leagrisPlease, can you reproduce/test this bug with compiz ezoom? Using gnome classic desktop (no unity for radeon 9200) Dose someone else here can confirm bug 706803, or test it? It really need momentum as it appeared 3weeks ago and is not fixed. I can't imagine 11.04 coming out with such problem.07:58

susundbergHello! I am having issues with my WLAN driver. Before reporting bug i wanted to check the latest GIT kernel if the issue persist. Is there an easy way to compile only some kernel modules (drivers/net/wireless/rt2X00/*) ?10:49
susundbergand against the current kernel10:49
smittixHi all, Does Unity stop you using the desktop how you would now?13:30
smittixI know it's different but can you still do normal tasks ie; Folders & shortcuts on the desktop?13:30
sidneismittix, you can choose 'Ubuntu Desktop Classic' (or something like that) during login if you want to avoid unity13:38
sidneismittix, not sure if that answers your question13:38
smittixsidnei: Kind of, thanks! Im not sure the Desktop Classic option has much of a future though as i bet they will phase that out.13:50
smittixI Guess i need to just try unity myself and see if I like it.13:50
smittixWhat does everyone here think of it so far?13:50
sidneiit doesn't work for me yet, because i have nvidia graphics and the driver isn't released yet. but there's a unity 2d ppa which supposedly work if that's the case for you.13:51
smittixsidnei: I ATI13:57
smittixsorry13:57
smittixI meant i have ATI13:57
om26ersmittix, you desktop works as it works in classic session13:58
om26er*your13:58
smittixom26er: But just with added extras?14:00
smittixHeh i was all worried in case i didnt like it and id have to find a new wm to use14:00
om26erthe launcher and the panel replaces gnome-panel the desktop is still being drawn by nautilus14:01

