[02:32] kim0 do you do videocasts like Daniel and Jono? if so what't the link to them /me is working on uwn [02:41] akgraner: We had some confusion 2 weeks ago. We found some links to weekly IRC meetings, but didn't see any videocasts [02:41] yep they don't happen every week [02:42] so you just have to look back to see the weeks they were included and use those formats - sometimes the summary formats change based on the podcast/videocast [02:43] I just added Daniels - but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing kim0 if he did one last week [02:43] ahh dpm is doing them too - let me find his as well and add it [03:45] akgraner: topic [03:45] akgraner: wait, I'm late. Well, I put the links in the topic [03:49] nigelb, yep I have those - I added them to the "featured podcasts/videocasts - just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing kim0's if he had one :-) [03:49] :) === JanC_ is now known as JanC [07:40] akgraner: Hi Amber .. I'm not doing ustreams like daniel (David is), I'm doing screencasts at http://www.youtube.com/ubuntucloud [07:40] hey kim0 [07:40] enjoying jet lag? :) [07:41] nigelb: hey o/ [07:41] yeah I'm destroyed this morning :) [07:42] heh [07:42] g28 [08:41] good morning [08:57] dholbach: morning man [08:57] hey kim0 [08:58] * kim0 is sleepy :) [08:58] * dholbach too [09:31] hola randa [09:32] hi dholbach! how was your BD [09:33] randa, very nice - I got back home at 8 in the morning and my sister and brother had already set up a breakfast table with cake and everything - it was really nice [09:34] awww dholbach :) [09:34] randa, and when I went out for dinner last night, we went to a place where I go quite often, the owner gave me a huge box of Arabic sweets there and the dinner was free too [09:35] really??? wow! that doesn't happen in London dholbach [09:36] my sister and I know the owner quite well in the meantime :) [09:36] I see :) [09:38] kim0 thanks! [13:17] daker: did you read the comment: "I'd rather wear glasses than looking like a retard" lol [13:41] funny ツ [15:51] morning all! [15:51] kim0, dholbach I would like to recommend we cancel our calls today - as we just got back [15:51] unless you want to discuss anything specific [15:52] jono: agreed [15:52] I'd be yawning like hell too :) [15:52] kim0: haha, go sleep :p [15:52] hehe [15:52] kim0, haha [15:52] safe flight back? [15:53] well take some swap days off work [15:53] * kim0 hugs jono [15:54] * jono hugs kim0 :-) [15:54] the rally was great though [15:55] kim0, glad you enjoyed it - I think it was a great week :-) [15:56] Any spam exeprts around .. I'm getting tons of comments on the cloud portal saying things like [15:56] "Great thoughts - thanks for sharing. It is nice to come across quality sites that get to the point. [15:56] Frankly I'm not sure whether or not that's spam .. it's generic enough to be spam [15:57] but what is the guy pushing! [15:57] kim0: is it a wordpress install? [15:57] Yes [15:57] install askimet. Its totally worth it. And yes, that is spam I believe [15:58] * kim0 goes crying to IS [15:58] nigelb: I'd have to get an "API key" right ? is that free ? [15:58] kim0: check the link for the commentor. Those kind of posts, the links are generally into spam [15:58] kim0: Yeah, since it isn't a personal website, you'd have to. [15:58] nigelb: like his website ? [15:59] yeah [15:59] sigh .. it's nice having those comments though :) [15:59] very encouraging hehe [15:59] Also, popey would be able to give you more authoritative opinion :) [15:59] huh? [16:00] popey: spam on wordpress install, like "Great thoughts - thanks for sharing. It is nice to come across quality sites that get to the point." [16:00] i spot those a mile off and delete them [16:00] akismet [16:01] popey: Thanks [16:01] nigelb: thanks [16:01] kim0: np :) [16:04] Yep, we get those on the Fridge all of the time. I usually look at the URL and email address (as they are usually very clear give-aways) [16:13] hey morning jono [16:13] kim0, it's not a spam ツ [16:14] daker: :) [16:14] that man is on the cloud forum http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1663254 [16:14] kim0, raymdt [16:14] daker: what about him [16:15] that