jschallbug 384920 is almost 2 years old... it affects me, and I'm hoping to find a good workaround or to provide someone with the information necessary to fix it. It's causing my wireless to connect at 8M when it should be connecting at 54M. I have a broadcom bcm431303:30
ubot2Launchpad bug 384920 in wireless-tools (Fedora) (and 1 other project) "iwconfig bitrate is not set properly (affects: 4) (heat: 25)" [Unknown,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/38492003:31
jschallbug 1 sucks too03:31
ubot2Launchpad bug 1 in tilix (and 20 other projects) "Microsoft has a majority market share (affects: 614) (heat: 2979)" [High,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/103:31
drew2121jschall: looking into it, but i cant promise anything03:35
jschalldrew2121: thanks, willing to offer any information necessary03:36
drew2121jschall: have you tried the fixes in the description?03:37
jschalldrew2121: look like temporary fixes03:38
drew2121jschall: that worked?03:38
jschalldrew2121: well, i can set it to 54M03:38
drew2121iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M fixed is a nother config you may wayt to set03:39
jschalldrew2121: but won't it revert if it reconnects?03:39
jschallor if the computer is suspended or shut down or whatever?03:39
jschalli'll try it for sure03:39
drew2121jschall: yes, thats why you either need to change your /etc/rc.local or run that command03:40
jschalldrew2121: set rate 54m fixed, rebooting to see what it comes up as03:40
drew2121jschall: see you in a few =)03:41
jschalldrew2121: it's a laptop :)03:41
jschalldrew2121: and this is a desktop03:41
drew2121jschall: ahh, well let me know what happens03:41
jschalldrew finished booting just now, waiting for it to connect03:41
jschalldrew2121: back to 8M03:42
drew2121hrm...03:42
jschalldrew2121: adding the lines to rc.local will run it when the machine boots, but not when i change SSIDs or suspend. i'll try it here, though.03:43
jschalldrew2121: restarting again03:44
drew2121jschall: true, i don't debug wireless but i can still help, and maybe get the status to triaged03:44
jschalldrew2121: came up as 54M03:45
drew2121jschall: how about after a sleep?03:45
jschalldrew2121: 54M after reconnect03:46
drew2121jschall: all working now then?03:46
jschalldrew2121: 54M after resume03:47
drew2121jschall: nice03:47
jschalldrew2121: i guess that workaround fixes it03:47
jschalldrew2121: isn't wifi supposed to automatically scale based on how bad a signal it has though?03:47
drew2121jschall: i'm not sure... i'm not a wireless expert =P03:48
jschalldrew2121: anyway, now it'd be nice if i could get 300M... that's the next step03:48
jschalldrew2121: apparently 802.11n doesn't work with these drivers03:48
jschalldrew2121: hate broadcom.03:48
drew2121jschall: what drivers are you using? proprietary?03:48
jschalldrew2121: yeah03:48
drew2121jschall:  broadcom FTL03:49
jschalldrew2121: i don't really NEED 300M, but the netbook doesn't have gigabit on it so it'd be nice to get more speed than the 100Mbps ethernet can provide.03:49
jschalldrew2121: on data transfers03:49
drew2121jschall: yeah03:50
jschalldrew2121: also soon i'll likely have 50mbps cable, and i don't trust 54mbps wifi to provide that properly.03:51
jschalldrew2121: i guess i don't need it to on my netbook though.03:51
drew2121i'm pretty sure ethernet has always been faster for me than wireless03:52
drew2121jschall: i'm not sure if i have gigabit or not though03:52
jschalldrew2121: i just moved out of my parents' house into an apartment and bought gigabit everything.03:53
drew2121and im running G03:53
jschalldrew2121: it's nice.03:53
jschalldrew2121: transfer files between computers at hard drive's speed03:54
drew2121jschall: i'm pretty comfy with the setup i have now, once i get a job i'll probably buy better stuff...03:54
drew2121jschall: yeah, that would fantastic... i've transfered stuff that took me an hour or two to get across03:55
rusiviRegarding https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/344588 please reinstate wine (ubuntu) back to triage as this has been worked on upstream. As well, I have & will continue to refrain from toggling the status of triaged bugs.08:31

tykjepelkenCould any one answer a question regarding translation bugs in launchpad?10:57

ubot2A large amount of the first questions asked in this channel start with "Does anyone/anybody..."  Why not ask your next question (the real one) and find out?11:17