ActionParsniphey guys15:44
rorkhi ActionParsnip15:44
ActionParsnipIs everyone else not getting a scrollbar in the list applications button in Unity?15:44
DrHalanis alpha2 with the old gnome-session as unstable as unity?15:47
robin0800DrHalan, not for me using metacity as compiz dose not work15:49
DrHalanreally? why not?15:49
robin0800DrHalan, it just crashes here and is unable to set the right resolution for the laptop display15:50
DrHalanokay15:51
DrHalanusually ubuntu is pretty stable at alpha2 already15:51
DrHalanespecially considering that this is not a post-lts release15:52
robin0800DrHalan, I think this might be at the bottom of all my problems "OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV350"15:54
DrHalanoh oaky15:55
DrHalanmaybe you have to wait until you can use fglrx again15:55
robin0800DrHalan, I think this might be at the bottom of all my problems "OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV350"15:56
robin0800DrHalan, can't use fglrx since 8.03 won't install on rv350 now15:57
DrHalanrobin0800: you cant use it because natty uses xserver1.1016:04
patdk-wkhmm, we are on 2.6.38 now16:08
robin0800DrHalan, The Nouveau driver has worked ok in the past but Think Compiz hasn't yet caught up with gallium16:08
DrHalanrobin0800: you are using radeon drivers aren't you?16:09
robin0800DrHalan, Gallium is the new radeon driver16:22
DrHalanrobin0800: gallium is a OpenGL implementation used by some drivers of the xserver16:23
robin0800DrHalan, but its installed by default here and I'm not sure I can change it?16:24
DrHalanno its used by radeon by default16:25
DrHalanyou should look up if your card is supported by the opensource drivers16:25
robin0800DrHalan, It has always said yes but they don't work and not available in jockey16:26
DaekdroomGallium is used by radeon drivers by default from r300 to r500 cards.16:29
robin0800Daekdroom, I know but can you change it?16:30
Daekdroomrobin0800, yes16:30
robin0800Daekdroom, how?16:30
Daekdroomrobin0800, what card model?16:31
robin0800Daekdroom, OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV35016:32
DaekdroomThat means you're using Gallium. Do you want to -not- use it?16:32
robin0800Daekdroom, Compiz won't work nicely with it16:33
Daekdroomhttp://paste.ubuntu.com/564535/16:33
DaekdroomBut that in /etc/X11/xorg.conf16:33
DaekdroomBut change "True" to "False"16:34
Daekdroom*Put16:34
robin0800Daekdroom, Thanks I'll try that16:35
robin0800Daekdroom, Yes it works and compiz is ok again16:45
graingertis nvidia usable yet?17:44
graingertI'll take that as a no :(17:51
coz_no change in the nvidia issue?18:13
Andre_Gondimmy firefox don't save tabs is it correct?18:14
coz_Andre_Gondim,  i couldnt tell you  I am using firefox 3  instead of 418:15
* yofel used 4 daily but with session manager18:15
yofeland no, no nvidia driver yet18:15
* saby is installing Natty atm so cant say anything18:15
yofelyou can also join #nvidia - they have the current driver versions in the topic18:15
coz_yofel,  nah thanks :)   no biggie  just checking18:16
* yofel waits desperately...18:16
coz_I also notice that the kubuntu-full is not removing nvidia-common  just the 173 and 96 modaliases18:16
yofelthe modaliases are deprecated, common is not18:16
coz_yofel,  I keep an older natty daily disc on hand for such occasions :)18:17
yofelwell, I had an older natty installation which I'm running currently, nouveau is a disaster here18:17
coz_yofel,  i think fedora is one that is usually on the cutting edge of video   I would assume nouveau works well on that18:18
yofelyou misunderstood me, nouveau is fine on my desktop, it just doesn't like my notebook card18:18
coz_oh !18:18
yofelI can use my desktop fine, but when I use it on my notebook I can't work for an hour before the GPU locks up18:19
coz_yofel,  oh man  that sounds like a pain18:20
yofelif I even get that far, you really can't work with that, so back on old X with nvidia for now18:20
charlie-tcaAndre_Gondim: save tabs how? my seems to, with firefox 4.0b1118:28
Andre_Gondimcharlie-tca, when I close ff 4b11, when I open it  again my tab aren't still there18:41
charlie-tcawell, that was not the thing to try, huh? Now I got to sign into everything and open my 40 tabs for bugs again18:44
charlie-tcaAndre_Gondim: at least I confirmed that issue for you18:46
charlie-tcaAndre_Gondim:  from chrisccoulson: you need to go to History -> Restore Previous Session18:50
Andre_Gondimcharlie-tca, I will try, thank you18:51
chrisccoulsonyeah, that sucks. we might change that behaviour18:51
charlie-tcathanks, chrisccoulson18:51
* charlie-tca thinks that went the long way around to get to here18:51
Machtinsoo.. topic tells me that nvidia-current is broken. when will it work again?18:52
DaekdroomWho knows.18:52
bjsniderwhen nvidia releases a driver update18:52
Machtinah. fair enough.18:52
Machtinnouveau's somehow b0rked for me.18:53
chrisccoulsoncharlie-tca, http://people.canonical.com/~chrisccoulson/home.png18:59
chrisccoulson(that's the default firefox homepage, which has a nice restore button)18:59
charlie-tcaso the trick is to set it to show the firefox homepage when starting and then restore session ?19:00
sabyhmm, Compiz keeps crashing in Desktop Edition19:06

DaveD0101Hello all.  It seems that the icon in the notification area for my network settings has disappeared.  I've tried reinstalling gnome-network-manager, and am digging around in gconf, but haven't figured out what's going on.  Any ideas?20:47

Q-FUNKI was just wondering if someone who knows GDM internals could look at bug #713768 ?21:39
ubottuLaunchpad bug 713768 in gdm (Ubuntu) "login fails; freezes after selecting user from the face browser" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/71376821:39
DaekdroomQ-FUNK, have you tried changing the session type?21:41
Q-FUNKDaekdroom: I cannot change anything until a user is selected.  none of the usual menus appear on the bottom panel.21:44
Q-FUNKnormally, the menu options to change the session locale or the session type would appear right after the user has been selected from the face browser.21:51
BUGabundoyo friends :D22:02
Q-FUNKhey :)22:02
tzangergood evening23:00
tzangerjust a quick question regarding natty... so far it's been great and I'm excited to help test it23:01
tzangerI've been using gpg-agent and ssh keys for years now... with natty though it seems terribly broken.23:01
tzangerI've updated from 10.10, which was updated from 10.04 on this particular machine.  it was working great in 10.10 but now even though I see the agent running and see the environment variable, the agent doesn't seem to get invoked.  ssh will ask for the key's passphrase on the CLI instead of using the pin agent23:02
tzanger/etc/alternatives/pinagent correctly links to /usr/bin/pinentry-qt4, and /usr/bin/pinentry-qt4 runs23:03
tzangeris there anything specific I should be looking for to help track down the trouble?23:04