man is the one who posted the comment on the cloud portal [16:16] daker: It's not just one [16:16] jono, WFM [16:17] kim0, and why comment are enabled on all the posts ? [16:18] it's supposed to be just for "Screencasts" posts [16:21] kim0, if we got spams that's mean we are on the right way :D [16:24] daker: coz the site is all about community .. [16:24] daker: they are supposed to be able to leave comments [16:25] kim0, and who's going to reply ? [16:30] daker: anyone who reads the article man! [16:31] I'm looking for a "I want you" uncle-Sam type picture, with Ubuntu logo on the hat! [16:33] Anyone with Gimp skills, interested to hack that .. ping me [18:09] alright my friends - I call it a day - see you tomorrow! [18:58] now time for me to call it a day. See you all tomorrow! [20:20] dinda, around? [20:22] czajkowski: People from the Dutch community reacted to the disapproval of Ubuntu NL by composing a declaration that in its first version asked who the heck you think you are to approve or disapprove of Ubuntu NL. :P Not everyone was happy with the result of the vote. [20:22] most weren't [20:24] I'm using the occasion to educate people about the way our community works. [20:24] (The declaration was supposed to be sent to the LoCo Council.) [20:25] sense: you also know there are 6 of us, not just me :) and if they don't know who the loco council are, they may need to understand how the community works, which is another sign the team doesnt operate well. [20:26] sense: good luck [20:26] czajkowski: A lot of people showed they have no much interest in the international community, they're happy with the forums as they are now, and said that we don't need some group to come and approve us. [20:26] sense: can I PM you? [20:26] czajkowski: I know there are six, but you are my favourite target! [20:26] Pendulum: fine [20:27] sense: I dont like being a target thanks ;( I'll happily help anyone but there are 6 of us [20:27] jono: i'm aqround [20:28] and we are here to help, Ubuntu is an international community. with that comes an large community and in some cases a way to do things. I am sorry your team doesnt want to know more [20:28] czajkowski: I'll try to spread my questions around a bit next time. I just wanted to share the reaction with you, so you know how communities can look at this process. [20:28] different communities [20:28] I'm not fond of ignorance-lovers either. [20:29] sense: tbh, the majority of teams like it, the ones who don't seem to be the ones who've been unapproved which is slighly unfortunate. [20:29] So rather than work to get it fixed, many focus on the not being approved bit [20:30] The whole approval thing has continually met with a lot of indifference since the beginning of your probes. [20:31] sense: the flip side of course, if a team doesnt want to be approved that's fine. can't force people to either. [20:34] yeah [20:34] But I think the indifferent people are contributing too little to be very influential on our policy. [20:35] sense: I guess you have to let them have their say, and someone needs to then come up with the final outcome and if it can be voted on or decided great [20:37] czajkowski: I am angry at what seems to have happened at the meeting last Sunday. Apparently they all started over again and came up with their own basic organisational proposal, instead of discussing the one we've been discussing online since 1 December. Most of the people present were community skeptics, so their proposal is again shutting the community our. [20:37] out [20:37] So we're nothing further yet. [20:38] :s [20:39] That meeting was supposed to start the implementation. [20:39] Typically they ignored the plans and started all over again. [20:39] A classic example of why we are such an indecisive LoCo. [20:40] I had to concentrate on my studies, but first needed a fourty minutes walk outdoors to calm down after I heard it. [20:41] sense: look, your education comes first LoCo then ok [20:41] yes [20:41] if its meant to be it'll work out ok [20:42] That's why I didn't go to the meeting, while I actually should have gone to control it. :P [20:42] My mind is sometimes just so terribly busy, but that's a flaw I'm