tykjepelkenOf course11:20
tykjepelkenAn error showed up in a file during import of language packs of Firefox, creating a bug report. This bug was a typo in a translation in a file, easily fixed. Do I now need to make a diff or anything describing the changes, or will a simple upload of the fixed file do?11:27
tykjepelken... Marking it as a patch?11:27

trinikrono:D18:34
charlie-tcaThere are many of us here. If I don't catch them, some one will. Besides, if you comment and change the status to confirmed, you get credit even if it doesn't get to triaged today18:35
trinikronomicahg: so just check the package in rmadison19:27
micahgtrinikrono: there's already a WNPP bug19:27
micahgalso, just verify that it says is needed on wiki is present in the description19:27
micahgand yes, you can check to see if it's in Ubuntu with rmadison19:28
trinikronoso this bug  is ready to be triaged?19:29

trinikronoerm19:38
trinikronomicahg: when to put in the bug reportt19:38
trinikronoit says bsnes isnt in launchpad19:38
trinikronomaybe i am just confusing myself19:38
micahgtrinikrono: also affect Debian w/o a package19:38
trinikronoso affects distro?19:39
micahgtrinikrono: yep19:39
trinikronomicahg: okie so it is good to go now?19:41
micahgtrinikrono: I don't think it's the same person that filed the ITP and the LP bug19:42
trinikronothats true19:43
micahgtrinikrono: done19:43

trinikronoi have about 7 i was subscribed too19:45
micahgtrinikrono: thanks19:45
trinikrononow that i know what to do19:45

trinikronothis bug 60177819:56
ubot2Launchpad bug 601778 in ubuntu "[needs-packaging] 3Proxy - tiny free cross-platform proxy server (affects: 1) (heat: 16)" [Wishlist,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/60177819:56
trinikronoit has all of these things in the description19:56
trinikronobut in the wiki it says to add a rfp ignore that?19:56
micahgtrinikrono: well, I was told they're ignored for the most part19:57
trinikronoso you are happy that it can be set to triaged?19:57
trinikronoso make a rfp anyways19:57
trinikronoor19:57
micahgI'm happy without it19:58
trinikronowell once you are happy you will set it too triaged then?19:59
trinikronocan someone set bug 601778 to triaged for me please20:21

