrybrb16:32
gesermissed to check in experimental16:32
rodrigo_heh, all sprinters connect at the same time :-)16:42
gesermterry: thanks for catching it, sync requests filed as bug #701095 and bug #701097 (awaiting sponsoring)16:49
ubot2Launchpad bug 701095 in gssdp (Ubuntu) "Sync gssdp 0.8.2-1 (main) from Debian experimental (main) (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Wishlist,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/70109516:49
ubot2Launchpad bug 701097 in gupnp (Ubuntu) "Sync gupnp 0.14.1-1 (main) from Debian experimental (main) (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Wishlist,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/70109716:49
mterrygeser, ok, will check those in a sec16:53

TheMusoseb128: Gary and Jason were telling me about a question you were asking, they thought it was something to do with dbus. Were you in fact enquiring about the version of at-spi that might be used?23:20
seb128TheMuso, yes, I was telling him that we need to decide on what version of at-spi we will using23:22
seb128TheMuso, quite some cruft just stay on the CD because of at-spi now23:22
seb128like libgnome2 or libbonoboui23:23
TheMusoseb128: Right, I think at this point there will be no change, unless at-spi2 improves a lot. I am going to test it some more this week after the latest tarball updates, and I will have a better idea then.23:23
seb128:-(23:23
TheMusoYeah I agree.23:23
seb128TheMuso, what are the issue with the new at-spi?23:23
TheMusoperformace.23:23
TheMusoperformance even.23:24
AmaranthTheMuso: because of dbus?23:24
seb128TheMuso, is anybody working on fixing those issues? is there any way to help the effort?23:24
TheMusoAmaranth: Yes. A few work-arounds have been added recently, like opening direct sockets for some communication, but I am not sure how far along that is. I also believe some code refactoring has been done, particularly in relation to the python bindings now wrapping C code to do a lot of the heavy lifting.23:25
Amaranthah, I don't think the python dbus binding really has performance in mind23:26
TheMusoTey are being addressed as far as I know. I can certainly enquire as to where help can be given to move things along.23:26
AmaranthIt's more of a "look at how cool python is" binding :)23:26
TheMusoAmaranth: Have you looked atht eocde...23:26
seb128TheMuso, that would be nice, thanks23:26
TheMusonp will do.23:26
AmaranthTheMuso: nope23:26
TheMusoah ok.23:27
seb128TheMuso, btw did you mean to update moustweak to the newest serie?23:27
TheMusoYes. Is there a problem?23:28
TheMusoThere are only translations.23:28
seb128TheMuso, we want to drop gtk3 from the CD23:28
seb128but the new version bring it in23:28
TheMusoOh right, I can look at pulling that out again.23:28
TheMusoo/c23:39
TheMusoseb128: Hrm ok this is going to be difficult... Mousetweaks only uses GTK3 now. I will have to role it back to the latest version that uses GTK 2.23:39
seb128TheMuso, right...23:40
seb128don't use an epoch though, just tweak the version23:40
TheMusoYep thats what I was thinking.23:40
seb128sorry about the trouble23:41
TheMusoNo problem.23:41
