[17:07] Hi. I'm using ubuntu about 1 year and I want to be a part of it. I want to help in a Bug Day :) [17:09] Great! we have a bugday tomorrow. [17:09] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20110127 [17:10] Actually I never did that stuff [17:14] !mentor [17:14] Looking for a helping hand with bug triage? Read the wiki for information about requesting a bugsquad mentor: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad/Mentors [17:14] Then you should read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToTriage and [17:14] !traige [17:14] Factoid 'traige' not found [17:14] Doesn't need a mentor, but does need to do some reading [17:14] ok [17:14] The other one to read is https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HelpingWithBugs [17:14] They will tell you what we do. [17:14] Achmudas, read the wikis and all guies if you have any doubts just come here ask and wait for reply [17:15] guides* [17:15] ok :) [17:18] but I mus to take mentor or not? [17:18] no [17:18] its not compulsory [17:18] Having a mentor is not a requirement to begin working on bugs [17:19] but it's recommended? [17:19] its my mentors bday today btw!!!! [17:19] Achmudas, 1st start your own [17:19] Happy B-Day! ;) [17:19] :) [17:19] *mentor :D [17:19] Achmudas: it is recommended you apply for one, if you have never worked with bugs [17:20] But please do not wait for one to begin [17:20] yeah [17:21] ok I will apply for one but will begin to work on my own [17:21] right [17:23] Terrific. Welcome to bugs! [17:23] It is not too early to start on the bugday, either [17:24] :) [17:28] pedro: hey are BugDay meetings every Thursday? [17:28] Achmudas: anything you need help with, please ask here [17:29] pedro_: hey are BugDay meetings every Thursday? [17:29] ;) [17:29] patrickmw, we have the bug days on Thursdays, yes [17:29] patrickmw, the kernel team organize bug days for the linux product on Tuesdays though [17:30] patrickmw, we said it's on Thursday but as soon as the page is up you can start working on it [17:31] pedro_: 1700 UTC? i was confused by the meeting BugSquad meeting that is posted for 11/2/8 [17:32] patrickmw, it's all the day independent of the timezone [17:32] patrickmw, the bugsquad meeting? that's the second tuesday of each month [17:32] pedro_: k, i will check it out tomorrow, and the bugsquad meeting when it comes up. thanks [17:33] just question about ubuntu wiki-page: I can create that page everywhere or there some place in launchpad or ubuntu page? [17:33] wiki.ubuntu.com [21:46] I need help filing a bug report or maybe someone can do it for me [21:47] Thirtysixway: what do you need? [21:47] I'm on Ubuntu 10.10, but when I go to the System > About Ubuntu it's saying I'm using 11.04. when I go to report a bug it just takes me to the wiki, so not sure where to go from there [21:48] Thirtysixway: ah, OK. (1) this is known, there is already a bug on it; (2) we are phasing out directly reporting a bug in favour of 'ubuntu-bug' [21:48] which is explained in the wiki page you should have been directed to [21:48] oh okay. i searched a couple of times on launchpad and didn't see anything show up [22:03] charlie-tca: did you recreate bug 705419? [22:03] Launchpad bug 705419 in ubiquity "ubiquity crashed with ValueError in command(): I/O operation on closed file" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/705419 [22:04] looking [22:04] yup [22:04] I ask because the other day you'd used the same comment on one you'd experienced [22:04] oops [22:04] er not experienced [22:05] Sorry. Yes, it reproduces each installation [22:05] I should put it on there when I reproduce them, huh? [22:06] Make things easier to follow [22:06] charlie-tca: it'd make it easier for me to decide what to do [22:06] bdmurray: that is a strange bug. It crashes ubiquity, but will complete the installation [22:07] charlie-tca: write something like "I would have reproduced and confirmed this bug, and I migh have had the urge to document it. Or not" [22:07] I seem to get two crashes, one for notifications, just running the live desktop. Then you get this one during the install [22:07] Okay. I will try to remember to comment when I do reproduce them [22:09] and I think I confirmed both bugs, too