charlie-tcatrinikrono: packaging bug?  Note 2: Never set these bugs to 'Confirmed', unless you are working with a package maintainer, and have been asked to do so.20:22
trinikronoits not confirmed20:23
trinikronocharlie-tca: ?20:23
charlie-tcatriaged means confirmed. Please have the maintainer/developer you are working with on it set it20:23
trinikronoright before thenotes20:25
trinikronoit says to set to triaged and put need-packaging tag20:25
trinikronoand micahg just triaged the other one20:25
trinikronobug 62218520:26
charlie-tcamicahg is a developer20:26
ubot2Launchpad bug 622185 in debian (and 1 other project) "[needs-packaging] bsnes (affects: 2) (heat: 16)" [Unknown,Unknown] https://launchpad.net/bugs/62218520:26
micahgcharlie-tca: no, I added a section, where something can be 'Triaged' for a needs packaging bug, it means that all the information needed is present20:26
micahgconfirmed is a problem since that means ready for upload20:26
charlie-tcaOkay. I still don't know enough about them to do it20:27
trinikronoo.o20:27
yofelcan't we use a tag for 'ready-to-upload' ?20:27
micahgyofel: no, it's workflow20:28
yofel:S20:28
trinikronomicahg: so can i get my bug triaged :D20:29
micahgtrinikrono: I actually asked some people what we should do about the RFPs, if I'm right, we need to update the wiki, if I'm wrong, you need to file one :)20:30
trinikronolol20:30
trinikronoill go find another packaging bug then20:30
* micahg wants to hug pidgin20:36
charlie-tcathursday, micahg20:42
charlie-tcastart early, if you want to...20:42
micahgcharlie-tca: yep, just saw itr20:42
micahg*it20:42
charlie-tcahm, my email client went nuts! I don't know how bad I spammed the bugday message now.20:46
micahgcharlie-tca: I only got 2 so far20:48
yofelI got 2 too20:48
charlie-tcaI will keep my fingers crossed; I showed about 8, but some seem to have failed to go out20:48
* charlie-tca trusts micahg fully on packaging bugs, he just doesn't know packaging very good himself.20:53
trinikronohey if a reporter wants a package updated21:42
trinikronoshould he file a report against the package he wants updated21:42
trinikronoor what?21:43
micahgtrinikrono: yes, and tag it upgrade21:43
trinikrono:D21:43
trinikronocan you put that in the wiki somewhere21:43
micahgtrinikrono: if the version's already in Debian, a sync can be requested21:43
micahg!tags | trinikrono21:43
ubot2trinikrono: We use some common tags for tracking bugs on Launchpad.net See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Tags for common usage.21:43
trinikronoi meant the procedure21:44
trinikronobut if its not in debian21:44
micahgtrinikrono: feel free to add something21:44
trinikronodid they say if too file in debian?21:46
micahgtrinikrono: I've done it in the past, generally, take a look at the PTS and see if the version's listed, if it is, I don't think you need to file a bug, the problem is, only some DDs are uploading now since Debian's in deep freeze21:47
trinikronoaha21:48
trinikronocan you look at bug 699788 i just closed it because it asked for a upgrade of the package and i want to makesure i am doing the right thing21:49
ubot2Launchpad bug 699788 in ubuntu "[needs-packaging] QMidiArp (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Wishlist,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/69978821:49
micahgtrinikrono: no, don't close, reassign and make sure it's still needed21:50
trinikronook21:51
trinikronobut if it is tagged upgrgade should the status be wishlist21:52
trinikronoor low?21:52
micahgtrinikrono: wishlist unless something is broke21:52
trinikronobut the status should be triaged or new?21:53
micahgtrinikrono: new21:53
trinikrono:D21:53
micahgerr, doesn't matter, it's just a request21:53
trinikronoright21:56
trinikronoso does it look good now?21:56
yofelnote: wishlist is an importance, not a status21:56
trinikronoyes21:57
yofelok, I just saw a lot of misunderstandings in the past from mixing that21:58
trinikronoicant set importance anyways :D21:59
trinikronoso i can leave this bug alone now, i assinged to the package and set it too new and changed the name22:01
trinikronoand put the upgrade tag22:01
yofelmicahg: that can be set triaged, can it? - or do update requests also fall under developer process bugs?22:05
micahgyofel: I think developer process and there's no point in marking it triaged22:05
trinikronothis needs to go in the wiki22:06
trinikrono:D22:06
trinikronohttp://paste.ubuntu.com/555565/ what do you guys  think22:10
micahgtrinikrono: I would say title should be 'Please update foo to version bar', also idk about other info22:14
trinikronolol22:15
trinikronomaybe this is a motu thing22:15
* micahg is a MOTU :)22:19
trinikronolol22:19
trinikronowhat about the other ones22:20
trinikronoif the package is not in debian22:20
trinikronodoes it need the rtp22:20
micahgrfp?22:21
trinikronoyes that22:21
trinikronothis is all very new to me22:21
micahgtrinikrono: idk, I'll try to get an answer22:22
bencahillis it ok to discuss a possible bug in here?22:33
yofelbencahill: fire away22:35
bencahillyofel: ok, great :) I'm waiting on someone in #u to confirm, but I'm pretty sure it's not something specific to me. see below:22:35
bencahillso you start with no windows open...then open two (let's say terminal) windows...then click the 'show desktop' button (or press mod4 + d), they both minimize. Then if you restore one window by click on it on the bottom panel, and click 'show desktop' or mod4+d, the other window re-appears. I do not believe this is the intended behavior. I would think that whenever there are any windows open, the show desktop function should show the desktop22:35
bencahillconfirmed by nothingspecial in #u22:36
yofelhm, I don't use gnome myself so I'm not sure how they want it, I wouldn't expect that behaviour either though22:42
yofeldoes anyone know what package that would be?22:44
trinikronomicahg: check you later!22:52
trinikronolater guys o/22:52
bencahillyofel: perhaps gnome-desktop-environment ?22:53
yofelnope, that's a meta package, I thought gnome-applets for a moment, but that doesn't seem to be it22:55
yofelsomeone else will have to help you there22:55
bencahillyofel: yeah, because it is not just with the applets, but with the mod4 + d shortcut, so whatever function (or whatever) that calls...23:34
yofelmaybe metacity or compiz - I don't know how show desktop works in gnome23:35
