apwmjg59, i have wondered why we don't have synthetic ones for cpu types09:02
apwsmb, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+patches09:28
ilmarithe drm-intel-next kernel packages havent been built since the 13th09:45
ckingapw, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Reference/S309:52
apwilmari, oddness10:00
apwilmari, hrrm something very odd there, just triggered it now and it is building10:02
ilmariapw: thanks10:03
* ilmari needs to test a recent change for LP#68074810:05
apwbug #68074810:05
ubot2Launchpad bug 680748 in xserver-xorg-video-intel "[arrandale] flicker on LVDS laptop display with stripy patterns" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/68074810:05
ilmariapw: how long does the build usually take?11:32
apw2-3 hours, but i think it was queued second11:35
apwBisecting: 1999 revisions left to test after this (roughly 11 steps)11:35
apwBisecting: 1999 revisions left to test after this (roughly 11 steps)11:35
apwsigh11:35
amitklol11:39
* apw blames amitk .... its suspend that is bust after all11:39
* amitk doesn't care about suspend or hibernate...11:40
amitk... yet!11:40
amitkapw: blame manjo 11:40
ilmariapw: okay, I'll check the directory this afternoon (GMT)11:42
apwilmari, yep, its still building the mainline tip of the day, drm-intel-next is next11:42
apwamitk, always :)11:42
mjg59apw: Because system devices can't have modaliases12:13
mjg59apw: Limitation of the driver core - someone's meant to be fixing it12:13
apwmjg59, fair enough12:15
* apw struggles on with bisecting an amd64/i915 suspend hang ... 11 more to go12:16

arahey guys!15:41
arahow are you doing?15:41
arado we know when we are getting the new maverick -proposed kernel in the -proposed archive?15:41
tgardnersconklin,  ^^15:50
sconklinara: pitti just copied it moments ago. The version you want is 2.6.35-25.4415:51
tgardnercking, AceLan_: bouncing tangerine for security update soon.15:57
arasconklin, yes, I saw that, thanks!15:59
ckingtgardner, ok 16:02
apwsconklin, how did you not go mad doing bisects16:08
JFoneed coffee, brb16:08
sconklinapw it's not bad at all when you have fast builds on tangerine, and a couple of testers who get you results in 10 mins or less. I did 7 or 8 build/test cycles in a day and got a final result!16:08
tgardnerapw, Linus' tip has the doc build failure fixed.16:09
apwsconklin, mine started about 'about 12'16:10
apwtgardner, excellent will suck it up shortly16:10
tgardnerapw, we'll need it to procude an -rc2 based kernel16:11
tgardnerproduce*16:11
sconklinugh. Mine started at about 8. I could have probably cut two off of that my guessing at a range of commits, but it wasn't worth the uncertainty16:11
apwtgardner, yep16:13
apwtgardner, is tangerine bouncing now ?16:14
tgardnerapw, yep, it takes a bit16:14
apwtgardner, didn't want to start bisect 6 without waiting for the bounce16:14
tgardnerapw, I didn't realize you were in the middle of something. I could have waited. 16:15
apwtgardner, nope not at all, it'll take all day at an hour a spin16:15
apwjust wanted to make sure you'd done it before i started a build16:15
tgardnerapw, besides some security updates, the armel chroot was hung and I couldn't get it to bail out.16:16
tgardnerapw, tangerine is back16:16
apwtgardner, yep, utterly reasonable to bounce it ... didn't want to interfere16:17
apwhas held me up by exactly 25s16:17
apwi think i can live with that16:17
ckingreally?16:17

bjfapw, that's all i know about17:36
apwbjf, i thin the first one was the one i wanted, ta17:37
JFoah yes, the first one17:37
JFosorry I was no help there apw :)17:37
bjftgardner, can you accept my nominations on bug 706149 ?17:55

