SeverianHowdy.  If I do the same qa test with 2 different computers, where one failed the test and one passwed, how do I enter them both?07:18
Severianpasswed -> passed07:41
SeverianSo, the first couple of tests installing alpha-2 using the alternate installer have failed.  I have reported and now I am trying to decide what to try next.  Is there any way to get gnome started?  Is there something I can do from a virtual terminal?09:10
jibelHello Severian, what kind of failure are you facing ? Do you have a bug number ?09:43
Severianbug 714404.  Gnome comes up after boot with no menus.  There is no way to start a program that I see.  I went to a virtual terminal and ran jockey-text to switch to a nvidia proprietary driver in the hopes it would help.  Rebooting after that never gives me anything but a black screen.09:46
ubot4Launchpad bug 714404 in debian-installer (Ubuntu) "Gnome menus unavailable after fresh install (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/71440409:46
SeverianI am reinstalling right now and hoped there would be something I could try.09:46
jibelSeverian, this is a know issue discovered during alpha testing last week. The master bug is part of the release notes. Let me find it.09:53
jibelSeverian, bug 71263009:57
ubot4Launchpad bug 712630 in gnome-session (Ubuntu) "Ubuntu Alternate: Empty desktop after installation with 2D fallback (affects: 1) (heat: 8)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/71263009:57
SeverianThat does sound similar.  I chose the other option when asked to change session or close and my results were no better.  I'll add my info to that ticket.09:59
jibelSeverian, thanks.10:00
SeverianShould I close 714404?  It still mentions the prompt that does not have any answer that really makes sense.10:01
jibelyou can mark it as duplicate and add the information to master report.10:02
Severiansure.10:04
mvo_jibel: simple(silly?) question, how do I make mago display debug output? it seems like it eats my prints or logging output (from the mago script not the app under testing)10:34
jibel_mvo_, -sv switches should make it, by default the output is buffered.10:35
mvo_jibel_: thanks, that works :)10:39
mvo_jibel_: is it currently unhappy (mago) about running inside xvfb-run ? or am I just running it with the wrong parameters?10:39
jibel_mvo_, so, that's a problem with ldtp where the ldtp client can't communicate to the ldtp daemon. There's a specific setup to proxify ldtp call to the daemon. Let me find it.10:41
jibel_mvo_, http://mago.ubuntu.com/Documentation/RunningOnHudson - Creating an a11y environment, there are 2 scripts to allow ldtp to run in an xvfb environment.10:47
mvo_thanks jibel_10:48
jibel_mvo_, I could add your scripts to the daily run if you wish ?10:51
mvo_jibel_: thanks, I need to finish it first :) plus I added some atk.Object.set_name() to make it easier to find the right widgets10:55

bdmurrayhighvoltage: you experienced bug 438637 when iso-testing?19:43
ubot4Launchpad bug 438637 in italc (Ubuntu Natty) (and 1 other project) "italc application crashes soon after startup (affects: 2) (heat: 23)" [Undecided,Expired] https://launchpad.net/bugs/43863719:43
highvoltagebdmurray: yep19:47
bdmurrayhighvoltage: I think a new bug reported via apport would have helped in this case19:48
highvoltagebdmurray: oops, just a moment19:48
highvoltagebdmurray: ok, I'll do so the next time I test an iso, I'll get that fixed before alpha3 as well by just not starting italc anymore on login19:51
bdmurrayhighvoltage: is not starting it a fix?19:53
highvoltagebdmurray: it works on the installed system, we discussed it in edubuntu before and the result was that it wasn't that useful in a live system, it also takes quite a bit of RAM so we don't want to start it by default on a live system anyway. it works once installed though. I'll look at what is needed to fix it, it would probably be nice to have it startable on live media fwiw20:04
bdmurrayhighvoltage: okay, that makes sense.  it probably would have been helpful to have that info in the bug for other people - like me ;-)20:06
highvoltagebdmurray: indeed, sorry. we have it all over our edubuntu notes but sometimes we forget that there are other people who care20:07
bdmurrayhighvoltage: okay, thanks for all the information20:08
jibelnagappan, Hi,  I didn't knew you made it a project, thanks. I'll update the documentation.20:28
jibelnagappan, btw I've patched the new mago to run with python2.620:29
hakimsheriffHi people21:44
