superxglhi all, i don't know much about managed-novlan mode , does it have to need  *two* nics and one switch ??15:08
superxglin this mode , the VMs use private IP addressed ,right ?15:11
superxgli want to change to this mode15:12
superxglbecause i think this mode can solve my problem (i.e. lacking of suffient IP addresses)15:14

superxglsmoser : ok, sorry, i want to ask that can managed-novlan mode solve my problem( i.e . i don't have so much ip addressed)?15:39
smoserTREllis, was just playing with that yesterday i think.15:40
superxgloh, TREllis, r u there ?15:42
superxgli don't have so many ip addresses and now i use "system" mode , so that some of my instances *CAN'T* acquire ip addresses15:44
superxglthey are running with which ip addreses keeps "0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0"..15:45
TREllissuperxgl: hi15:58
TREllissuperxgl: with system mode, they try and grab dhcp leases from your public network afaik15:58
TREllissuperxgl: best bet, if you are low on public addresses is to just remove the address range from eucalyptus.conf on the cc and use managed-novlan... then when launching instances use --addressing private15:59
TREllisunless anyone else has a better idea :)15:59
TREllisI have the same problems, public network doesn't have too many free ips... flat network for clc/cc/nc's each with public addresses but none to give to instances, not a problem if you want people to use those instances via the CLC/CC...16:00
TREllisin this setup for web development, I've just added mod_proxy to the front end, which redirects to instances on the backend16:00
superxglTREllis : so , now that means the only way i can choose is to use managed-novlan or maybe managed mode ?16:02
TREllissuperxgl: I *think* so, my knowledge of the different eucalyptus networking modes is rather fresh16:03
TREllissuperxgl: with managed of course, you could do vlan tagging too... this page is rather helpful: http://open.eucalyptus.com/wiki/EucalyptusNetworking_v1.616:04
superxglTREllis:  tnx. so maybe i will choose managed-vlan then, and it needs two nics?16:05
=== dendrobates is now known as dendro-afk
superxglhmm...now i only have 1 nics.16:06
TREllissuperxgl: no, I'm using it on a flat network at the moment, of course, if you want the instances to be accessible outside of the cc you'll need to use public ips16:06

superxglno need *two* nics ? i only want the instances to be accessible via cc,16:09
superxglbut i see the doc says that it needs two  nics16:09
superxglthe book : eucalyptus beginners guide16:10
superxglanyway , if one nic works ,it sounds good to me16:12
TREllissuperxgl: works for me :)16:13
superxglTREllis : so ,  you use managed mode or managed novlan mode ?16:14
TREllissuperxgl: managed-novlan16:16
superxglTREllis: cool...and ,u said that u just added mod_proxy to the front end, how to do this?  sorry i am really a newbie to it ..16:17
TREllissuperxgl: sure, one sec16:24
superxglOk :)16:24
TREllissuperxgl: some rough notes http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/565937/16:38
TREllisif you want to disable the http://clc/ redirect just take it out of /var/www/index.html16:38
superxglTREllis : thank you very much for ur kindly help and nice guide :)16:48
superxglu help me a lot today16:48
TREllissuperxgl: np16:50
superxgl then i will solve my problem , u know, it bothered me a few days :)16:51
TREllissuperxgl: it's not so apparent, although if you look at the debconf question you get asked on install (when it asks for public ip range) it does state it pretty clearly, missed that myself :)16:52
TREllissuperxgl: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEC/CDInstall?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=uec4.png that one :)16:53
superxglTREllis : i forgot to say that , i use CentOS , i could not use UEC for my box not support kvm :(16:56
superxglbut should be the same16:57
superxglTREllis: i will try it tomorrow :) it's late night here ,  gonna to go now . good night and tnx again :)16:59
