I need to split into 10 Files of 20M each in zip format [04:12] I did split -d -b20m dndList10012011.zip dndList10012011.zip. [04:12] file dndList10012011.zip.00 [04:13] dndList10012011.zip.00: Zip archive data, at least v2.0 to extract [04:13] unzip dndList10012011.zip.00 [04:13] unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of dndList10012011.zip.00 or dndList10012011.zip.00.zip, and cannot find dndList10012011.zip.00.ZIP, period. [04:13] Please suggest [05:29] kaushal: Zip files cannot be split like that [05:30] You need to split the file inside it, then zip (or better still, bzip2 or 7zip) each of the components separately, then send them to where they need to go, then unzip them, then combine them again. [05:31] It sounds like you're trying to do something via email that would be better done via another mechanism, such as sticking it on a DVD and dropping it in the post. :-) [05:32] ok [05:41] blahdeblah: Thanks [05:42] kaushal: No worries [05:42] blahdeblah: 7zip is better ? [05:42] 7zip compresses more [05:42] "better" is a rather vague term [05:42] can it be opened in windows OS ? [05:42] yes [05:42] what would be the syntax ? [05:42] don't know [05:43] I only know that 7zip is available on both Linux & Windows [05:43] ok [05:43] google is your friend [05:45] blahdeblah: :) [06:08] not so long ago australie had severe droughts! [06:13] Really? I hadn't noticed. === quail_linux is now known as quail [06:50] elky: You haven't been watching! :-P We had drought in Qld for 5 years prior to the summer of 2008/2009.