aware of. [20:46] dinda, hey [20:46] so I am concious we don't lose track of how we figure out how to get the manual on d.u.c [20:46] so I am registering a bug and I will assign it to you as the manual lead, and then we can have the discussion there [20:49] sense: this is why I like to see one chair one who always does it, but that's just me [20:49] I am in favour of clear leadership, but I do think that you need extra brainpower to help you. [20:49] czajkowski: By the way, did you have time to write a reply to my mail? [20:49] sense: if WE ( the 6 of us) can help let us know. but sometimes either the team needs to resolve it themselves if there is that much oposition, or we step in like we have done in the past say with California and that team is doing really well [20:50] sense: last week I was at a conference for 3 days and I'm off sick atm from work [20:50] California is now doing pretty well and that was a long few months but it's working out really well thanks to the newly elected leaders. [20:51] OK, I understand the hint. ;) I'll wait for the results of Sunday's meeting to float to the surface, and I'll send the LoCo COUNCIL a mail with a request for advice when things are more clear. [20:51] czajkowski: Become better soon! [20:52] I'd like my voice back, having conference calls sounding like this is rather hard [20:53] Having a voice is very convenient. [21:05] I'm going offline now, see you all! [21:30] jono; ok on the bug - still not sure what you mean by 'the links must never break." [21:31] dinda, yeah, I saw you send me a mail about that [21:31] why don't we schedule a call for tomorrow to discuss? [21:31] jono: ok [21:32] dinda, when would be a good time for you? [21:33] jono: you back in your home timezone? [21:33] dinda, yup [21:33] tomorrow afternoon work? [21:33] jono: any time afternoon is good [21:34] dinda, 1pm Pacific? [21:34] jono: perfect [21:34] dinda, thanks! [21:34] invite sent [22:23] jono - Mo's Bacon Bar for the win! Apple-wood smoked Bacon inside of a chocolate bar add that to your list of bacon items you need to try before you die :-P [22:26] Mat revell makes my life a lot simplier [22:36] akgraner, mmmmm [22:38] oh jesus akgraner [22:42] akgraner: I think I saw that in Whole Foods [22:43] paultag, I know great stuff right... I'm bringing some to SCaLE...this is a must try..just saying [22:44] Pendulum, I got this at World Market... but it sounds like something Whole Foods would carry [22:44] I saw some sort of chocolate covered bacon [22:44] * czajkowski wants taffey [22:45] * AlanBell is in Belgium and has chocolate, beer and waffles [22:45] Bacon is the sole reason I fail at being a vegetarian. [22:46] haha [22:46] AlanBell, show off!!! :-P I found Belgium cherry beer here yesterday - heaven! [22:46] yum, kreik lambic :d [22:46] kriek too [22:46] pleia2, yeppers [22:46] akgraner: don't worry I am not having a great time, just sitting in a hotel room with it all [22:47] 2 weeks to Brussels :D [22:47] although to be fair, now sitting here with somewhat less of it than there used to be [22:47] akgraner: you could socialise with the other people on your course [22:47] and 4 days of CHeery and banana beer [22:47] :( [22:47] gah [22:47] AlanBell: ^^ [22:48] we are all scattered about and I haven't really had a chance to talk to them all yet [22:48] AlanBell, I read that heard George Thorogood singing "I drink alone" in my head- that is scary [22:49] actually I hardly ever drink so I am not bothered about drinking alone from time to time [22:49] popey: why the :( [22:50] I am never bothered by drinking alone - some my my best friends have perfected this art.. [22:51] meh I travel on my own too much to care, plus I always end up chatting to random strangers and having good chats [22:52] anyhow, not alone, been chatting on IRC all evening [22:58] czajkowski: not going to fosdem [22:59] and! [22:59] I thought I had an old adsl modem kicking around the place, but I seem to not have [22:59] dunno if I put it in the loft or binned it [23:00] popey: I'll bring you back some chocolate :D [23:00] heh [23:00] so need to nab my boss this week and sit down and write my flipping talk [23:02] by nab I do mean tie down
