[00:30] I hadn't even heard there was one scheduled! [00:31] mmm, tandori sounds good right now [00:43] nUboon2Age: I think 1/04/2011 should be 2/04/2011 :) [00:48] wiki: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/CaliforniaTeam/Projects/UbuntuHours edited [00:56] pleia2: yes, thank you! [01:04] wiki: http://wiki.ubuntu.com/CaliforniaTeam/Projects/UbuntuHours edited [04:48] flying in tomorrow, hope to see ya pleia2 and MarkDude [05:56] hey all [05:57] looks like my hard drive (hopefully file system) is fubar [05:57] i ran fsck from liveusb, did fsck /media/6f86b... [05:58] got the message "superblock could not be read..." [06:16] seidos: sounds like the superblock went bad. [06:17] seidos: have you tried photorec? [06:54] Yay for internets on the HWY17 bus === jamie is now known as Guest74590 [16:19] Happy friday everyone [16:20] yes good moprning and happy friday [16:21] ok still working on typing wasnt supposed to be a p there [16:21] lol [16:22] I'm really looking forward to the weekend [16:22] Going to play with the Honeycomb SDK :) [16:24] not looking forward to mine so much my mother in laws house flooded a couple of days ago so i have to go help clean it out :( [16:32] jamie_: re: your nickserv confusion: your client is set to log in as jamie, which is registered and enforced by nickserv. if the jamie with that account is online, your client uses jamie_ instead, since IRC nicks have to be unique, and everything is fine. if they're not, it uses jamie, and gets forcenicked to Guest12345 by nickserv after 30 (?) seconds. [16:43] ok so there is more than one jamie? [16:44] yes [16:44] #ubuntu-us-ca's on a network with a /lot/ of people. most common firstnames are already taken [16:45] so i should prolly change mine then huh? [16:46] heh. looks like jamie_ is actually registered by someone else too, they just didn't turn on nickserv enforcement :\ [16:46] ok so how do i change my name so i can just sign in? [16:51] ok hopefully this one isnt taken :) [16:51] <------used to be just 'jamie' [20:01] i found a bug in the maverick installer, what package should i file the bug against? linux? [20:13] seidos: the live CD graphical installer, or the text-based alternate installer? [20:13] rww, graphical live cd installer [20:13] seidos: file it against the ubiquity package [20:14] rww, ack [22:23] Has anyone installed Ubuntu server 9.04 under Parallels on a Mac? [22:24] sorry never used a mac [22:25] This is my first in a long career and am finding it quite a productive environment. [22:27] My husband runs ubuntu under virtualbox on mac ... he was unimpressed with Parallels compared to VB and VMware. [22:28] Thank you for that commet, I am going to install VMWare next and then try virtualbox. [22:29] I got the software installed but can't seem to be able to install Parallells Tools as I was able to do with the Windows VM. [22:31] I am learning quickly and am enjoying it a lot. [22:44] FYI, Ubuntu 9.04 stopped receiving security updates in October. [22:45] 9.04 does seem like an odd choice. [22:49] I tried 10.04 but I could not get it to install. [22:50] It went haywire with GRUB2. [22:52] IIRC there's an option in 10.04 to use grub1. [22:53] Or of course you can update jaunty to karmic, then karmic to lucid, if you get jaunty working once. [22:58] I will work that out. Right now it is important to me to have some functionality. [22:59] I appreciate your help! [23:22] stburto: use the tool to install the Parallels tools, and then see if a CD shows up in Ubuntu. [23:23] You might be able to run the installer from the CD by double-clicking, or you might need to open a terminal, change to the CD directory, and then run it on the commandline with "sudo" in front. [23:24] I don't seem to be getting the CD contents to show up in Ubuntu to do the install. [23:25] Also, when you say terminal, is that a Mac terminal of Ubuntu? I get confused. [23:28] I know that I am skating on thin ice, trying to do stuff that I have yet to gain enough skill to do this with out help. [23:42] stburto: no one every got much stronger by lifting less weight than they should :P [23:43] *ever [23:44] all sorts of english failures there, hope the point wasnt lost :) [23:44] Not at all, I know what you mean.
