NisorinHello, we installed Ubuntu Studio on my sister's Dell laptop running Windows 7 64bit, and now the only OS that can run is Ubuntu Studio. We can see the Windows partition, access all the files on it, but we can't get the computer to boot from it. Any help?02:17

jaghello i develop din, a free software musical instrument for GNU/Linux only.  how do i go about including it in ubuntu studio? i have a .deb done already14:47
jaghttp://dinisnoise.org14:47
ailojag: All audio packages in Ubuntustudio come from the ubuntu repo. I would recommend getting it into Debian, this way it should automatically end up in Ubuntu and Ubuntustudio. (I'm not lying, right?)14:50
ailoTry the Debian mentor mail list. debian-mentors@lists.debian.org14:51
ailojag: And you could announce your project at Linux Audio User/Dev list to get some feedback too.14:52

DoctorTruthHi, I am relatively new to Ubuntu - I have a book I bought but I can't seem to find the certain answer I am looking for it it. I have installed a windows based program that I wanted to use with "wine" but it does not work the way I had anticipated. Is there a way to remove it's file contents from my computer? Thank you.23:41

holsteinthat should be it23:42
holstein .wine will be all wine programs23:43
DoctorTruthok I will try and hope for the best - thanks23:43
holsteinyou can poke around in there and find it23:43
holsteinno real reason to get rid of it though23:43
holsteinunless you just need the space23:43
DoctorTruthI have found it yes - I just was not sure if would actually be erased permanently23:44
DoctorTruththanks for the help : )23:44
holsteinanytime23:44
DoctorTruthLINUX rocks by the way!23:45
DoctorTruthlove it23:45
holsteinhehe23:45
DoctorTruthI just wish there were more programs available23:45
DoctorTruthin time I suppose23:45
DoctorTruththanks again23:46
holsteinDoctorTruth: what are you looking for?23:47
holsteinprogram-wise23:47
holsteini find that there is so many programs, i have a hard time checking them all out23:48
DoctorTruthI had a pretty good scrapbooking program on a windows based disk that I used to like using. I decided to try it out with wine to see if it would work but it did not go as I had hoped23:49
holsteinwhat functionality are you looking for?23:50
DoctorTruthfor designing pages with pictures and text etc.23:50
holsteinthe way those blogspot blogs work23:50
holsteini can imagine needing anything locally like thta23:50
holsteinthat*23:50
holsteinbut, i didnt do any scrapbooking23:50
holsteinif i wanted a page like that i would probably just fire up the gimp23:50
holsteintheres scribus23:51
DoctorTruthI have tried the open office programs but they dont function with as much ease as the one I was use to23:51
holsteinhttp://www.scribus.net/canvas/Scribus23:51
DoctorTruthok I will try it out23:51
DoctorTruththanks23:51
holsteinsure23:51
DoctorTruthI have gimp and I like that but it seems complex a bit though23:52
holsteindepends23:52
DoctorTruthlayers and such can be tricky23:52
holsteincan be overkill i suppose23:52
holsteini personally appreciate the extra functionality23:52
DoctorTruthagreed23:52
DoctorTruthits just a matter of learning23:53
holsteinyup23:53
DoctorTruthits pretty in depth23:53
DoctorTruthtakes more time than I have23:53
DoctorTruthunfortunately23:53
DoctorTruththanks for the help though23:54
DoctorTruthI appreciate it23:54
DoctorTruthone other question23:54
holsteinDoctorTruth: sure23:55
DoctorTruthI love the game scrabble and I had the xp disc of it - will it work23:55
DoctorTruthi am not fond of the text based version available through the synaptics23:56
holsteinDoctorTruth: http://appdb.winehq.org/ is where to check23:56
holsteinDoctorTruth: i usually just get the .exe and try it in wine23:57
holsteineasy enough to try it23:57
DoctorTruththanks again friend : )23:57
holsteinsure, and keep in mine23:57
holsteinmind*23:57
holsteinwhatever text-based scrabble games you are finding23:58
holsteinare open-source23:58
holsteinso, if someone were inclined23:58
holsteinyou can get the source, and code a GUI for it23:58
holsteinwhich is the beauty of the open-source model23:58
holsteinthe answer is always yes23:59
holsteinjust a matter of time and resources23:59
DoctorTruththat is way beyond my knowledge yet. I am learning as I go but thanks - my cousin may be good to help in that sense - he introduced me to linux23:59
