bdmurraybryceh: should I report a bug about the compiz version tagging part of the Xorg package hook?00:02
brycehbdmurray, yeah is it not working right?00:07
bdmurraybryceh: right its not adding the version00:09
brycehbdmurray, I think I may have already fixed it00:30
brycehit may have not gotten uploaded due to the alpha-2 freeze though; I'll check00:30
brycehbdmurray, for the kernel apport hook "how often does this occur" you need a "multiple times per day" option00:50

ubot4Launchpad bug 713781 in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "[natty] Video corruption on kernel 2.6.38-1-generic and nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 230M] (rev a2) (affects: 1) (heat: 10)" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/71378102:20
brycehalex_mayorga, thanks02:20
alex_mayorgabryceh: no problem, maybe I need to change the bug to include 2.6.38-202:21
alex_mayorgaI'm fetching -3 right now, any chance that would help?02:21
brycehdefinitely worth trying02:23
brycehdidn't know a -3 was available already02:23
brycehalex_mayorga, this is definitely a kernel bug, I'm only leaving it open against X because we sometimes can help in triaging the bugs down to a kernel patch to make life easier for the kernel guys ;-)02:24
brycehalex_mayorga, since this is -nouveau, RAOF may have more clue to share than I on what may be causing this02:25
alex_mayorgaRAOF: hi, mind taking a look?02:26
* RAOF is currently debugging unity crap. I'll look at it later.02:26
alex_mayorgaRAOF: thanks02:27
alex_mayorgahow buggy is the nvidia blob? should I try it?02:27
brycehalex_mayorga, it doesn't work at all right now02:28
alex_mayorgaI see, so I'll hang into 2.6.37 for now :) Thanks! Sorry to bother02:29
alex_mayorgaguess I should go for Intel card on my next upgrade :D02:29
brycehoh, no bother, actually I'm appreciating getting the nouveau bug reports since I really want there to be a solid fallback for when nvidia isn't available02:30
bryceh(and maybe one day enabling people to not need the proprietary driver for ordinary usage)02:30
brycehalex_mayorga, Intel isn't necessarily perfect either...  check out http://www.bryceharrington.org/X/Reports/ubuntu-x-swat/totals-natty-workqueue.svg02:31
brycehwe're having a lot of problems with different freezes on -intel right now02:31
alex_mayorgaso basically this is not the "year of linux on the desktop" either :D02:33
brycehof course just as I was about to say -ati is more reliable my -ati desktop system spontaneously reboots02:38
alex_mayorgabryceh: :)02:39
alex_mayorgashould I close the bug on the mysterious hang I had or link it to this one02:40
brycehalex_mayorga, probably link it02:41
alex_mayorgabryceh: how? My other bugs are 696104 and 58138502:47
* alex_mayorga reboots to try 2.6.38-302:48
RAOFAmaranth: Are you still getting those intel freezes?08:06

apwbryceh, you have pushed bug #542660 upstream in the past, and we have gotten a patch from upstream suggested, but with that patch applied people are still seeing this issue15:04
ubot4Launchpad bug 542660 in linux (Ubuntu Natty) (and 6 other projects) "New Apple iMac (Core i5) fails to display anything (affects: 11) (dups: 1) (heat: 70)" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/54266015:04
apwbryceh, i am torn between fileing a new bug upstream or continuing the old, whats the norm15:04

siretarthi.16:05
siretartI've just installed natty on one of these newly fangled i5 sandy bridge systems, and encountered a complete system freeze after xorg starts with intel drivers. vesa works fine (FSVO fine). bug #715122 looks related, but there 'only' the drm module is stuck, not the whole system16:07
ubot4Launchpad bug 715122 in xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) "[sandybridge] GPU lockup - *ERROR* i915_do_wait_request returns -11 (affects: 2) (heat: 14)" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/71512216:07
siretartif someone has some ideas what I can test further, just tell me :-)16:08
apwcan someone remind me what the experimental gallium package is called16:55
tjaaltonapw: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental16:59
brycehapw, either approach would be ok.  Given the age of that bug report it might be better to file a new one, with new logs and such, and get a fresh look.  But make sure to mention something like, "This may be related to bug #27322" or "seems similar to #27322, maybe a dupe?"17:20
ubot4Launchpad bug 27322 in epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Epiphany shows Deer Park password save dialog (dups: 1) (heat: 4)" [Medium,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/2732217:20
apwbryceh, yeah good plan17:20
alkisgMy laptop has 2 outputs, LVDS1 (1280x800) and VGA1 (1920x1080). My gnome session automatically runs at the highest common resolution, 1024x768.18:14
alkisgIf I use xrandr --addmode VGA1 1280x800, I get the desired result: both my monitors to have 1280x800.18:14
alkisgMy question is, where can I declare that so it's done automatically? In xorg.conf, even if I sometimes don't have the external monitor plugged in? In some udev event?18:14
cndbryceh, RAOF: have you seen any input related x 1.10 regressions so far?18:19
cndthe foundation of the mt work is in 1.10 (masked valuators), so it would be helpful to know if that looks solid18:19
brycehcnd, yes 18:20
cndbryceh, yes, there are regressions?18:20
brycehwell, regression is such a strong word ;-)18:21
brycehbut yeah spotted a few little things18:21
brycehhttp://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71671218:21
ubot4Launchpad bug 716712 in xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) "Could not resolve keysym XF86TouchpadOn (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,New]18:21
brycehhttp://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/71076218:21
ubot4Launchpad bug 710762 in xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Middle mouse button no longer works (affects: 2) (heat: 502)" [Undecided,Confirmed]18:21
brycehcnd, haven't mentioned them to you cause I'm not 100% sure whether it's the mt stuff or just general X issues18:22
cndyeah18:22
brycehcnd, btw I maintain a list of all known X bugs in natty here, if you want to periodically check for regressions that you do care about - http://www.bryceharrington.org/Arsenal/Reports/ubuntu-x-swat/workqueue-natty.html18:23
brycehhalf of it is gpu lockups (which technically probably belong to the kernel package actually)18:23
brycehcnd, that first bug I bet is a client bug, but wonder if it might be related to some of your stuff.  but I didn't poke into it at all18:24
cndbryceh, thanks, and those two bugs don't look relevant18:24
cndwhich makes me happy :)18:24
brycehwell at least you're happy ;-)18:26
