weboideHey there, could I have someone's attention about bug 708504 ? php5-fpm got dropped along the way and php5 5.3.5-1 in debian seems to be the only package to have php5-fpm included again.00:03

paultagI'm having an issue, hackers. I've got a d/rules file that generates the upstream tarball (with some --exclude calls), and I can't get it to match upstream's tarball00:38
paultagI've tried extracting upstream, repacking (and they don't match)00:38
paultagmy generated tarballs don't match, and when I manually remove what I'm excluding and create it, it does not match any of it00:38
paultagI have 4 tarballs, and 4 different md5sums. I'm wicked confused00:39
broderi don't think tar or gzip are designed to give you the same thing repeatably00:43
broderthat's why we have things like pristine-tar00:43
broder(gzip in particular includes the time it was generated in the header)00:44
paultaghummm00:44
paultagwell when I md5sum `find .` inside the archive, and write that stdout to a file, they all match00:44
broderyes00:44
paultagso I guess that makes sense00:44

c2tarunI was trying to merge a package, the error posted in REPORT is the conflict b/w these lines in a file http://paste.ubuntu.com/569478/ I think both lines will do fine. but debian's new line is more explanatroy than ubuntu's Which line should I add. (I suggest debian's)05:42
micahgc2tarun: if we didn't make any changes to that line, we take Debian's, if the reason we changed it no longer applies, we take Debian's05:43
c2tarunmicahg: so I should take debian's and request for a merge?05:44
micahgc2tarun: I would have to look at the package to say for sure05:45
c2tarunmicahg: actually what should I look in order to check this line.05:49
micahgc2tarun: see if it's in the UBuntu patch05:50
c2tarunmicahg: this line is in the patch that is what creating the conflict. Isn't it?05:54
c2tarun:q05:55
micahgc2tarun: yeah, so now you have to see why we changed that05:58
c2tarunmicahg: sorry mate, i got to go now, i'll come back and work on this merge, thank you06:02
c2tarunmicahg: ping12:09
c2tarunthere are some packages on this link https://merges.ubuntu.com/universe.html which dont have any problem in merging, still they are there. Why are they not merged automatically?12:24
ari-tczewc2tarun: MoM has been crashed and doesn't update anymore. it needs to be fixed by core devs. I pinged cjwatson yesterday for it.12:50

Adri2000http://launchpadlibrarian.net/63056953/buildlog_ubuntu-natty-i386.homebank_4.2.1-1_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz <- any idea? it seems to be due to some change in natty, as the same package builds perfectly well in maverick...14:19
ari-tczewAdri2000: FTBFS due to gcc 4.5.14:39
ari-tczewAdri2000: Maverick bases on older gcc, that's works.14:39
ari-tczewAdri2000: I encourage to get in touch with upstream.14:39
Adri2000ari-tczew: probably won't have enough time to get in touch with upstream, as I'd like to upload a new version before feature freeze. do you know what the problem is exactly? and even how to fix it? :)14:41
ari-tczewAdri2000: I guess try to add -Wl, --no-add-needed to LDFLAGS/LIBS. If it won't help, upstream has to fix it in source.14:42
Leon-Wallchplease make a review to Wallch before 24th of February --> http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/p/wallch14:43
ari-tczewhyperair: 4th suggestion: when you're building source, please use debuild with option -vLAST_UBUNTU_REVISION14:54
hyperairari-tczew: okay.15:04
hyperairari-tczew: i think i might have missed it for one of the packages, but i usually do that when i remember to.15:05
ari-tczewhyperair: Sure, mistakes sometimes could occur.15:06
mr_pouitari-tczew: playing with LDFLAGS won't solve an include issue…15:19
ari-tczewmr_pouit: so it's place to work for upstream.15:20
c2tarunari-tczew: does changing name in launchpad will also change it while signature?15:21

micahgc2tarun: merges at this point are done if the benefit of merging outweighs the risk of regressions16:44
micahgari-tczew: it's not about a core-dev for MoM, but rather someone with access to the server16:44
c2tarunmicahg: risk of regressions? what is it?16:45
micahgc2tarun: where uploading a new version breaks itself or a lot of other applications16:46
c2tarunmicahg: as its too late for merges, how else can I contribute?16:48
micahgc2tarun: not too late, just benefit needs to outweigh risk16:49
micahgc2tarun: FTBFS would be great16:49
ari-tczewmicahg: I suggested the same.16:49
c2tarunmicahg: ok, and yes ari-tczew also suggested me to go for FTBFS, I dont have very good coding background. How can I fix ftbfs?16:50
ari-tczewc2tarun: you can fix FTBFS with binutils-gold/linking no-add-needed, it's easy16:50
ari-tczewc2tarun: go to udienz or doko LP page and check his uploaded packages how they fixed FTBFS16:51

weboidemicahg: what do you mean?18:20
micahgweboide: we're going to stick with Debian WRT PHP18:21
weboidemicahg: I see, but could just php5-fpm be reintroduced then? since this would be a regression from maverick18:21
micahgit's a little too late to introduce a new PHP version18:22
weboidemicahg: wouldn't it be possible just to enable to php-fpm build?18:22
micahgweboide: you'd have to ask the server team18:22

c_kornhow can I set the working directory of an application? problem: data files are under /usr/share/2ManDVD and executable is under /usr/lib/2ManDVD. now there is a symbolic link in /usr/share/2ManDVD to the executable. if I call it from there the executable does not find its resources because it says the working directory is /usr/lib/2ManDVD20:13

zookoFolks: FYI POX and warner are working on packaging Tahoe-LAFS for Debian over on irc.oftc.net #debian-python.21:48
zookoContext: Tahoe-LAFS v1.7.1 is in Ubuntu already, but I hope someone will upgrade it to v1.8.2 for Natty.21:48
zookoMore context: Tahoe-LAFS is widely thought of as being a good candidate to be part of the new Freedom Box project that Eben Moglen recently spoke about and got written up in the New York Times.21:49
zookoThis has spurred interest in freshening up the Tahoe-LAFS debian packaging.21:49