poelzipah. 6.37 is the worst kernel ever19:45
* jjohansen -> lunch20:02
=== sconklin-lunch is now known as sconklin
apwpoelzi, false, .38 is much worse20:19
poelziapw: hihi. but .38 is not a real release20:20
apw.37 has been one of the better ones on my kit20:21
poelzii'm so unsure whats broken. kms, radeon, cachefiles,... i got so many tracebacks20:21
poelzikms is slow like hell here at least20:21
poelzibut without it, x server makes even more trouble20:22
apwpoelzi, if you have backtraces get them into bugs and to us, as we are not seeing them20:24
brycehapw, hum didn't you tell me .37 was crackful and that all goodness was going into .38?20:24
apwbryceh, i think i said that all of the crack was going into .38-rc120:25
brycehapw, ah that's right... you said it didn't even boot20:25
apw.37 has been pretty stable on everythiong i ahve but as noone lets me have nvidia or radeon h/w20:25
JFobecause you break things :P20:26
poelziapw: yes, i' m working on get them backtraced20:29
poelziapw: can you take a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/70639420:30
ubot2Launchpad bug 706394 in linux "kernel should have CONFIG_CFQ_GROUP_IOSCHED" [Undecided,New]20:30
poelziwithout it, the the cgroups io subsystem is useless and it's enabled20:30
brycehapw, if you have a desktop/server type box, then I'm sure $$ could be scared up to send you a few ati/nvidia cards 20:31
brycehhowever frankly >80% of the gfx bugs we hear about are on -intel anyway ;-/20:32
apwbryceh, cause most people buy intel sadly20:36
brycehapw, likely so.  Also I think Intel does a bit more experimental gfx dev work in releases than the other guys.20:36
apwyeah a bit of both in all likelyhood, cursed both ways arn't we20:37
manjotgardner, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Testing/UbuntuUEFI20:39
sforsheepatches for bug 659143 are in Linus's tree for 2.6.3820:42
ubot2Launchpad bug 659143 in linux "64bit-only: regression: kernels >=2.6.34: rt2800pci: load firmware Error with ralink [1814:0781]" [Undecided,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/65914320:42
sforsheeam I right in thinking this is something we'd want to fix in maverick SRU?20:42
tgardnersforshee, seems reasonable if folks are actually encountering the bug20:43
sforsheetgardner, well, 10 people have marked the bug as affecting them20:46
sforsheethe guy who reported the bug actually wrote the patches that fix it20:47
tgardnersforshee, we really like SRUs to go through upstream first. dunno if this one has yet...20:49
sforsheetgarnder, both patches are in 2.6.38-rc120:50
sforsheetgardner, ^^20:51
sforsheetypo20:51
tgardnersforshee, cool, that makes it a lot easier21:00
manjobjf, not sure if this helps... git.alsa-project.org21:08
bjfmanjo, thanks but no, takashi does a daily snapshot of his git repo in a form that can be wrapped in debian packaging and uploaded for a daily build21:09
sforsheetgardner, can you accept my nomination on bug bug 659143 ?21:30

smoseri need some help. there is a linux-image-2.6.32-312-ec2 in lucid-proposed21:56
smoserbut there is no linux-ec2 (built by linux-meta-ec2) there21:57
smoserhow would that normally be uploaded ?21:57
smosersmb, ^ 21:57
bjfsmoser, sconklin and i are discussing it 22:13
bjfsmoser, it looks like we uploaded the package to our ppa and it got built but it didn't get copied to -proposed22:18
smoserso... a copy is coming soon ?22:18
bjfsmoser, we are going to reach out to an archive admin22:19
sconklinsmoser: no answer from any archive admin, we'll keep trying and/or send email22:31

smosersconklin-away, bjf kirkland will address if you can paste in #ubuntu-devel what you need23:29
bjfsmoser, StevenK took care of it for us, thanks23:34
keessmb`: I think the RO/NX+Xen issues have found a solution upstream. have you been following that thread?23:36
